So fun to watch you get into another plant type. Thank you for sharing with us. My favorite was the delicate, fern looking one. it is stunning. Good for you for treating yourself and you do not have to justify yourself to anyone. You do you! One thing I have learned from you is to enjoy the underside of the foilage. Before, I never gave it a thought! Cheers!🎉
Basie, you said you were born May 10th. That's the same date and month my husband and I got married, 56 yrs ago. Must be a good day. I really like that last begonia, it's very special. Have fun with your other un-boxing's.
I absolutely love you! I love begonias! Hoya is my first love, but I get begonias every summer. I have so many hoyas, I have no room for a terrarium, I wish I did. I love your begonia videos and info. ❤
I have a bipinnatifida and it is honestly one of my easiest begonia. It has grown absolutely massive and I keep it out in ambient room conditions. To be fair, I do grow it in pon though, and I think I remember you don't love pon. I also grow my chlorosticta red in pon, and it is also tolerant of room conditions, though it does do better in cabinet conditions.
Hoya are my favorite, but I also have some gesneriads. I love Primulina and semi-mini/mini violets. I don't have any Episcia ... yet. Thanks for the great content!
I love Gesneriads as well! I am looking for some small ones, like Primulina sinovietnamica. While that one might be a bit too difficult to get here, I am sure I will find some other cool Gesneriads :D
I used to have two episcias, but they died long ago because I didn't know their care really lol. Thank god they weren't too pricy. Lovely begonias, they are so lovely. Def need lots of humidity though, so I only have like two lol. Can't wait to see how your begonias grow out! So pretty
Not sure why Episcia aren’t more popular, or maybe they are popular in secret? They are so unique (oh that pearly sheen!) I have had “Episcia Pink Shimmering Valley” since 2020. It arrived molten, but after about half a year in the cabinet is started to thrive (and I am so glad I didn’t chuck it). It is a very full, always flowering trailing plant now and definitely counted among one of my fav plants. Looking forward to seeing your Episcias grow big! (Will you make an Episcia wall?)
How I raised my humidity in my Ikea terrariums by I adding a black capillary mat that I add water to and keep moist but the plants are in cache pots so they are not sitting in the water. I also added tiny glass containers of water amongst my plants. It’s worked really well!
Episcias are so delicate... Usually after shipping I have to restart them because they are super damaged 😅. But since they are easy to grow it doesn't matter. Yours were packed perfectly 😊
I have both begonia and episcia in my collection. My episcia all grow in ambient conditions and get very large and trailing. They are so easy where I live. I do love them alot, but the leaf variation is nothing like what you find with begonia. My begonia are in ambient conditions and in terrariums. I try to get ones no bigger that 10 inches for the terrarium. The larger ones are the ambient variety. Some are just spectacular. And so inexpensive compared to hoya. In the States we have some begonia growers that have very good prices. Of the begonia you showed, I think I like the one with the pink edge. It was the first one you unwrapped. What a beauty.
I would like to know about the piece of music played at the end of your videos.......(ear worm), lol. I love you and watch your shows over and over. One thing....when it comes to measurements and temperatures can you please give us the American version....T.Y. Love the hair change and sometimes I use pon to replace the lava rock I use on the bottom of my plants. Works very well. : )
I'll watch begonia content, but they just do not do it for me. So, luckily, I'm safe from that obsession. I went hard into gesneriads about 20 years ago (AV's, streps, columnea,.nematanthus), but I never had episcias. Now I can't remember why. I think my perception was that they needed more humidity than I was willing to provide them. They are super pretty, though!
Oh, there will be more gesneriads for sure xD I am looking into some terrarium ones for my Rudsta and I have seen some very beautiful ones that make nice hanging baskets!
They’re beautiful Miro! I’ve never seen Episcia before but you’re right, they remind me of coleus. I adore coleus and grow the black forms outside as annuals usually. Anyway gorgeous! The begonias are lovely. I don’t think I can get into begonias but I would like to…..
I don't know what it is, but begonias freak/creep me out. LOL However, thanks you, Fern (who mentioned CSN), Sober Plant Guy, and Planted in Rhodes Island, I now have 18 in just a matter of months. HALP! 😂 ❤🇨🇦
I guess they're okay. (cue me adding them all to my wish list.) 😬🫣 😅 Would love to see a collab with Fern about you both growing begonias. Battle of the Begonias! 😂
Thank you for the video and the "introduction" of Episcias. I have two, one silvery and one dark reddish leaved. Don't have any names, I bought them for their looks😊 Easy growers for me, but apparently they like to stay moist and I'm an incorrigible overwaterer
Hi! I'm from Ukraine 🇺🇦 I like your plant content🌱❤️ I'm not good enough in Episcias, but I can translate the name of "Kurochka Ryaba" (means "speckled chicken"🐔), seems because leaves schape and color are similar to speckled chicken feathers. And ukrainians realy have a folk fairy tale about speckled chicken😆
That was so good! I love begonias. I currently have a "Tiger Paw" and just received a Begonia "Silver Jewel" and they currently live in my Ikea cabinet. Oh, I also have 2 more that are living among us that are quite common, the Maculata and the Benigo Pink. Thanks for the video and I look forward to more! ❤ from 🇨🇦 😊
Hi Miro. I have only 2 begonias and found they are like Calathea and Alocasia in that they need to stay moist and not dry out. The enclosed containers should work great. They are beautiful plants. The prop easy from stem or leaf which makes them super cool
Welp...I. AM. IN. TROUBLE!🤦🏽♀️ Now I have to start a gosh darn ding dang begonia budget along with my hoya budget. And I just randomly rescued a mini orchid from Lowe's.😮💨 One good thing about begonias is I have a weird aversion to those creepy "bug hairs and toad bumps", so that will help rule out a few.😂💚✌🏽
Begonias… loved them and they were doing super well, until one day- just died… one by one. Especially I was sad of my huge Snail begonia! Never again 😅 but honestly, never heard about episcia plants! Would be interesting to jave one big pot of different varieties of them I will wait when Miro gets hooked on orchids 😊
Gesneriads! I suggest Episcia Harmony’s Slinky Pink for pink blooms. That begonia is amazing! I have two fussy ones-‘Partita’ and amphioxus, and found they do well in pon
Have you seen ginny galaxy begonias? I’m a cheap date when it comes to begonias-my absolute favorite is the cracklin’ rosie. It’s just so beautiful to me. Mine is my most stunning begonia by far.
I don’t know either but I do know they’re 🤑🤑🤑 Or at least they were the last time I looked at them. Not that I don’t have some expensive plants, but I’m not experienced enough with begonias to blow that kind of cash. lol
Fascinating! I made it through and still have no interest in these plants. Not for me, but always interested in what Miro is doing so I’m here to support. No hate but a girl likes what she likes and apparently continues to dislike what she dislikes. Yeah for the wallet today. 🎉 Good luck with all your babies!!
