Love the Old World content. Big Edit Suggestion/Request: It would probably be better to just leave pictures if the current turn or current and previous if really short on shots, rather than just cycling them from the start of each battle. I know it's more editing, but it makes the game much easier to follow and avoids spoilers. I'm not sure why this just doesn't bother me for the 40k reports, but just doesn't feel good with the fantasy ones for some reason...maybe it's just easier to :read the board: keep up the good work beardling
I love that people entirely forgot that horde formations existed in 8th which was much worse. Anyway people affraid of line hammer dont play enough . Blocks of infantry need all the help they can get
I remind you that panic tests do not cause a unit to flee in TOW unless it's below 50% of its models. You only fall back in good order otherwise (and thus unique models can never flee because of a failed panic test). Panic tests are way less punitive in TOW than in previous editions. You should never lose more than 1 unit due to shooting causing panic turn 1, because the other failed panic tests around shall only move units to a maximum of 6". Thanks for the battle reports ! Very entertaining.
I’m confused, are you not supposed to be deciding the fate of Thanatos today? 🤔 Do you ever plan on doing an Old World narrative event on the same vein as the Fate of Thanatos? Would 1000% be up for that.
Tactical use of the line formation is perfectly valid, cheesy linehammer is not. Adopting it defensively like you did was a great move, let us not forget it is a real world tactic and has just as many contextual downsides in the game as upsides. Keep the Old World content coming please!
24:47 - That’s wild LOL.. sometimes that’s why I think it’s better not to just straight mathshammer stuff out. Just there being the possibility of it happening means you’re giving it the opportunity to happen. The difference between a 6+ ward and light armour is huge for this reason.
You know, Old World is barely 5 Months old. If one wants to paint good it's gonna take some time.i would not want to just buy a ton of rare plastic, jerk some colours on it just to play tournaments early. I think it's okay to play grey tournaments for the first year.
@@hpenvy1106 a 3 round tournament is like 7-8 hours, can paint at least a third of that army in that time, 2 months is more than enough time to at least put basecolors down
Yeah it’s sad to see. I’m always a bit upset when an opponent turns up with an army of half primed or grey models. It kills any immersion. I have never and will never field a single mode that isn’t painted up fully and based to parade ready standards. Obviously don’t expect that from everyone but it feels a little… insulting when i’ve spent hundreds of hours painting my army and the other person can’t even be bothered to get some base colours down.
consider this king layout: smiting, fury, preservation. A little less blendy than the triple fury king but even a single wound can kill or criple any monster or hero.
There is nothing wrong with linehammer. This is what makes infantry able to compete. It has its disadvantages, so it is really far from being op. Congrats on your appearance!
Tweek your list a bit. Switch a unit of Longbeards for a unit of Rangers. Still have great weapons but also crossbows. Good BS and stand/ shoot. Trade that extra Thane for a Rune Smith. Gives you some dispell and boosts a unit with flaming attacks and armor bane.
Oh boy, I hope peoples hatred towards not yet painted armies doesn't become the defining trait of the TOW community. The comment section's a little obnoxious today.
@20:45 @MordianGlory can you provide a bit more details. Previously during the first encounter both your units won combat against the beastmen so both units would have lost Frenzy. Did the have Frenzy during the 2nd combats. Did both of them roll double 1's on primal fury to get the frenzy back?
Linehammer is a dark stain on TOW imho, there are very few scenarios where you would not want to utilize this "tactic". My local group has limited the number of models in the front rank to 10 as a "house rule" and I hear our local TO's have followed suit. Having said that all is fair in competitive play.
Id rather have it be "only adjacent models get a supporting attack" issue with a fixed width is everything becomes that width. When it's enemy width +2 as the cap it's more dynamic
@@stepansraka3608 Ya people try harding would still do linehammer regardless. Some infantry is pretty weak but not every unit is, TOW needs some major balance tweaks imho
Wasn't sure about Old World at first. I love Warhammer Fantasy lore but the gameplay seemed very... intense. But, god do I love the Dwarfs. Absolutely spectacular army. I enjoy the Empire, don't get me wrong, but Dwarfs are my favorites fantasy race and Old World Dwarfs are the absolute best fantasy Dwarfs. If I ever get into Old World, it will be for the Dwarfs and I'd love to see more army lists for them featuring some of the more wacky units.
Brother. You hurt my soul when you said you prefer the organ gun to the hellblaster 😂... next time you play empire just take as many engineers as the comp will allow (3 normally)... the re-rolls are clutch. Love the after action report content 👊
I have played a few games as dwarves versus a very good beastmen player. Dwarves are at a great disadvantage versus the beastmen. The beastmen army you played was not what I would call a highly optimized tournament list but a lot of people are limited by models. More than one unit of beast infantry is a waste and a handicap. Even then the only thing they are good for is a doombull support unit. I am curious if the beast player was using thunderstomp, that is usually just hellish against dwarves but the keyword thunderstomp is missing from the gorgon data sheet even though as a behemothit has thunderstomp. Easy to miss this if you are a new player.
Dwarfs have quite a few armies with which they are disadvantaged. Wood Elves will shoot you down before you get there. Same for the Empire. Our cannons compared to the Imperials are a laughable joke. We have a lot of problems with the dragon for this reason too. I have played a few games against these armies and I am with these rules feeling helpless.
@@grlmgor While rangers stand a chance against glade guard, iron drakes will never get an elgi into drakegun range unless you kneecap them first. Even rangers are at a disadvantage, since asrai bows have extra 2'' range on xbow and asrai special arrows hurt a lot.
I personally prefer Ironbreakers with a king and long beards with a thane similar to the one you had. And recently i've almost abandoned my warmachines though i've found that Rangers are great
