I spent almost 15 years in the restaurant/bar industry, many of it in the Huntsville TX area, college town. And yes, the places that serve the alcohol can be held liable for issues that arise from instances that are alcohol related if negligence can be shown on behalf of the establishment that “over served an individual”. Very grey area in Texas, not something you want law enforcement involved in. Not completely sure on a solution for this particular situation, there could be many, but nothing that sticks out.

Something I noticed at both events, there were very few local people there that could just take an Uber or designated driver home. A large majority of the people came from several hours away, we came from the Houston area. Our family is going to sit this event out, we just aren’t big drinkers. Not going to be a kid friendly event in my opinion. Just my 2 cents….
