Harri you are 100% right when you said that if Elvis was still with Priscilla at the time of his death, his life might have been saved. Certainly she would have pressured him to take a break or get a health check when his physical body was deteriorating. Love your great comments.
All those who knew Elvis very well, do insist that the only woman who TRULY loved Elvis was Linda Thompson and if she had been around those final months and weeks, Elvis would have been saved. I´m not saying that there was no love between Elvis and Priscilla but I´ve always felt that Priscilla was too young when she met Elvis and as years went by so did her love for him. Linda met Elvis when he was not in his best shape, he was already ill and had it not been for Elvis´s lack of commitment, Linda would have remained with him no matter what. Again, those who knew both of them always felt that Linda really loved Elvis as a man he was and not as the celebrity. Did Elvis love Linda as much? I don´t know. Elvis left this world was too soon. May God bless his beautiful soul.
Elvis is immortal. Discovering Elvis is an amazing journey. He is timeless. look up to his 70'a live shows they are masterpiece, his stage presence and charisma are unbelievable.
Elvis was just the King; although he said the real king was God. He had four genres of music *rock, GOSPEL, country and rockabilly* . In four Hall of Fames. If you've never heard him sing gospel you are missing a lot. I'm 64 and his start in music was before I was born.
After his February separation from his wife, Priscilla, Elvis recorded "Always on My Mind" on March 29, 1972. The song was released as the 'B-side' of the "Separate Ways" single, which was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for sales in excess of one million units. It was listed as a double A-side single.
JUST AS I SAID, ELVIS MADE THE SONG FAMOUS 10 YEARS BEFORE WILLIE NELSON COME OUT WITH IT, WILLIE DIDN'T MAKE IT FAMOUS, THE SONG MADE WILLIE FAMOUS, HE STILL COULDN'T DO IT AS GOOD AS ELVIS DID!
This is one of many songs Elvis can expose his voice ( the greatest vocal cords that God had ever created! ) in my opinion!! No other performing star past and present will ever come close to this man’s voice and stage performance!!!
I loved seeing him laugh and smile and having fun ✨ that video of him in the car looking so lonely and sad breaks my heart. He was very lonely, you can be very very lonely even if people are around you…that’s me. I Love You Elvis, You Sweet Sweet Man, R. I. P.
This was a cover. It's a country song that's been around a long time. Elvis could take any song and put so much emotion into it that you can't help believing it's personal.
Great reaction !!! When elvis recorded this song he brought Priscilla the record ! So you are right about being very sad !!! He really loved her !!! Rip elvis 😢🙏💔
I was SO blessed - got to see Elvis when I was a little girl (8ish) My mom was so 'inclusive' with the music we had ! So Iconic - SO powerful !! Thank you !!
@@knyght67 Hate me more Elvis was a personal friend i met him when i was 17 yrs old. love to you from Memphis. My family and friends said many times i need to write a book about it lol.. to old for that now lol
He sang this song to say sorry to her as they broke up because Priscilla was lonely as he was always away working and when he was home he always had the memphis mafia who were family ,school friends and Army buddies around him so they never had much time together !
Elvis did tell Pircilla he recorded that song for her, he never was the same after his divorce, theres also a recording where his performing in Las Vegas, after his divorce, Pircilla is in the audience, and he sings the Song It's Midnight, and as his singing the song he says Listen Cilla as he sings Its midnight, a very sad song ! The King Elvis ! The Greatest Of All Time !
HE SURE HE DID MISS HIS FAMILY BUT, ELVIS WAS NEVER THE SAME AFTER HIS MOTHER DIED! ELVIS DIVORCED CILLA, SHE DID NOT DIVORCE HIM AND, HE DID NOT WANT HER BACK AS A WIFE! HE DID LOVE HER BUT, HE WAS NOT IN LOVE WITH HER! SHE WAS THE MOTHER OF HIS ONLY CHILD.
