Creevy undoubtedly will go down as one of the greatest ambassadors the game has ever seen. His passion, leadership, longevity and love for the game is unmatched.
When Creevy came on the pitch my 78 year old father in law and myself stood up in unison and started cheering. What a player and a gentlemen, with love from South Africa.
Springboks: We are getting a Squidge video this week, bru! That lineout was CRAZY! Our new game plan is FANTASTIC! Sacha is the NEXT Carter!! Argentina: Hold my beer
Completely agree...last time they got hammered in the next game...I hope they learned their lesson that time and will give it their all on Saterday...I respect the All Black's and usually support them unless they play the Boks but it would be amazing if Los Pumas can make it two in a row...just to see a certain Sir Kirwan love scrums even more
Why shouldn't the allblacks show how to overcome this weekend ? We have just been shown applied and executed tactics worked. Would consistency be they play the same tactics? It does show the allblacks failure to read the game in front of them. I remember when the allblacks always came back 2nd half so that change at the 60min mark was genius.
@@oldblack15too programmed, too small, too many guys in the wrong positions, poor structures in possession and no crunch in contact. It's been the story of the ABs for a while now, so much so that you have to wonder whether this is what happens to contact sportsmen in a nation with a tiny populstion, where too many families struggle to afford to eat.
We are so privileged to have witnessed Gus Creevy's incredible career. Definitely up there with the greats, Lomu, Joost, Gerber, Porta, Carter, Mccaw, Read, Whitelock.
For me Agustin Creevy is the greatest nr.2 of all time. He's been consistent for ages. He's been around since i can remember 😅 can't imagine him actually retiring. Hopefully another 10 years. 🙏
Thank you Squidge for paying tribute to Agustin. He's the face of rugby especially the last 19 years. Most recognized rugby player on planet earth. When he retires there will be many tears.
Can confirm. Us saffas love creevy. Great player, fantastic humour. I believe he was the one to famously offer to translate the refs instructions to afrikaans for duhan vd merwe.
As Gus Creevy said: F'n amazing. Also, a shout out to the other Gus involved - 'Gus Gardner, the ref, who got skittled at one stage and simply got back up and kept going.
Also like the level-headed way he dealt with the TMO trying to push for a yellow card. We need more sensible interpretation of some of the rules to avoid the travesties we've had in some of the other games.
Brilliant analysis Squidge. AB's are trying to play top international rugby with inexperienced 4, 5, 7, 9 & 10 (barring TJ) with 4, 5 & 10 having to learn REALLY fast. 16, 19 & 20 are inexperienced also. We here in NZ need to be patient with these guys, and we need to give these boys the chance to build depth again. The Argies 10 was brilliant along with correctly noting how many men need to compete at the tackle and the defensive ruck. You are the premier rugby analyst here on YT. Keep up the good work.
Los Pumas you guys will have to show up with a 110% game on Saterday...As a Bok supporter I know all too well how dangerous a wounded AB team can be...going to be epic..
A great 25 min critical analysis that shows how hard the changing of the guard can be. Teams don't come together in a few weeks. Wekll dione to a rugby great, Augustin Creevy, and a passionate Argentinian team.
Thank you for this video. Believe it or not, the New Zealand media coverage of this game is mostly.... There were a lot of empty seats at the Stadium. Instead, it should be that anyone in New Zealand Rugby who underestimates Argentina should have the stupidity slapped out of them. They are consistently a top eight rugby nation, and will be capable of beating every other nation at any time. This is not the 80s and 90s, when it was Hugo Porter and 14 others. This is a team with experience and talent.
Agreed, but yeah our rugby coverage hasn't really said anything new for about 25 years. Fortunately, we have good new commentators ready to take the mic as soon as the dinosaurs die.
@@Eurynomos326 The same thing happened in Argentina with fubol (soccer). Old glories repeating the same old story from the 90s until now. It was only solved recently with the new successes in the world cup. All blacks need to become world champions for a change of scenery. For that they will have to trust their new coach.
Well it's the all blacks, of course they win later If beating them so consistently was a thing they would be no different to wales or scotland (with all due respect)
Can see the conversation on the pitch with creevy saying to wallace sititi , yes i remember playing against your dad 19 years ago. Congratulations agustin creevy and Argentina on your win against the all blacks at home. As long as these wins are rare for the opponents , they will be cherished. Come on allblacks , sort your shite out!
Great vid as always Mr Squidge! F^%king well gone Argentina. Watching this was liking experiencing the 2019 semi all over again. The thing that gives me small hope is that I rewatched the match and counted the AB's actually paying with the ball in hand in the Argy half at approx 5 mins yet we still had 3 tries. If we can exit an release some pressure we mite not see a repeat result this week.
i haven't read all the comments but of those i read, i saw none mentioning the genius cameo of Tommy Bowe, when the 10 penalties were mentioned. Absolute genius Squidge, chapeau 😂😂😂
I was really hoping that you were going to notice how Savea makes a carry off of a maul inside of Argentina's 22 line and is stopped inmidiatelly by Mateo Carreras, who goes high against this almost unstopable force.
