The reason for the mistranslation I think is because the definition of theocracy is a nation run by a priest or God and a holy kingdom is a religious kingdom so in writing both faction names mean the samething.
To clarify when Hilma says "that on me". All the eight fingers including hilma where given to the cockroach king to be used as food for his family. This was the torture they endured called the black baptism. It broke their spirits and made most of them unable to eat solid food, as thousands of cockroached burrowed into their internal organs and the sensation remains with them
Translation Error : Everytime this Season the ''Theocracy'' was mentionned, it's actually supposed to be referencing the ''Roble Holy Kingdom", huge translation error present in 3 episodes so far. Important for the plot & story. For English subtitles, Theocracy = Holy Kingdom.
Due note that there is a mistranslation. Any time they say “Theocracy”, it should actually be “Holy Kingdom”. The Theocracy and the Holy Kingdom are two separate nations in the Overlord world. I can’t believe such a mistranslation managed to get by. The movie that will come out covers the Holy Kingdom which takes place after last episode and before this episode. Personally I’m fine with them skipping the Holy Kingdom arc for now since this episode will be the last mention of it. Just wish they actually translated it properly.
also it's a mistranslation that Ainz is helping the theocracy, he's helping the holy kingdom, they are 2 different countries, the slane theocracy is the doods that are racists and think humans >>> everything else while the holy kingdom is a religious country that has a holy queen, and they don't think less about any other species aside from the unholy beings (like demons and undead) but they changed their views of the undead because of Ainz.
@@yisus4681 I am pretty sure the Holy Kingdom had a wall. Once the wall got breached they had a large issue with Beast men. I mean the issue is not that big now due to the intervention of Ainz, but right now in the anime they pretty much and one. The draconic kingdom also has an issue with them. Where they Beast men are doing what they did on the Holy Kingdom. Not sure if a certain demon is involved in this one too
@@ODDnanref yeah the holy kingdom had a wall because they were wary of beast men, but they didn't have an enourmous issue with them, the ones with a huge beastmen issues are the dragonic kingdom. Well not until Jaldabaoth showed up and basically made all the beastmen unite and destroyed the wall.

There's an understadable major translation error this season. Especially in this episode. For context, this arc - The Fallen Kingdom arc - happened after the events of the upcoming movie - The Holy Kingdom arc. The Roble Holy Kingdom and the Slane Theocracy are two different nation. After the events of the movie, the Holy Kingdom became an allied nation to the Sorceror Kingdom while the Theocracy, due to it's human supremacy beliefs, is a hostile nation. Whoever did the translation keeps confusing these two nations as one nation.
They skipped so many things from the LN. Philip was the one behind this, no strings being pulled. He legitimately thought this was a good power move. The 2 barons he met with were against the plan to attack the transport because they're not as stupid as Philip and realized it would come back to them. When Zanac and Renner got the news about the attack Renner was shocked at the stupidity of Philip since it went so far outside of the plan. Zanac was horrified by what that attack would mean for their relationship with Ainz but at the same time he got to see his sister shocked for the first time. The faceless is from the Holy kingdom arc that is beinh handled in the movie.
I honestly don't get how Crunchyroll messed up the translation this badly. This whole season has been full of mistranslations. The person in charge of the subs obviously hasn't read the LN. I thought they were supposed to read the source material to accurately translate but I guess I was wrong. I mean, there's a movie coming out about The Holy Kingdom! Do they not even know about that?!
Aren't Crunchyroll the same people responsible for purposely fucking up localizations to push their agenda? I don't know how people can expect any quality or professionalism from them anymore.
You over estimate Crunchyroll. Even the games that go through Crunchyroll games just get tossed into Google translate. We had that incident 2 episodes ago that they uploaded the episode with the wrong subtitles. Crunchyroll is a bit of a mess that makes frequent mistakes due to their low effort.
They also called Warrior King "Strongest swordman", when he never even use a sword. In raws it was "Strongest Gladiator" (最強の剣闘士). So yeah. What funny is translation on other languages are not mess ups on Holy Kingdom and Gladiator parts. I know that translator of Crunchroll on my native language is the same that translate LN officially. So we got all names/moves/ and so on same as in LN
Those 2 Nobles weren't manipulating Phillip, they just told him what they heard about the Sorcerer Kingdom. And no, this isn't a spoiler, it's just how the anime handled it.
Since people already brought up the translation error, I guess I'll give my 2 cents about Phillip. I think he's both dumb and overly ambitious. He's "smart enough" to know that his family can't continue as they have been, but he constantly fails to see the bigger picture and how he plays into it all. And by the sounds of that conversation at the tavern, he also seems to be mismanaging his territory and fails to realistically address the issues that's keeping his territory from improving. Then instead of using his connection to Albedo to request assistance/resources from the Sorcerer Kingdom he decides to rob them instead for some alleged political gain, and ultimately underestimating the Sorcerer Kingdom in the process
Wasn't he manipulated according to the LN. It wasn't shown bec it didn't change anything. It's more of just a part of Phillip's backstory than the overarching plot.
I don't mind the odd mistranslation when it still makes sense in the context but it's incredibly painful to see translators continue to mess up the names of two distinct entities in the anime. Great reaction as usual!
It's so painful cuz now it's confusing everyone who doesn't know what's happened in the light novel. Crunchyroll really f**ked up cuz even the fan subs have gotten it all right but not there's!?!
As mentioned by the previous comments there was a translation error and Ainz was helping the holy kingdom not the theocracy. They will delve deeper on that in the movie coming out. They basically skipped 2 volumes of the light novel for them to keep the story within the re-estize kingdom nd wrap it up
The parallel between Ainz suggesting the leader of the faction should be responsible for his underling, and then the Re-Estize King taking exactly that burden seems to have gone over the heads of most.
Philip best boi also if you are a bit confused this episode just know they skipped 2 volumes because the last arc we watched was volume 11 for volume 12 and 13 going to be a movie because its best suited that way if it was in weekly format it would be rushed and alot of cgi. The art illustration already out for the movie will be next year when we all see it.
Another thing about Hilma Cygnaues, she was eaten alive from the inside out several times by the roach guardian, ever since she has a purely liquid diet as any solid food reminds her of the roaches crawling down her throat, resulting in her emaciated appearance,

