Incredible story. Thats how I learned how to type in High School in 1998. The year after that they haved all switched to Computers and I used tease my juniors about not having that experience.
That's too bad. Minnesota is losing so much history. The furniture place too. I know these follks get older and retire. You and the store will be missed!
Mark fixed my first craigslist $20 typewriter 6 years ago. His kindness, patience and sage advice bloomed my own passion for these machines. I’ve found an identity in them along with the most incredible people. I have a ‘typewriter alliance’ duty to share that one other shop in town still fixes machines- Spectrum Business Systems in Saint Paul. Big hugs, Mark, and thank you for the gift- of love. My collection is peaked at 250, but looks like I’ll be fixing them myself. Lots to learn! Great story which gives the exact snapshot of where we are right now. Congratulations on a successful run almost 50 years. Incredible legacy, I appreciate your talent and admire the fortitude to survive those years of lean times.