Squidge, you need to do a tiktok style shorts series on why Rugby is so great. (Many) Online Rugby fans have forgotten the values and ethics that Rugby demands of the fans when it comes to respecting the game first, having humility in victory (yes fellow Saffas, I'm talking about us), and being gracious in defeat (again Saffas and Kiwis....) and recognising class when you see it. Your love for Rugby is what every Rugby fan should aspire to, your breathless love for your sport only eclipsed by the great Murray Walker in Formula 1. Keeping being awesome, kid! I love your work!
We have a tiny backrow, who do not put the fear in other teams, which allows defences to fan out, we do not truck it up, and we are easy meat for defences. The blues showed the way, but Robertson, wants Ethan Blackadder in the squad and Savea at 8. Let's get Savea back to 7 some dynamic and destructive 8 & 6 to truck it up, to suck the defence, create a weapon from our backrow so our backs can carve. Love watching squidge.
For me the mind blowing thing about Creevy is seeing how far Argentina has come since joining the Championship, yet he has always been mixing it with the cream of the team when they were not great and now as well. Machine!!!
Great breakdown. Each game I hope that MacKenzie will learn from the previous one but I'm still not convinced he's what we need at 10. Hoping I'm wrong though and that he'll grow into it.
Fair assessment. You left off a couple of observations. 1. All Black ruck speed has been a game winner many times in the past. Notice how the Pumas targeted this all game by laying all over the rucks and in the ruck channels. Subtle but effective. 2. Regarding scrums, in the first one Argentina accurately assess NZ has the shove on them. Watch the bind and set in the 2nd scrum to see how they switch to pulling the NZ front row forward, tipping them off their feet and earning a penalty, again, subtle but effective. 3. The Pumas effectively rushed Beaudan Barret. More times than not, he got the ball and an Argentinian at the same time. Killing his ability for game changing play making. 4. NZ wings tended to come in a lot looking for ruck ball and runs. To get around a rush defense you need people out wide, they just weren't there when needed. Probably why they are both out of the 2nd game. Keep up the great content, always looking out for it!
I wouldn't say Pumas play rush defense... If they can apply pressure they do, if not, keep the line... For me rush defense is what springbooks and now england do
Great win for Argentina. A hard fought win. I don't agree with the new BP system for tries though. Because Argentina didn't score 3 more tries they don't get a BP, despite scoring 4 tries, it's stupid.
It's insane to think Ledesma kept leaving Creevy out of our NT, he should have never left our lineups.. one of those players that live and breathe our shirt
New Zealand's mental attitude at HT that they had it in the bag, is some thing I have experienced in teams I have played in and against! It dissolves team unity and requires forceful captain or other experienced player to regather the the team unity. Wilson Whineray, Sean Fitzpatrick and Richie Mcaw very capably regained psychological control of games over their years in as captains.
Great vid and breakdown again, and also around about as painful as watching the game, so thanks Squidge 😞. Nz exposed across the park last weekend, reckon it'll be some good coaching if we can turn it around quickly
Honestly I think a lot of the decisions made on a rugby pitch are split second instinctive ones, rather than intelligent thought out decisions, you take 07:12 for example, any prop going to make a tackle 10 meters out from the try line will 100000% want to smash a back, Jordie just steps in making it a chop tackle.. Nevertheless immaculate analysis as always Squidge thanks!
I think something not getting enough attention is NZs new rush defence specifically the 13 channel. It was exposed a few times by carreras. They are trying new things on all aspects of their game. Nonetheless they played badly on the basic things.
My only issue is Squidge makes it seem like everything is 100% planned, "he kicks the ball know exactly it is going to bounce up and backwards and not over the deadline" It's a rugby ball you can never know how it's going to bounce, you can plan and execute for a good possibility but you can't plan everything that happens. A kick off cant be planned to go exactly past a players' hind shoulder.
I thought you are gonna do a video on how SA smashed Aus. But I guess you will be making a video on SA at the end of the tournament "So how did SA win the Rugby Championship"😅
AB's restart plays as well as exit play has been woefully lacking the past few years. They would score a try and then immediately miss catching the ball from the kick-off. When they do manage to catch the ball, the exit play kicks would not even make it to the halfway line. Then someone like Sevu Reece picks up the ball in his own 22 from broken play, while running backwards, kicks the ball out on the halfway line.
I was surprised Mark Tiliel was chosen for the All Blacks as he has lost a step or two in recent years while still occasionally showing bits of his brilliance. Surely there are some young, tricky footed super rugby players that could be developed?
As a south African I dunno if I should be happy and this makes me confident about us winning the whole thing or if I should be dreading trying to beat them at home twice
Great insight as usual Squidge. Even as an AB supporter, seeing Creevy notch the winning try was strangely gladdening: always a likeable and heartfelt player. There's a school of thought in NZ that Scott Robertson is pretty well out of his depth, that his assistant coaches have too much power with regard to selection, and that a tendency to favor Crusaders players over better or more promising talent is holding the team back. It's by no means the majority opinion, but it's growing and another loss against the Pumas or Wallabies this year (never mind SA, who look miles ahead of everyone) will strike an ominous chord in NZ rugby fans' heads.
Easy answer: All Blacks aren't as good as they used to be. It's a new team with lots of new, inexperienced players. The forwards just aren't good enough yet to compete with the likes of South Africa, Ireland and France, and probably won't be good enough for at least a year