Yeah theocracy was incorrectly translated when they say that they mean "Holy kingdom" so actually philip intervened a transport of goods that was going to the Roble Holy kingdom

Was about to post a comment about the Holy Kingdom mistranslation but about a hundred other homies already got you. I don't know if they still read the comments for Overlord because of spoilers but if a hundred people are commenting here then there should be at least one on Patrion/Discord.

Anyone who's actually getting paid to do the translation should be able to tell the difference from Holy Kingdom and Slane Theocracy ffs... @@gantashiro978 I was being sarcastic. Because many times a fansub is from people who follow the show or the content which they wouldn't use the wrong term. I am pretty sure only people who are clueless can mistranslate because they heard a different term but still use theocracy because it's the only country that makes sense in the continuity of the anime. Yes, the Holy Kingdom and the Theocracy were pronounced differently but if you take into consideration, the person who translate the show can never heard of the term Holy Kingdom before while only watching the anime which can easily lead to a misunderstanding. Also, I am not defending it.

Rocklee read this since anime messed up big time : anime skipped vol 12 and 13 to make a movie about it, the first few minutes the prince is talking about jaldabaoth and that is about plot of that movie. And there was a translation error, they are talking about holy kingdom and not theoracy, these 2 countries are completely different.
I think there has been a mistranslation because when they are saying the Theocracy it should be the Holy Kingdom instead. That arc will be covered in the movie.

It isn’t Renner. Her plan was the one Nazarick was already following. The Kingdom was about to face a MASSIVE food shortage because Ainz killed off a huge portion of their work force. Ainz was sending food to the Holy Kingdom (NOT the Theocracy. They are two different countries, the translator apparently didn’t know that and effed up), and was also selling some of that food in the Kingdom. But he wasn’t underselling anyone; as Zanac was saying at the start, Ainz had agreed to pay tolls and import taxes, so his food cost more than the Kingdom’s food. But since they were going to have a massive shortfall in food, people were going to starve and nobles and people would be pissed at the plentiful food from Ainz being so expensive due to taxes, so Renner expected a number of nobles to go to the Sorcerer Kingdom to ask for aid, giving Ainz Cassus Belli for intervening with food aid, and eventually absorbing most of the kingdom as nobles defected to his side, ultimately resulting in a mostly bloodless conquest. This has ALL been thrown out the window at this point due to Phillip’s thoughtless move and Ainz’s careless words. The Kingdom is now doomed to be an example of the stick to contrast with the Empire’s carrot. Renner had zero clue anyone would be stupid enough to attack a Sorcerer Kingdom convoy. The anime cut it out, but when Zanac got word of the attack on the convoy, Renner was completely blindsided and made the first sound of genuine surprise Zanac had ever heard from her. Even though he was completely terrified at what the possible response would be from Ainz, he also couldn’t help but savor the moment he saw his sister truly surprised.
Whoever is doing the subs for Crunchyroll needs to get replaced cuz it's not the Slane Theocracy they were talking about this episode it's the Holy Kingdom who Ainz was aiding. None of this has anything to do with the Slane Theocracy there's no way in hell Ainz would be helping them so it's just an AWFUL translation error

