When I was an aimless high-schooler listening to progressive metal, I happened to hear this song (on the radio perhaps in the Twin Cities) - now this is like quarter century ago - and I picked up The Angel In the House by the Story and have been captivated by this song, the harmonies, the lyrics, ever since (also go listen to the track The Gilded Cage). Fast forward to a few weeks ago, I'm on my way to an AA meeting (living life on life's terms) and Live From Here is on the radio because it feeds my soul and this song starts to play and I was stunned, I started to cry, I pulled over, I was in disbelief. I could NOT for the life of me believe that a song that is so beloved by me was being played and TODAY I find out it was Aoife O'Donovan singing it? Oh my god I'm so in love. We're so lucky. Thanks to Jonatha Brooke for writing it and Chris Thile and Aoife for singing it and reminding me why music is the most important thing in the world to me.
@@gooddaysahead1 You're absolutely right! I'm a huge fan of The Story - I just forgot this was one they did together. But of course it was. Love Jennifer Kimball's solo work too.
Oh my, how did I miss this when it first came online? Thank you RU-vid algorithm for bringing me this utter gem. Gorgeous song to begin but the arrangement and presentation is stunning. I'm always amazed at the amount of work Aoife, Chris Thile and the entire cast of Live From Here put into a performance. How many times was this remarkable work presented before a live audience?
Chris's backing vocals in the last portion of the song remind me of James Taylor. BTW, Aoife needs a stage name - one that doesn't autocorrect to "a life".
Here's a live version of the Jonatha Brooke and Jennifer Kimball original : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1Oyaa1hIAgs.html The entire "Angel in the House" album is a gem.
I really loved The Story . This is a good cover . While the original artists was better but their solo carreers never recaptured the harminic tonal quality . Separately they are still very talented song writers but the performance is very lacking.