@@naomiwarner7117 Cilla left Elvis , he did not want the Divorce, He filed for Divorce Because Cilla Did not want Her New Residence to be known, She could not Handle his womanizing and the Music Life anymore, He Loved Cilla, But with Elvis His Music Career came first ! I have been an Elvis fan since I was a kid I grew up with Elvis as a Devoted Fan , since the sixties, I know I followed his life and Career always !
oh yeah they did a movie titled “Elvis and Me” about his relationship with Priscilla and the wedding ring set the actress wore was identical to my grandmother’s who i happened to be watching the movie with and we were tickled to death that they had the same rings and henceforth my grandmother’s rings were referred to as “the Priscilla Presley Rings” and my grandmother left them to me when she died🥰 god bless her soul and Elvis’s too🙏😇
Willie Nelson won a Grammy for this song, why Elvis never got a Grammy for his version of the song is beyond me. As Elvis kills Willie Nelson's version in my humble opinion. But then again the Grammys are anti Elvis, only won three Grammys in his lifetime and all for Gospel. Not one Grammy for Rock 'N' Roll if that's not anti Elvis what is!!!
Still pisses me off to this day He was so high above everybody else he's still up there nobody's ever gonna catch him He was so good that the industry was jealous and didn't give him all the rewards he should have got
It was not written by Willie Nelson. Mark James (Suspicious Minds) co-wrote it. Nelson got a Grammy for his performance of the song... Elvis only got 3 Grammies, but only for his Gospel songs. Go figure!!
I watched an interview of Priscilla. She said that one night at Elvis gave her a copy of the song at his father’s house. She doesn’t speak much about those days. A lot of phone calls, confusion, and emotions between the two. I cry every time I hear this song.
He loved Priscilla til the day he died. Never got over the divorce. If you look into eyes, you can see the sadness. We love and miss you Elvis. You could sing anything.
Many people they think this was dedicated to Priscilla but wasn't. I saw a video of an Elvis concert on youtube where Priscilla was in audience and Elvis talked about it, saying it had nothing to do with her. He asked her from the stage if it was true and Priscilla replied that the song had nothing to do with her. Elvis simply said that it was a song he liked, nothing more.
@@GoldTop57 The key word here is could have and not for sure.We do not know. But we know Elvis said these songs were not about him.He said he chose songs for the emotion in them he could relay. If they were all about him, why does he break out in laughter after singing so many of them?
Harri, another great reaction. This was so poignant, with Elvis singing over a montage of film clips of him and Priscilla. And my God...she was stunning!
Even though it is speculated and I believe truth that he had many affairs during his marriage there has to be a reason that Priscilla has always loved him and keep his legacy alive outside of the money
willie nelson wrote this and his version (especially live) is also hauntingly beautiful. please give it a listen. newer subscriber here and love the channel :)
“Always On My Mind,” (made famous by Willie Nelson) a hit that won the Country Music Association’s 1982 Song of the Year and Single of the Year awards as well as the Grammy Awards for Best Male Country Vocal Performance, Best Country Song, and Song of the Year. It was written by Wayne Carson. Songwriter Wayne Carson explains how the beloved song came together : “I wrote those two verses of ‘Always On My Mind’ living in Springfield, Missouri, and I usually write from the melody. I’ll think of the melody or the chord structure or something … If the melody is singable, the words are not far away. It’s only a story, you know. In this case, ‘Always On My Mind’ happens to be one of those things that, universally, everybody on the planet has been there, you know. And it struck all at one time. Everybody touched base with that one. It was just magic that it was so simple and so right on the button." I like your reaction because it is authentic and original. Do you do suggestions for reactions? Could you please do a top #1 hit called " I Go Crazy" by Paul Davis!! Find the live version. Thank you!!
A clip of this video is in the movie "Elvis On Tour" and I believe that was released in 1972. He recorded the song in March of 1972. Priscilla left him in Feb of 1972. So it was all fresh. The divorce was final October of 1973
This Elvis version was the key song played at my Dad's service .. It was our way of acknowledging to him that although we loved him and often thought about him, we ( and particularly me ) probably didn't express it enough to him in words and actions when he was alive .. And we believe he felt the same way towards us .. He used to sing along to this multiple times in a row, emphasising various words .. I'm sure he was thinking about my mum when he did .. RIP Dad .. I love you dearly .. Wayne
I knew Wayne Carson, the primary writer of this song, very well. He was my dad’s best friend and he was around our house all the time. He had many other great songs and hits. I encourage everyone to look into his catalogue if you are into country or R&B. Even Ike and Tina Turner recorded his song Soul Deep, and another huge hit was The Letter done by the Boxtops and Joe Cocker. He has many others.