If I remember correctly, Phillip is the third son and didn't get an education due to that and his family being one of the poorer nobles (he was considered a spare). Both of his brothers no longer took a dirt nap thanks to the "goats". If you read the light novel and his inner thoughts you will know, he is that dumb.
I’m not spoiling anything but the reason renner knows what her brother and everyone is thinking is because she’s a genius, it’s actually on the character sheet murayama gives along with the novels that renner has an actual class called “genius” that makes her ability to compartmentalize and use information wayyyyyy better than even normal geniuses. She’s the only human we’ve seen with this unique class at 5 levels
UPDATE: It looks like Crunchyroll received so many complaints about their translation error that they went back and fixed it so now the subs say "Holy Kingdom" instead of Theocracy anymore. Lol it was such a bad error that they had to go back and fix it.
Skipping the earlier volumes lead to some lack of insights revealing that the officials of the kingdom is falling behind in leadership. It’s unfortunate but if you read the end why the Sorcerer kingdom has so many stamps supporting their punitive letter, you will notice many countries that have chosen Nazarick side. If you read the earlier volumes you will have more insight about what is going on in the world. Also the content of the letter is not revealed causing some doubt on the king decision but the king was trying to prevent another war against the Sorcerer’s kingdom. Zanach has proven himself during the kingdom discord after the war. He was entrusted and a capable prince.
What Renner has plan with Phillip is to use him to make a civil war against the kingdom so that they can conquer the kingdom that way. First they made a faction which Phillip will be the head of the faction then create a civil war using that faction then the faction will side with Sorcerer Kingdom and kill all the nobles in that faction. That way they can make a move using that faction but Phillip made a dumb move that causes or will cause a war against the Kingdom and Sorcerer.
A wrench in the war plans? Uhm.. i feel i should remind you that a "Convoy" flying Nazarick/Sorc kingdom colours was attacked AND(the novel also describes how said flags was HUGELY disrespected) Nothing can stop this flood... As far as Philip goes(according to the novel) Him being dissatisfied by "things going wrong" mainly him not being able to connect with Albedo in ways he hoped(The dumb rat) seemingly not being able to gather the pull from this "new faction" that Hilma was trying to guide him to set up. Aaaand obviously money.. Drinks and then throw 2 ACTUALLY random idiots(Not sent by anyone) trying to use him for gain, into the gears and well... They say idiots get along with idiots.. Also i am sure others have mentioned this in some shape or form but the only LEGITIMATE time the "Theocracy" should have been mentioned in this episode is during the counting of the seals. They actually agreed due to not daring to do shit AND being dissapointed with the myriad of problems/corruption spreading through the kingdom(As was mentioned in episode 3)
People might think Philip is dumb, but consider how dumb everyone at that Kingdom meeting were! They know that Ainz can wipe them all out with his magic, they have a document that's signed by multiple kingdoms and factions siding with the Sorcerer kingdom; everyone in that room should have been going "We need to offer ourselves to be a vassal state, and Philip's head immediately; and if that doesn't work straight up surrender." As far as Nazarick goes it's funny how everyone was operating on the assumption that the plan was to incite a civil war and have the civilians flee into the Sorcerer Kingdom for protection, but Ainz inadvertently made everything think that the actual for reals plan was to make an example out of The Kingdom that befriended then betrayed the Sorcerer Kingdom.
philips 'plan' was described quite poorly, I think. I don't recall his aim, precisely, but I did not recognize it in the anime's presentation of his plan.
i've seen alot of kings in differents anime most ofthem were either idiots, narcissists, drunk with power or Idiotic narcissists drunk with power but this guy? Respect
Philip action is actually ruin Renner plot for civil war within the kingdom because what philip do is causing war between kingdom and sorcerer kingdom not a civil war within the kingdom like renner plotting to be, and for Zanac he is actually againts the idea of confronting sorcerer kingdom as you can see in the meeting Zanac suggest to call it off by give philip head to ainz. The conclusion is philip action causing no merit for both Renner and Zanac. Philip just that foolish guy you often see in the movie that somehow dodge a bullet while having no idea he is been shot.
Please note that the every time they mentioned the theocracy in this episode it was actually the holy kingdom. The theocracy hates Ainz and his people whilst the holy kingdom due to various reasons mentioned in this episodes somewhat love Ainz... it was such a bad mistranslation. can't go in more details cuz that would be spoiler territory. love the reactions guys keep it up
Nazarick wanted to instigate a rebellion. Have the citizens overthrow their government. While the chaos brews and destroy and the kingdom suffers the biggest famine in their history, the Sorcerer kingdom would have their doors open. Ready to accept and host those poor refugees. Spoilers for other stuff Also, no one instigated those two. Those two were also idiots who wanted to have Philip do something stupid, fail, and betray him. Which would have worked if Philip was not such an overconfident idiot and somehow confused the merchant in charge (who worked for 8 Fingers who were puppeteers behind "supporting" Philip). The merchant thought it was part of a plan. Allows Phillip to get away with all the good and then shit hits the fan. The other nobles expect him to fail are panicking because they don't understand what happened. The merchant escorting the aid is confused but will not question his bosses. Albedo was confused what happened. The 8 Fingers are shitting their pants because they remember their first experience when they were captured and think "If that was the greetings we got, what does punishment look like?". The kingdom nobles were also confused and in fact believed Phillip was charmed into doing this dumb thing. The only one thinking "all according to plan" is the dumb overconfident Phillip.
Honestly, I can sort of understand the translation error if whoever did the translations has never read the LN. Up until this point, the Holy Kingdom was never mentioned in the anime. But in the LN, it's been long since established. Like I think since the equivalent of season 1 or 2.

