Prototype is a power fantasy. Playing as a nye immortal, unstoppable, rage filled demon that can slaughter hordes of monsters and military alike without any care in the world. Honestly one of the most fun games I’ve ever played.

Ironically, Alex Mercer is a nicer person than the psychopath who created him. If Prototype got a movie, I could swear they'd pair him with a kid whod tell him he doesn't have to be evil or something like that, and he'd probably do it because he's like a lost puppy looking for approval.

@@parthmanav5734 More like, started off with original sociopath Alex's personality, but then consumed so many different people to get their memories that he learned what it's like to have other emotions than hatred and entitlement, as well as empathy and compassion. And I love that he's unhappy about that, because now he has to deal with guilt and the desire to help people other than himself and Dana ^^ Too bad Prototype 2 took his character in the other direction and didn't bother to explain why. Hope you've read the comics, nerds!

Both one and two were just a ton of fun, angsty to eleven but still, nothing like it at the time. Reminded me a lot of that Hulk intimate destruction I think it was, just pure power fantasy. Edit: ultimate. Ultimate distruction lolol. Intimate distruction sounds like that one gif... Lol

When I was younger I always found that in the harder difficulties there’s a massive difficulty curve near the end, especially the final boss. I remember it talking me like a whole day to beat, although I was like 11

The Prototype series perfectly married the feeling of being a near god with great atmosphere and an enjoyable story. One of my favorite franchises of all time. Not to mention they made a sequel even better than the original game.

Prototype 2 better than Prototype 1? Ehhhhh. gameplay wise sure, but the story was absolutely horrid, the main character was an annoying dumbass and they ruined Alex Mercer making him a really weird standard bad guy while on the first game he was a much more complex character

I don't agree, prototype 2, did add some nicer mechanics and a more inviting atmosphere but as for the story is was beyond shit. Prototype 1 will always be better, in my opinion for that reason. They could have done so much with how prototype 1 ended instead they messed up the whole franchise

OKAY! The fact that you tossed somebody a far distance off a skyscraper and can still find their body and it doesn't disappear despite all the NPCs on screen is mind-blowing to me I mean it still disappears when it reaches the draw distance limit, but you can still find it.

All the shortcomings and issues this game has go out of the window just because it's sooooo fun to play. It's also impressive how many npcs they can fit on the screen at one time, as well the amount of freedom given to player.

I would love to see a sequel with Mercer combined with new tech for a lil more detail & destruction but not at the cost of performance. 1st prototype wasn't gorgeous but enough to get the mayhem & art style across

What I find interesting about the early 7th generation games was that rules were still being defined and refined. Prototype is such a clunky mess in retrospect. You sometimes have to buy a perk and you don't even need to use it for the mission, and the whole evolution store mechanic makes no sense with some of the upgrades being ridiculously expensive. But games like this taught lessons on what to keep and improve, and what to lope off like a cancerous growth.

Since the super hero and "Avengers level Threat" thingys got brought up i can't not say this. I think a villain like Alex Mercer would just be too fucking much for most of the Marvel Characters. Not like a Thanos that litterally snapped 50% of the universe out of reality, but in an "Almost unstopable One Man Army of Mass Destruction" kind of way. I mean he could probably fucking absorb Hulk while he's getting beaten up by him or Dead Pool and become a permanently regenerating, bisexual sexoffender with wrinkly skin.
