The World Around & The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum present THE WORLD AROUND SUMMIT 2024.
In a digitised world that invites us to be insular, SO-IL (@solidobjectives) is looking outward to create spaces that strengthen connection.
#TWASummit2024 speakers Jing Liu and Florian Idenburg founded the New York-based design office in 2008. Since then, the studio has travelled to Leon, Seoul, Lisbon and other global cities, innovating with materials and experimenting with form across the scales of each project to enable a meaningful dialogue between contemporary design and historic context.
Going beyond an architecture that responds to the present, the duo’s practice is a continual, open-ended exploration into how we relate to each other and our environments-aiming to design dynamic spaces that can adapt and nurture communities over time. In its recent residential projects in Brooklyn, for examples, SO-IL is pushing frontiers in housing design to explore a question that has seemed ever-present over the past few years: What is a new model of living as a community?
