Anthem deserved better .

In my opinion there has never been another game that lets you just fly around in an open world immediately engage in combat and leave. The power fantasy and combat mechanics were sooo good

This game had SOOOOOO much promise and had a really great engine. Hopefully, SOMEONE picks it up and does it justice.

It sucks because EA had Anthem 2.0 in the works, they showed how the whole game was going to change , specs , new classes everything. But they pulled the plug on 2.0

Its honestly SHOCKING that you even CAN play this game in 2024. Id have expected EA to shut the servers down years ago.

This game had so much potential for something grand. If EA weren't so greedy, they could have kept the OG development team intact from the beginning and delivered on the epic story we were led to believe it was going to have. I'm honestly surprised the servers are still live. I can only hope that one day EA will see what they missed and will put another team together to finish what was started.

I miss this game so much. The 'base' ranger class actually had such a wonderful gameplay loop centered around grenade and gun combo's/multipliers that felt better than most other games I've ever played. They absolutely nailed the personality of each class and you never felt bad being grouped with any variation of suits because they all brought great stuff to the table. Heartbreaking what happened to the game honestly.

I really enjoyed Anthem, as a person with over 246 hours. The combat is actually fun, and the flight is some of the best flight I have played. You can actually feel how different the different suits are in playstyles. There was decent variance in weapons. You could customize your suits and load out. This game actually seemed like it would challenge Destiny.

I think im going to re-install and just mess around with some flying and combat. Miss this game!! I loved the combat gameplay and flying. It all gave such a great adrenaline feeling.

It's on sale again on all platforms. I just started and got a group on the first mission. Quite a few people still play.

I didn't know you could still play this, but that said this game had so much potential that was squandered caused by development hell.

Totally maxed out 3 of the 4 exos. I loved this game so much, have about 400 hours in it. I cant tell you how livid i was with ea for stopping support. Never touching another ea game again

I LOVED Anthem… its 10x better with friends too. I never understood the hate… but I also did NOT play it at launch. I played it more than a year after it released. I was sad that it died… so much potential.

I remember there being a lady in some corner shop. All the npcs kept saying she had like the worst items in shop, but the first thing I bought before I unlocked the colossus, was an upgrade that made the colossus essentially immortal with a lot of armor. It got me to the endgame without ever dying or even getting hurt. I stopped playing a while ago so I don’t remember much. I remember cloning the bald person and eventually getting to the mission where I was like in another dimension and the voice lines were like “oh I’m hurt I’m barely making it out of here” and I took like no damage because of the very first thing I bought from that lady’s shop. I may be missing some important detail but whatever ig.

Oh man..... I wanted soooo badly to be super in love with this game. In some ways I kind of was. As you stated very accurately, the bones were amazing. I played day 1, and the game had a lot of issues at the start that took a while to fix, then there was lack of content(end game close to non exostant and story content was very short as well), and some major balance issues. I personally really enjoyed my time playing it, mained an interceptor and it was really enjoyable to me. Darting around, super OP melee, just felt right to me. Had moment that it was super squish, but there were some mechanics to help mitigate that. It was an amazing idea, and they did do really good at some aspects of the game, as other ls have said it is a shame that it didn't have the support it needed because I can only imagine how awesome it would be right now.

What they did to this game is a tragedy. It had so much promise.

I loved and to some extent still love this game. So much potential and I had so much hope for it. I would love for someone to pick it up and give it a reboot or refresh. Man, if Anthem had the same or comparable level of support to say The Division 2, it would immediately become part of my game rotation. I still go back and play it from time to time because it's fun.

I haven't had the chance to play Anthem yet and I still feel absolutely heartbroken knowing that it will never reach its full potential. The trailers alone were enough to convince me that this could have been something so special. If only it had gotten a fair chance.

Honestly with this game this was the one time devs should have ignored soi boys and continued the game

I played a Goliath when it first launched. The synergies are amazing behind it. A few times you were trying to get the strategy for certain encounters the synergy between attacks would have helped out a lot.

Me and a couple friends just recently picked this up and it’s pretty damn fun so far! Only a few hours in but we’re having a blast so far. The fluidity of the movement with the fun combat is really cool!

how did you even log in? everytime i try title screen pops up servers are no longer available, talked to EA rep and they said anthem servers has been shutdown years ago and i am not able to play the game anymore

I just picked it up a few days ago and Im loving it. Its a shame theres not really many players to matchmake with. I keep getting the same few players, if any.

A game too look into which has similar gameplay to anthem is “the first descent” played the beta recently and its actually really good

From what i remember their were some weakpoints for each bosses which drain more health when hit with bullet or any elemental attack.

Struggling to find an experience like the one you had in Anthem when you run, jump off a high platform, freefall then fly, awesome. There is surely a cracking game here somewhere.

It was such a good starting point for a bigger game.

No way they did nothing to this game, maybe they doing something in secret and prepare for a comeback.

As someone who came back to this game like 7 months ago I’ve been loving it but it could’ve been so much more

Anthem when it came out was my fav game for 2 years, then it died.. And it broke my heart so bad. Idk why everyone left, I felt the game was perfect!

