As a SMT/Persona vet, the massive quality of life changes makes the game a fair bit easier and newcomers can ease right in. The game is still hard, but very manageable now for those new who were hesitant to dive in. Perfect balance of difficulty and it has everything for vets and newcomers alike. It truly feels like the Deluxe version of the original.

As someone who has been a long time fan of the Megami Tensei franchise, especially mainline, this is without a doubt one of the absolute best games Atlus has ever made. Not just one of the best SMT games, but one of the best JRPGs in decades. It. Is. That. Good.

The demon haunt alone makes this such a more interesting playthrough

Just got my PS5 version delivered. Have the orgiginal on Switch but had to get the PS5 version for that 4k and 60 FPS. Also got the launch edition so it came with a cool steel book.

I love this game, I put 100hrs on the SMT5 now I’m bout to put another 100hrs on vengeance, It’s one of the best RPGs of all time 💯

SMT V was my introduction to the series. 100% the original. It(and Monster Hunter Rise) price dropped pretty quickly so I'm not going to rush to get this one Day One.

I haven’t played SMT since 3DS, and I’ve only really played Persona 5 Royal, so I’m not super familiar with the whole franchise but I know enough that I enjoy it. I was really liking the way this game sounded but this review is why I ended up buying it. I’m glad I didn’t buy the first release of SMT 5. I’m glad this will be my first experience of it.

Very excited to play it. I bought physical for the Switch for the collection, because I’m a collector of certain favorite series. But ultimately when I have time to revisit this, probably in fall, I’ll buy it on Steam and play it on the Deck. I spent about 100 hours on the original release and I’m very excited to try out the new campaign.

I played the heck out of SMT 5 on switch and my copy should be coming in tomorrow. I'm super stoked to play on PS5 and that more peeps can play it!

So, people don't understand how good most of the SMT games are. Remember, the Persona games are SMT games, just with his name stripped out. Those games are based on a series SMT started and they are really good, why wouldn't the games that still have his name be at least just as good?

SMTV felt a lot better than Persona 5, but I beat Persona 5 and haven't beaten SMTV. It's an interestingly paced game, so whenever I had a break point I would take it and it would become a backlog game.

Yes. Just don’t be the guy who doesn’t know how to play the game at 60 fps with good hardware. Seeing some of those comments in the reviews on Steam. Game runs like a dream on PC and on the Steam Deck. You just need to know how to optimize if you want lower watts on the SD with 40-60fps. Normally 60 fps 720p on OG deck is 24-25 watts but you can knock it down 10-15w.

The main thing is the new story path, the original story is nonexistent, the new one actually has cutscenes and dialogue with characters, its awesome now

Liking it so far. Never was into turn based RPG’s but the TTYD Remake changed that. What I don’t get is how the prot is a guy. I’ve never seen a man so feminine that is not a ts.

I loved the first game as someone who wanted to explore SMT as a persona 3 and 5 fan. I sadly didn't get to finish the game and I was so close but when I found out this edition was coming I was like well trade in the old for new and try again when it's out ❤ I did invest so much into it though and it's really complex but worth it

SMT5 took long to make because Atlus was learning the unreal engine and covid(like other games) negatively affected the developement and quality of SMT5. SMT5 Vengence is closer to what the developers have wanted.

hands down the best RPG I have ever played, I cannot believe how fun the gameplay is, by the end you are like level 90+ish having team consist of gods from culture and religion all over the world, and you yourself have ascended beyond god, still the last boss on hard kick my ass lol

Just ordered the game yesterday for PS5. It was on sale for 44 euros. I've played a fair share of SMT games but found them a bit monotonous before (SMT Strange Journey, IV, Digital Devil Saga, the PSP Remakes of 1 and 2, Nocturne), I mean don't get me wrong, they are at it's core great jrpgs, just a bit mind numbing in the long run (and every SMT game is very long). So i'm REALLY curious how this new SMT game is, people sometimes call it the best Jrpg of the generation. I really hope they went more creative regarding the dungeon exploring, that was always one of the weaker points in the series imho (also in Persona, altho P5 really tried to bring some fresh air). But the dungeon designs are always a big point where japanese rpgs fall flat. I recently played thru Death end re;quest and oh boy don't get me started. So i'm really excited to see what they did new with this one.

Steam Deck can lock 60fps in this game at Switch settings and resolution. Max settings and native res, it'll lock 50fps (though I recommend doing 45 if you have an OLED so the refresh rate is 90hz)

If you have your fps at unlimited on desktop, do you have to always switch it back to 60 on Steam Deck? I had to do this all the time wirh P3R bc I'd play at 120fps and the deck could only handle it at 60.

Shin megami is great, although smt 3 and 4 are the best ones for me. I did finish smt 5 on switch and i liked it a lot too. Ill be getting vengence soon, to experience the new story and stuff.

Got the original for my Switch earlier but I never finished it because of time and other games. Now Im thinking about selling that copy and get it for my Series S I got last year, but Im still not sure because of that price point.

Is anyone encountering a bug where your X button keeps being selected over and over and tries to constantly swap between keyboard to controller when this occurs I've tested several other games and it's not my steam deck that is having a problem if I were to exit game and re enter problem stops but after wandering around the map for a bit or in battle it would randomly cause the A button to start doing this to if anyone else experience this pls let me know also this didn't start to occur after 30+ hours into game and in the last region of the game

Is the carryover of 3 demons on switch worth it? Can it go cross-platform? Or is there an advantage? I am contemplating whether to get the switch version of vengeance since I got the original version vs Steam version
