Hainan has文昌鸡飯 long before Malaya was existed, hainanese ancestors brought the recipe to Melaka （Singapore still non-exist in 15th century）with some twists to its ingredients. Hainan chicken rice first appeared in Melaka, Singapore got very thick skin to steal everything from Malaysia.