My environmental art teacher said he did a lot of concept art for Anthem, most were flowers, shrubs, and some trees. Most of which never made it through the final project. However, it is a common thing. You’ll draw up over 100 things only for 1 or none to be used, but asked to draw up another hundred variations of whatever they’re looking for.

God it makes me cry seeing this and not thinking of how great it could have been

The combat, the mech suit movements, the world were amazing.

The game was abandoned by the team back in the days but didn’t expect you would get into it I have thousandz of hours of fun on anthem

Played through Anthem twice and like you said, at the core, EVERYTHING about the game was PERFECT!!! The movement mechanics were incredible, the areas looked AMAZING!!!! It was really theirs to throw away as it really could have been an INCREDIBLE title for a LOOOONG TIME!!! Could have been along the lines of Destiny with being a great looter shooter for ages to come, it is such a heartbreak that they just threw it down the toilet.

picked this up last yr for a few bucks when i got covid last year. spent 269hrs in it - there's nothing left to do/upgrade, but i pop by occasionally to do some flying which is still 1 of the best experiences imo.

Lmao. I absolutely screamed when you used the interceptor. It’s a speedy melee glass canon* build. You snipe and then run in and do clean up. And yes the super is just a big melee. Your supposed to do hit and run crowd control It helps when you have a team. Solo, the interceptor is like hard mode. You are the blade to the titans shield to the rangers steady damage and the storms crowd control.

Hopefully with more coverage of this game we one day gain some traction and it gets picked up again. Hard presses even today to find a game that feels as good as this did

As a person who logged many hours in Anthem even after thry stopped supporting it which was pretty early in the games life. The biggest problem was setver stability when it released. EA rushed Bioware to release this game before it was ready to launch.

I def remember being a broke college kid debating between anthem and Div 2. Went with div cause I was skeptical about anthem 🤣 now I’m a broke adult recently coming back to Div 🙃

I actually know a guy who worked on this game. He was a BioWare veteran and he left the studio because of this game

I had great fun with this game for like a year back when they had events and new stuff every week, playing it now that the service is offline is kind of a drag, not a perfect game but depending on your personal taste it has everything you hope in terms of gameplay at least. The flying mechanic is the best up to this day.

i loved and miss this game. it had SO MUCH potential imo . just like wildstar MMO. as a person that was there on release i miss this game a lot.

I've played all of the major looter shooters, and Anthem, by far, has the most fun gunfights. I really hope someone makes a similar game soon.

The flow state i would get into this game comboing, dashing and flying across the battlefield was unparalleled.

I happened to join the game 4 years later and still play it to this day. It’s just sad that it ended up how it is, but it’s still fun to play.

I miss this game. I was obsessed while it was still supported. It got to the point where I couldn't move in the map and I had to stop.

I played and completed the main story of Anthem in 2023 fantastic game. I wanted to keep playing, as I really was enjoying it, but most post main campaign content required a party and it was difficult finding people to do it with.

I actually got this game for my birthday, the same year it came out, I never heard about it or seen it before i got it as a present, and to be honest, I quite enjoyed the game, but now that i look back i still think the game was decent to play, but there was a lack of content which was quite upsetting as i actually enjoyed it

If I knew how to develop games I would put up thousands of my own money to see a concept like Anthem brought back. I loved combat mechanics and how badass you felt just dropping into a fight. An Anthem-like game on Unreal Engine 5 would be massive!!

Theres a lot of parallels between Anthem and The First "The Division" Game. BOth games were extremely ambitious. With technical aspects that were just ahead of its time and frankly could not be supported by the engines they were on as well as the computers of most players. As someone who has played tons of looter shooters such as Warframe, Anthem and others. I want to say that for me. The largest drawback of this game was the loading times going from the hub into the actual game. So many load screens. But the actual gameplay and the world was astonishing and beautiful. The various weapons were all actually different. I remember trying the flamethrower on the tank. Having an electric gun of some sort. It was very unique. As well as the completely different gameplay style of the various classes. It was phenomenal. I do think the game was over hated and if the communities just supported it a little more the game could have corrected a lot of its problems.

I played it back in the day and every few months i jump back on it. Its a really good game. Free play is fun and theres always one or two others on (i play grandmaster 1 difficulty) and the boss fights are awesome. Its always cool getting new legendary gear and comparing the perks that are attached are a really good way of doing things!

I remember this game fondly. I bought the founder pack and everything. It was great to play and had a really neat universe, and was super beautiful. They just couldn't get it all to come together. I really wish it would make a comeback. (Been playing Warframe to fill the void in my life)

oh god Anthem... I remember telling myself this is going to be a game that I'd play next to Division 2. What happened to Anthem is tragic. btw, If I remember the ult of the Interceptor gives you faster and higher melee damage, plus you are immune to damage during the ult. I believe with some mods you can extend the duration of the ult and increase damage, which was good for Boss fights. It's been a while so I'm not 100% sure if that's still the case.

