Agreed! I follow only a couple trash pickers and have not followed others because they’ve been disrespectful. Paper and Moose is my favorite and I’ve never heard her utter a single disrespectful word! She’s just so sweet and genuinely excited about and appreciative for the things she finds. ❤️
I’m gasped when you said someone called you disrespectful 😱. That is the stand out characteristic I’ve noticed about you and these particular bags from this old house - your total respect for the people that these items belonged to! Especially in relation to clothes that are obviously age stained and to how you have never shown the names of the original owners! It’s one of the reasons I like you Renee! And I’m not alone - we all love your channel - you’re a breath of fresh air 💙. I also felt a little sad seeing the unfinished sewing project - but wow - this family lived full lives! x
@@PaperandMoose If you have any sewing/crafter friends Renee, pass along that ' bag o scraps ' of material. They might be able to use it to make some masks. I gave a bag of sewing material pieces from a storage unit to someone at work who was sewing masks.
I’m reading the comments below about someone calling you disrespectful.. it’s you who are bringing these “ throw aways ” back to life. No disrespect in that. I’m sure the lady would be smiling to have her beautiful purses, clothes, etc brought back to life. If I knew someone who would respect my things like you, I would totally want to give everything to you!

In the UK we have composting bins for food waste and bread, crisp, carrier bags etc are perfect to put that in and they can't be recycled here so they are saved from the landfill too.😎

People amaze me in how fast they are to critique someone who OBVIOUSLY cares about keeping things from going to the landfills whenever possible. Whom ever complained must have never watched a previous video because it’s been kind of a “running” giggle when you come across several bags within the large bag. I enjoy the giggle and I giggle with you as I am sure 99% of your followers do too. You have ALWAYS put the homeowner first when you are uncovering their treasures. Giggles at a persons curbside trash and people get bent over it? Nowadays there is literally nothing that someone won’t get offended at it seems. I had a friend that cleaned out houses ,one job was of a house where the owner had gone into an assisted living home. LOTS of stuff in the house. One thing they found was this big filing cabinet filled with old plastic bread bags all neatly folded and put in Manila folders ! They get the house done and my friend go to see the old woman and get her to sign some papers. My friend said she seemed ok enough but when she was leaving she looked over and there on the table were 3 neatly folded bread bags! 😃
Get a grip, people! They’re just plastic bags. I save them to clean litter boxes or whenever I need a bag For something. I also donate them to Habitat and they reuse them.

Disrespectful? Not even a little! I have bags of bags...I used to use them for kitty litter but no longer have cats, now I just use them as needed. And coffee cans and jars! I can share things with others and not worry about getting the containers back! Recycling at it's finest! You are just one of the cutest recyclers ever! I wish I could go with you on a run, I think I embarrass my husband when I want to dig something out of the trash!

Had to stop in the middle of the video again to comment. In my humble opinion I have never seen any disrespect shown by you with anything in those bags. I look at it another way-if I was the dead one whose bags you had, I would feel honored. Family ( maybe, maybe not) has thrown them away and you like a little angel, have picked them up and deemed them worthy. You say such sweet things about everything. I know there are some really sensitive people in this world and there’s nothing wrong with that and I think you just cleared it up anyway. Some people don't understand that you can be amused by something without it being disrespectful. Your channel is overall so very wholesome, and so much of what you say about the people who lived in that house actually pays respect to them - people who you don't even know! I appreciate that about you.
One of the primary reasons I love your videos is because you are so respectful, and especially because you are so interested in these folks who must have had amazing lives. When you go through the items that have been discarded, it’s obvious that you are thinking of the people that these things belonged to and recognize that these were real people with real lives. I imagine that the gentleman just couldn’t bring himself to dispose of his late wife’s possessions. It’s wonderful that you save these treasures, and that what you sell will probably go to someone who will appreciate these items.

And so many of of havent been able to go to yard sales or swap meets etc. So we are living vicariously through you. I'm always amazed at what you can find in the trash. There's nothing disrespectful about retrieving useful items from the trash, putting them to good use instead of having them wind up in a landfill.

I save and reuse plastic store bags. I use them as trash can liners for my small trash cans and have several tucked away in every room with a small can. You are never disrespectful, Renee. Shake 'em off.

In the late 60's, early 70's RIT dye made a leather dye for shoes and purses....I think we all tried it at least once to make a matching pair of shoes and purse. That turquoise purse is one of those, I am pretty sure.

I think you have been very respectful of this family. Saving bags and scraps of things was a sign of their generation having lived through the depression. My parents were the same. If you get a little chuckle out of the plastic bags who cares. I'm sure their own children laughed at it.

@paperandmoose, when I was younger... in dance, I’m 41 now... our dance costumes came in pieces... with instructions on which pieces to sew where... my Grandma being the AMAZING seamstress she was would gather about 40 girls at a time and sew their costumes... AHHH those were the days! 💚

I find it funny that these "garbage" videos are almost the highlight of my day. Also, you seemed to giggle at the bags of bags, but not disrespectfully. We all have idiosyncrasies and we should be able to laugh at them. I complain. I am a world class complainer. I have to laugh at it because as much as I would love to stop, I am hard wired. I agree about the bags. But not the "hard wired". It becomes a habit we get used to and accept. It can be changed. Insted of complaining I think of something to be thankful for. It's developing a new way through practice!

Love these trash/treasure bags. Pooper bags are a chuckle, use them all the time. Some people have no sense of humor. Please show the comforter after you clean it. You have given me hours of fun treasure hunting from my rocking chair with my little pooper at my side. Lol.🤗. 👍

@@PaperandMoose Funny that you bring up Guinea pigs Renee. I was watching a scrapper video I saw online and this Guy (Coonts was name in video I think ) "picked " a live Guinea pig while scrapping. The neighbor saw him scrapping a cage and asked if wanted another cage with the Guinea pig still in it. He took it home to his Kids-- the kids loved it.
I giggle too when you find them - my mom is a bag saver as well and trust me, my giggling has nothing to do with disrespect. More like, yup, can relate to that find : )

You are never disrespectful, you are saving their treasures from the trash. Some of those bags were lovely - the purple suede one was to die for. Those huge spools of thread go onto knitting machines. Loved the comforter, hope you manage to clean it and dry it in the sun (hanging things to dry in the sun makes them smell fresher). The bag of scraps could be sold as bags of scraps for crafting. Taco knows someone who uses artificial flowers. I am waiting to see if any costume jewellery appears and of course, the other purple boot.
This is one of my favorite videos with all the boho purses!! Most are just like new!! As far as you being disrespectful, NEVER!! You are one of the most thoughtful, sweetest person on RU-vid! You just did not realize how many people the ages of the home owners, saved most everything. Even the well-to-do women made their own clothes then. My aunt was super rich and took classes for tailoring clothing and she made some beautiful clothes for herself!! Thanks Again for bringing back fond memories for me, this time with the purses from the 60s!!

Those wranglers are from the 70's. Look at the size of the belt loops. We wore wide belts during that time. The purses are all from the 60's and 70's. It's been fun to see all of our old fashion trends come out of those bags. The boots and shoes from the previous videos with the "clunky" heels are also from the late 60's early 70's. I can't wait till you get to the belts!!!