I just didn't expect how bad it was gonna go at the time. the two nobles were actually not that bad, just that they underestimated ainz too much.
I think you guys are just over thinking things. Just like every other character around Ainz lolol. I dont think anyone told the 2 barons to tell Philip about the food being exported into the Holy Kingdom. If you rewatch the bar scene, the reason he is drinking is because he was trying to get his farmers to make more crops so he can sell them at a higher price. It sounds like word is getting around about cheaper food begining to fill the store rooms and it is known to come from Ainz. Makes sense since the Sorcerer Kingdom is trying the whole "friendly relations" thing rather than out right violence so It would be pointless to hide the import of food. I think someone said that the transport carrying the food had the Sorcerer Kingdoms Flag too. So that is another reason they aren't trying to hide what they are doing. I think Ainz was correct this time. Philip acted on his own volition.

Although i am skeptical of Renner doing this, due to both Albedo and Demiurge being blind sided by this, and how Renner seems like she could her disturbing self around Albedo so she may have taken a liking to them so moving on her own/treachery doesn't seem likely to me. but then again, that could be me over thinking it too lololol. I guess we just gotta wait and see how this all plays out!
Only thing with Renner being behind the attack on the caravans is that would require her to be working behind Nazarick's back somewhat. There's no reason for her to do that without giving them a heads-up first, so I think it's more likely that it was the brother, if there was anybody. I do think that the most likely scenario is just that the nobles were chatting and venting about a bad situation and it was genuinely just Phillip being THAT stupid. For a show with a lot of political plotting, there is a lot of coincidence (not saying that's a bad thing).
I will assure you philip was just that stupid and he literaly did nothing to cover his tracks even announced to the caravan exactly who was attacking them and letting them leave
It should be "Holy Kingdom" not "Theocracy" The movie that will come will cover the Jaldaboath attacking "Holy Kingdom" and Ainz helping them thus the "Sorcerer Kingdom" is sending "food/aids" to "Holy Kingdom" but got attacked in the Kingdom(Princess Reinner) territory by this stupid noble "Philip".