I miss this game. It is really amazing. I love the lore, the ost, graphics, the concept about the exos... 😢

The feel of movement and the fantasy of having an ironman suit are the best things about this game, the issue for me was the lack of content after about 40-50 hours, id smashed that bug boss about 200 times on the hardest difficulty, going back would be difficult but not impossible

I was so hyped for this game and even tho the game didnt turn out to be a S+ game I unlocked everything. Now we will see what The First Descendant will bring us this year 😊

This game can still be great after all these years. Someone needs o help them out content wise. The graphics and controls are on point. It could use better damage scaling, but all in all it just really needs more lore. And a couple more suits with different abilities.

I'm a 3rd type not brought up; Played Anthem, woe-d it's abandonment, and caught sight of this video and got curious what a "fresh perspective " in 2024 would be of it after i played around with the game adn got to the point where i ran out of "enjoyable" content i was pulled to try out GR: Breakpoint; wildly different games but in overall gameplay mechanics Anthem hold so much novel and innovative potential that as wasted, it is saddening and maddening; and your perspective is appreciated and agreed with; also I went Interceptor first unlock myself

Hi! Just thought I would mention you can play this at 60fps on Xbox - just need to turn on the option for the game it has that backwards compatibility performance option.

I played the game from launch and loved it. It was the end game where I started to feel like something was missing. I played on Xbox back then and after watching this is played is on PlayStation. I had a good time actually and to my surprise a lot of people were playing too. The launch bay was filled with players. So I’m gonna stick around for bit with this game again. Thanks man!

Of all the games series to make a big comeback this is the one I can see coming back one day. definitely not any time soon.

The premise and gameplay of anthem was great. You just had to look past all of the game breaking bugs that were in it for the first few months of release, like being stuck behind a barrier if you spawned in mid-mission. And the barebones end-game content. Being a big Mass Effect fan, I was hoping for better, considering Bioware scrapped future Mass Effect Andromeda content to focus on this, which even that game seemed lackluster compared to the original trilogy.

This deserved the Anthem "Next" update! Flying mechanics was so fun!

Got it got 1$ on PC last year and then 100% it. I'ven done quite a few coop expeditions, got some high tier legendary gear, etc. It's most wasted potential in history of wasted potentials. I've considered preordering it. Even world map gets snowy on Christmas. Make initial word 2x bigger, add more in story dlc, few patches and you have decend game. It looks and runs great.

this game was one of my favorite games. I never thought this was a bad game. I loved the Storie, the effects, the playstyle and the grsphics were ahead of its time.

I played from day one and i lived it till i stopped playing my only problem with it was seemed like i played 80% of campaign solo, only time i saw other players was in open world

My favorite Javelin is the Storm I really hope another team picks up the game and does it justice this time around. It was great when it first came out but it lacked support and updates.

This is one of those games, like titanfall two, or ghost recon wildlands, that I pick up and binge every once in a while, and remember how fun they are. I wish more people liked the game and it got further development. So much potential that's not going anywhere.

After watching this video I decided to give it a go for a playthrough..but I could not get the game to launch on ps5..it would crash before getting to title screen. I didn't try to delete and re download... really enjoyed the video and videos like these

I used to play that game back in 2019 I had so much hope for that game announce just a carcass of what it once was to me

Devs have a recent obsession with making everyone Medium Range DPS. You see this in Helldivers 2, (you can equip a sniper but engagement range is still 30 Meters tops), in newer mmos like ffxiv, pretty much everywhere. And I think this is what killed anthem, you can be Mid Range DPS gunner with the Ranger, Short-Mid Range CQC DPS with the interceptor, Caster Mid Range DPS with the Storm, and tanky Mid Range DPS with the Colossus. No supports, no actual tank, it means enemies can't actually fairly deal substantial damage, and it means that the game can only ever appeal to the lowest common denominator.

This is HD II on steroids. Gonna get it ASAP. Completely forgot about this gem

Back in the day when the reveal trailer had just came out, me and my 4 friends preorder the game we even played the beta, we were so excited when it came out and played for 2 months straight, then we started to notice that the game was so repetitive and higher dificulty was only bigger health pools, also there was little to no progresion in the campaing, bugs started to show up, and eventually it died. We were so mad BC we had our hopes up, and till this day we just feel bad for what this game could have Been

I wanted this to be my next Destiny sooo much. And I loved so much about it. There just wasn’t enough to explore, it was terribly bugged and the loot was terrible for months. I was one of the diehards that kept playing while others left, and was very much looking forward to 2.0. Such a shame.

Like pretty much every live service game, Anthem struggled early on. Long load screens ... class imbalances ... etc. But the internet absolutely destroyed its reputation out of the gate and COVID came through and jacked up the efforts to rehab the game. I LOVED Anthem. I had a really good set of builds for all of my javelins ... I was really hopeful for what was being called Anthem 2.0, but unfortunately, public perception and a pandemic wrecked any chance this game had of being refined into a good experience. I still hold out some hope that the IP might be revisited in the future. Flying mechanics were SICK!

Im not a division player so I came here because I got the game on release and sold it a month later. Now Im curious of if anything changed. Also very good editing and commentary. You deserve a bigger audience
