SO D*MN CATCHY! | TOTO - "Stop Loving You" REACTION 

It's my favourite pop rock band ever! They have so many hits and beautiful ballads :)

The lead singer used to be Bobby Kimball, who sang lead on "Hold the Line", and sang lead with Steve Lukather, who is the main guitarist of the group, on "Rosanna". Bobby isn't in this video. The lead singer now, the singer with the ginger hair, is Joseph Williams and has been since 2010. He was also lead singer back in the late 80's. The fabulous drummer, Jeff Porcaro, is one of three Porcaro brothers in the band and he is now deceased. Also, Mike Porcaro, the bass player is also deceased; died of ALS. Joseph William's father is the great composer, John Williams, who has done numerous scores for movies, such as Star Wars, Jaws, etc. He has won 25 Grammy Awards, so Joseph comes from a very talented family. Sadly, Bobby Kimball has lost his hearing, so he can no longer even accompany the band on tour any longer. David Paich, who is usually on piano or keyboards, composes many of the band's songs and with other members of the band. He and guitarist and singer Steve Lukather, aka Luke, are the only members to appear on every studio album. Luke & Joseph Williams both came out with solo albums during the pandemic and sang on each other's albums. How do I know all this, you say? Toto is my favorite band of all time. I have seen them in concert many, many times & hope to see them perform in 2023. Best concerts ever~ I love my guys! They have been going strong for over 40 years! love how no matter what singer they have, it still sounds like Toto .. some other groups lose that quality when they swap leads.. also, yes, props to the drummer with the occasional off-beats, I've heard those are some of the harder ones to do

YES! FINALLY! Everyone wants to do Africa, Hold the Line, Rosanna. they are stellar songs, but Toto is so much more. Next please do TILL THE END, STRAIGHT FOR THE HEART, PAMELA, HOME OF THE BRAVE LIVE (HQ) is Epic! That singer is Joseph Williams. Do a reaction to those songs listed above and you will be blown away by his voice. He has a voice that's unique. He is up there next to Darren Hayes for all time great voices in my opinion.

Explaining the ins and outs of Toto lead singers over the years really requires a 3 hour powerpoint presentation (there was a period in the 80s where they seemed to change singers every half hour) but the two MAIN ones, in terms of longevity at least, (and not counting instrumentalists in the band who also sometimes sang lead) were Bobby Kimball (lead on Rosanna and Hold the Line) from 1977-1984 and again from 1998-2008, then Joseph WIlliams (in this clip) from 1986-1989ish and again from 2010 to the present. Anyway this particular song was a HUGE hit in Europe, but wasn't even released as a single in the US, not the first or last time terrible decisions were made for them by their label!

In the 9 months since you've reacted to this, I haven't seen anyone suggest "Pamela" from Toto. Very similar song to this, but in my opinion a little better.

Toto combined, (all the guys) played on more then 5000 albums as session guys. The drummer(jeff porcaro) is one of the best,most legendary drummers ever! Everyone is considered best of the best in the music world. (The album thriller, is mostly toto with MJ on lead)

Grat reaction! I think that Toto might hold the record for the most songs that have girls names in the title. The next one you should check out is from the same album, I think, called Pamela! Practically all but the bass player can sing on tracks! Bobby Kimball who sang Rosanna left for a while so Joseph Williams (Jon Williams, the composer's son) took over. Bobby still joins Toto for conserts.

Pamela and Mushanga are two other great songs from the same album. Highly recommended!

Toto has had a bunch of different lead singers through the years. Originally, there were four lead singers. Bobby Kimball would sing most of the songs, but some songs were sung by Steve Lukather (the guitarist), and David Paich and Steve Porcaro (the keyboardists). Lukather and Paich have done at least one lead vocal each on most albums. Porcaro have contributed lead vocals more sporadically. When Kimball left, he was replaced by Fergie Frederiksen. Then, Frederiksen was replaced by Joseph Williams, who is the red-haired lead singer in the video. Soon, Williams was replaced by Jean-Michel Byron. Then, when Byron left, Lukather decided to do most of the vocals himself. That is, until Kimball came back. After Kimball left again, Williams was brought back as the principal lead singer. There was also a third keyboardist, Greg Phillinganes, who sang lead vocals on some songs. 3 different singers for the most part. The dude with the ‘stache on other songs (Bobby Kimball), the lead guitarist (Steve Lukather) and the one singing here (Joseph Williams). Even the keyboardist (David Paich) has at least 1 song lead. Can’t forget another lead, Jean-Michael Byron, who didn’t last long.

If Spinäl Täp had problems with drummers, Toto had them for real with singers after Bobby Kimball was asked to leave. At one time Richard Page of Mr.Mister and Eric Martin of Mr.Big were on the shortlist, before they made the breakthrough in those bands. One singer they had was more or less pushed down the band's throat by the record company.
