the low frequency noise is from the speaker, which is designed to let the people that walks around to notice the car when it in slow speed and it's much more obvious from the outside of the car, because the electric vehicle is too quite and too dangerous if they have not noise.. actually most of the EV vehicles have the same setting, like Tesla, you will find low frequency noise when you drive in slow speed.. but the noise varies from brands and models, just like different ring tones of different phones.😂
all evs especially in black colour with dark windows in winter autumn months or very grey cloudy days and after dusk ( HARDER to see) . SCHOOL KIDS , and pedestrians on their way to work in the morning wearing head phones or glued to their screen on their phone BEWARE when crossing roads and especially at junctions.
A very good review. There are things that you touch on that I have not seen anyone else doing. I get so much from this review that I will actually consider buying one. Thanks, Bobby!
Other car makers from what I've heard is already in big trouble. Chinese car makers dont just stop here. They will keep on improving and flooding the market.
To solve the humming issue, another solution is to mask the speaker in the bonnet, I did it with my Atto 3, it’s reduced the humming sound tremendously, been driving it for the last 6 months without any complain
Humming noise is a safety feature in the car. It is activated when speed is 30km n below. Its for people who to hear n note that a car is approaching as EV engine is very quiet. Not for driver to hear.... Why remove it ss it would prevent accidents
There's a lot of videos showing how simple it is to unplug the speaker.... it takes about 20 seconds. In Australia, there is no law that requires the low-speed sound.
this hymming sound is actually a feature in Atto 3, its called Engine Sound Simulator. you can change the sound setting to another type of sound in settings of car. its annoying but if you play some music instead you can barely hear it, especailly if you also open window..
door handles , air vents ,and guitar string pocket door walls are a little to toy land style for me . Can you imagine yer young kids getting bored and playing about with the side pocket strings everytime you drive along , no kidding it will drive you nuts
That humming noise is intentionally generated by a small device under the engine hood. That is to warn people around there is a car approaching at low speed, since EV is so quiet. That is for safety purpose. Some people unplug the device, but it is not recommended. In many countries, this warning system is mandatory.
At the 34th minute you rightly pointed out the problem which I detected before coming across your video, I thought it was my atto 3 problem but seems like a standard deviation on all the atto 3. The driver dashboard screen on the steering wheel base is indeed slightly slanted to the left. Not upright at 90 degrees.
Another solid & comprehensive down to earth review. Bobby, wow you gave such high score for this Atto3 even better than the Germans which cost double the price! BYD is the EV to go for at this price range. p/s As for the irritating "humming engine sound", I read that some owners in Australia disabled it by disconecting the wire!
This vehicle already launched in India before here the noise warning for other road users to realize something approaching them, it's already discussed by many car reviewers there
Hello Bobby, thanks for the review, I hv test drive the Atto 3 a month ago, and I think the humming sound during slow speed can be solved almost immediately by turning on the audio play/ radio and it will cover or soften the noisy that annoyed you isn't it?
Btw I tested the Atto 3 again last weekend as they came to Ipoh Parade for promotion. So, I posted your question/issue to the salesman, and he said the sound can be adjusted or turned off. But I didn't try it. Hope what he said is correct.
i'm considering a new SUV for family oriented car. Mazda CX-5, BYD Atto 3, Honda HR-V , Proton X70, which would you recommend from your personal POV in city drive and daily commute ?
Hi, I'm on my way to own ATTO3 but I realizes that they used China brand tyre A21 batman. IYO, would you change to another reliable trusted tyre brand like Michelin/ Continental?
hey Bobby you thought the signal is on your left too ? I did that when I had my test drive too… it might be too much of continental touch and feel that mistakenly illusionalize it’s something like German car 👀
Hi Bobby)) So its only one button (switch) to sport, just one click) Second standard/high is the level of brake recuperation, nothing to do with sport)
Yes it is. But they should look at how European car makers make nice sounds that doesn't annoy. The sounds emitted cannot be too homogenous or single tone.
The pedestrian warning system, there's a visible connector in the front part of the car, you can just unplug it and no more noise and no error message.
Bobby, what do you think about Mazda CX5 vs BYD ATTO 3? I’m considering either 1. Already got 1 Vios now, planning to get another SUV for family use, and travel work to home like that
This car should be at 100k to 120k price point to make sense.. at 150k there are so many better choice petrol car and Malaysian petrol price is not a factor to choose a 150k electric car.
Can you review the BYD's ADAS system? I heard their ADAS on lane keeping assist is terrible on their models from China reviewers, and I'm unsure whether this has been fixed. If it is a problem, it is such a deal breaker for EV choices, since BYD and Tesla is the choice to go to for under 200K. Tesla's shitty Tesla Vision is scary and chased me out of it.
It is true that Atto 3 can charge with 3 pin plug from home socket and no need to install the AC home charger? If yes then it will be very practical to charge in my office or home
Hi Bobby, Everyone is talking about the cornering of this car is very bad. I am going to get mine around end of March. Do you have any suggestions how I can reduce the body roll and increase the grip. Now what I can think of is to change to Continental UC6, I think UC7 doesn't have the 17inch size.
I don't think you should be modding this car in any way because it is so comfortable. You wanna enjoy handling and driving go buy a used proton iriz :)
Mmmm, it's actually for safety purpose. The car skips and body roll is too obvious. Some owner said the body roll happens even when they are driving around 60kmj around corner. The Batman Atlas tyre doesn't have the grip especially during raining time.
@@eddvangtc2944 Well Bobby just proved to us that with this tyre full throttling in sport mode on a damp morning asphalt can already send this car crazy haha
bro "If you include the company’s plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, it already overtook Tesla in 2022, and its sales of fully electric vehicles soared to around 911,000 last year from 321,000 in 2021." So technically BYD did not overtake tesla in EV sales.
Other EV car try to make the driving experience more different than ICE car with super acceleration... while BYD try to make an EV car drive like a ice car 😆😅.
Dude try to use Chinese flagship mobile brands like oppo , honor , OnePlus or Xiaomi u will never regret... Samsung to me just rubbish overpriced products
I know how not to get that annoying voice assistant pop up whenever you say BYD. So just change your pronunciation of BYD. Instead of saying B-Y-D simply say BY-D which will sound as bye-D.
EV cars should sell below 50k...forget it when it is selling above 100k and i still need to be at mercy of tnb, need to charge frequently, not enough place to charge, high maintenance parts etc...
@@realmlee8803 If they sell below 50k, it's no point for them to invest EV in Malaysia. However, i understood where you're coming from. As long for Msia to have petrol subsidy, there is no reason to get EV unless you just want a second car as a fun car. Other countries are different because their petrol price is high, so they have valid reason to get EV but not all willing to do so due to charging infrastructure. Msia, need to get used to hybrid 1st before their mindset can change to EV.
@@jcsenhamster315 agree with you bro and thks for yr inputs... I foresee the ev car price will come down once they have economy of scale... Perodua would come out their Axia EV version in future... Just a matter of time. Is always the same, new technology will be selling very high price and will come down few yrs later... The EV buyer now can show off bcox they are the early adopters. But i prefer to wait when EV cars have fast charging battery... Concept similar to our phone battery.
