I have the HD2 and have been extremely happy with it. Auto-gain works really well, and as a Studio One user having my input levels saved as part of each song/session is really handy. My ONLY complaint is that I would like more control over the actual output signal on reamping. I still find that If I'm recording DIs with "correct" headroom that the reamped signal is about 8db quieter. I think that's part of just the joy of reamping though. Only really matters if you're being OCD about matching your reamp level exactly with your actual guitar.
With the hd 2, if you plug a guitar to the di, does it override the corresponding mic pre? I was curious if it had 4 analog inputs or if it’s really only 2 at a time. Thanks!
32-bit…wow. PreSonus is dragging us all into the future. The headroom must be amazing. 32-bit, if I remember correctly, gives you a lot of control over the input headroom. The Universal Control features are very cool. Wow…the quantum looks to be a logical next step for Audio Interfaces. I’m stoked about this.
More ins and outs are great and all, but they've had pretty solid pre's for a while. The Studio 192 sounded great but had horrible drivers. If they got their drivers sorted out, they'd be competing with the big boys.
Guys, I bought a Quantum HD8 and the main rotary knob has some play. Does anyone have the same interface and can tell me if the same thing happens? Thanks.
I hate the auto gain, it kills that wide dynamic range almost immediately and also that much exagerated compression, everybody who was trying to pair with my channel used, while they never had to cancel the true tape hiss of the broken cassette deck. I don't know. Namastè.
How many interfaces they going to produce before they fix the actual problem by offer ing new DRIVERS? Beyond ridiculous! I can’t believe people fall for this same song & dance with the same issue of shit drivers. They won’t even be truthful with customers. Contact them all you want, but if you suspect it’s a driver issue, you won’t even get a response. What a colossal embarrassment that last $600 quantum was. It should have never been released to the public. Presonus is dangerously close to irrelevance. You have to wonder if it’s users have an abuse dependency.
