Sweet! I've been working on a black powder project too. It's a scratch built match lock Handgonne. 50 cal smooth barrel. The barrel and the sleeve over the breech of the barrel were both hand forged. I'm working on the hammer and trigger lever then a couple bands. It's going to be fun. I proofed the barrel 5 times. A few with 250 grains of ffg then a really heavy projectile with 250 grains and a 1/4" air gap. I had it in a steel vise and still had trouble holding it because of the recoil. I'm still working on your care package. Will probably be in the mail by the weekend.
30 grains of BP is not a small load. It's near max load in a 44 cap and ball revolver. You're probably using homemade corned BP which is a lot lighter, so mesure by volume is far from accurate. If someone tries this with 30 grains of Swiss, they will get a major surprise...
That is a fun video! I could see the fun in your eyes and face as you discovered the discovery of primitive cannons. I am glad it worked. (I'm also glad nothing untoward occurred.) I did miss the part where you said "It's alive!" Oh! You must conjure a 'rifling' mechanism. Maybe even real sights.