Your reaction is spot on. I always love when you add some good advice too. From what I have read, he begged her to come back to him many times, especially near the end. Heartbreaking.
Can never listen to this without crying, there’s another version of this on RU-vid with a different video attached and it anything it’s even more emotional
Maybe this one has something to do with Priscilla, but there is one he definitely dedicated to her but couldn't record it 'I will always love you' from Dolly Parton. Elvis sang it as they were leaving the courtroom after getting divorced, she said that was the most unusual divorce ever, he held her hand the entire session and sang this song beautifully. Elvis wanted to record it officially and Dolly was more than willing to accept, but the Colonel asked her for half or all the royalties, I don't remember well, and she had to refuse of course. Dolly said she cried that night because she saw the sadness in Elvis face, and also she would've liked to hear her own song with that wonderful voice.
I feel this song as it's like looking back with 20 20 vision and more mature, I feel I could of treated various people better looking back, and them me, but thats life right... Give us perspective to improve
Priscilla has recently said that Elvis GIFTED this song to her and that she would not give any details about that. So this song definitely was for her!
HE GAVE THAT RECORD TO HER BECAUSE, HE WANTED TO KNOW WHAT SHE THOUGHT ABOUT IT AFTER HE RECORDED IT, HE DIDN'T GIFT IT TO HER, SHE WANTS ELVIS FAN'S TO BELIEVE THAT BUT, WE KNOW BETTER AND, SHE NEEDS TO STOP LYING!
@@naomiwarner7117 indeed Priscilla's lies keep coming up more and more, she is the only person in the world who keeps the name after cheating on Elvis and divorcing him, just to grab money of his name. And now with that full blown on hate movie she made. Gold digger with a body full of plastic.
Love this song. Yes, its a very sad song of regret. I love The Pet Shop Boys' Xmas Number One with this back in the 80s. Also, Willie Nelson has a version too.
@@stacymoore9836 NO, WAYNE CARSON AND 2 OTHER GUY'S WROTE THE SONG! ELVIS COVERED IT AND MADE IT FAMOUS 10 YRS. BEFORE WILLIE NELSON COVERED IT, WILLIE'S DON'T HAVE THE EMOTION THAT ELVIS' DOES, IMO.
I love your reactions you seem like a really good guy you put a lot of passion and thought into the things you’re saying your reactions are the reactions I look for. I am now a subscriber
Wayne Carson, Johnny Christopher and Mark James wrote this song in 1970. It was first recorded by BJ Thomas in 1970..Elvis covered the song in 1972 and it only reached number 16.. Willie Nelson covered the song in 1981 and the only version to reach number one on the charts winning him a grammy....To date it is the best version of this song.
Elvis loved and respected his mother so much that when his wife got pregnant and had his daughter, he just couldn't bring himself to make love to her. She was now a mother...
Love your reactions, especially to Elvis. To your point about music transporting one- Trisha Yearwood (married to Garth Brooks) has a tune ‘The Song Remembers When’. Beautiful!💖
I enjoyed your reaction and I have subbed. Beautiful song. Please react to Tomorrow Never Comes and Bridge over Troubled Water live in Las Vegas. Greetings from South Africa. 👍
love this song so much! Elvis💜 I heard a rumor he’s over on Martha’s Vineyard just a few minutes away from where I live but I haven’t gone looking for him yet😂 Willie Nelson does a beautiful version of this song😍 I believe many artists have coveted this but none come to my feeble mind right now. thanks for another great selection 🙏🦋🌈🌞💜
A little bit of History which is good there when you're hearing music and want to know what was behind the scenes of it and all that you sang the song some people said he wrote it I don't know but he sure recorded it cuz for his wife because he was going through a divorce at the time and he was pouring his heart out in the song to her but this song millions and millions and billions of people could relate to it for sure
Wayne Carson wrote this with Johnny Christopher and Mark James. Wayne had the main verses and chorus mostly done, and the other guys helped him with the bridge, and to tweak some other lyrics here and there. Wayne Carson wrote many great songs. Look him up
@Harri- Just wanted to let you know that the original artists of this great song was Willy Nelson. It is indeed a very sad song but Elvis did it better than anyone.
