a Persian archaeologist explanation just for my BOY, read this completely please it is Iranian sengoku Jidai: Shah (sh like she) Soltan Hoseyn as the game said was an incompetent ruler because Safavid empire had same disease of Ottoman empire, kill princes or lock them into harems while allowing military (in this case Qezelbash, the menu that you ignored) and clergies to rule the empire freely, although the shah tried to restore order mainly in the military by using uniform and so on but it was too little too late, so in response of the situation Afghan Hutaki clan rebelled and in 1722 conquered Esfahan (I write right pronunciation) and their leader, Mahmud called himself the emperor while Ottoman and Russian empires invaded Iran at the same time, the crown prince Tahmasp fled to Mashhad and allied himself with duke of Khorasan and former royal guard commander Fathali khan Qajar (remember him) but they were unsuccessful until the new royal Marshal, Nader khan Afshar assassinated both duke and Qajar khan, at this time Mahmud assassinated and Ashraf became emperor & he executed the Shah Hoseyn, so Tahmasp declared himself emperor in Mashahd and his marshal, Nader khan re captured capital, Nader followed Hutaki princes, he defeated Russians and Ottoman. after that at first he replaced Tahmasp II with Abbas III and then gathered peers in Azarbaijan and by their blessing he proclaimed Nader shah I of Afsharid dynasty, in response many lords which declared themselves independent in 1722 declared again but they crushed by Nader shah, he invaded today UAE, Uzbekistan, Georgia and Oman but his greatest act was to defeat Mughal emperor, occupy Delhi and completely loot Indian treasury, after among the gems was Kooh Noor (you know the diamond on the crown of queen mother of UK) that is why he known as Nader the conquer, he asked for an Indian princess as well, as the tradition man should call his father, but Nader's father was shoe maker so Nader said I am Nader son of Sword son of Sword that is why Iranians call him THE son of sword, he was extremely cruel and anti clergy as well, he forces clergies into slavery (that Iranians approve of course) and blinded his sons, at last he made a column from heads of Quchani people so he assassinated by his commanders after that more that 80 rulers called themselves shah or independent, but four were the greater ones, Ebrahim shah Afshar in Mashahd (Nader's brother) and his clan, Karim khan Zand the regent to two Safavid shahs and Mohammad Hasan khan Qajar the son of Fathali khan that Nader assassinated (he assassinated so many men) Qajar allied with most of other lords Afghan or Bakhtiari but they all defeated on the hands of Karim khan Zand, Qajar executed by his own father in law and his elder son, Aqa Mohammad the eunuch (on the hands of Ebrahim shah) and his sister became wife of Karim khan's brother, then Karim khan killed Safavid shah but did not declared himself shah, a bad version of Mikolas Horty I would say. mean while HoseynQoli khan Qajar, son of former Qajar khan declared himself as Jahansuz (burner/destroyer of world) shah Qajar but killed by Karim khan as well, when Karim khan died, a turmoil happened in Zand court in Shiraz which is a game of thrones on it's own, Aqa (means Sire) Mohammad khan Qajar the eunuch fled to north and in 1779 declared himself as Shah/Emperor of Iran and so with the help of Turkmens (Qajars originally are Turkmen) and Kords (you say Kurd) made his huge horde, the last khan of Zand betrayed by his own chancellor (Zand khan made so many mistakes) lords abandoned him, the closed Shiraz doors and Aqa Mohammad was victorious, the Qajar shah destroyed Mashhad court (Afsharids, Khorasan in EU4 timeline) and unified Iran which remained as so until now, he later in 1797 assassinated as well by a lord bribed by Russian empire. since he was a eunuch his successor was Baba khan (means lord daddy) the son of Jahansuz shah (world burner) which by the prophecy was victorious vs Nader shah II in 1801 and so Iranian Sengoku Jidai was over (I just said main line of events)

Crossing the ottoman border and immediately having no supply is exactly what happened in every single Ottoman-Persian war. Alex was playing very historical.

as an Iranian I can just tell you that Safavids with all their mistakes where this countries peak after Islam came to country, yes the country that used to be a great empire turned to dust after Arab and Mongol invasions

7:21 this guy was one of the worst shahs of persian history he was a drunk guy who use to spent his time in the harram and he use to do some unacceptable things at the time for some time he wanted to be religious and let me tell you it didn't really work sooo he became more depressed and he started to drink even more and at the end it cused the hole nation to fail and afgan rebels took the control of Eastern iran and ottomans took control of the western iran until nadir şah came and ..... let me say it wasn't pretty

It's called Va-la-hia. Nice of you picking one of the work in progress focus tree nations instead of going for a complete one, gj. For a channel built around hoi4 is absolutely mind boggling how after years of playing you still don't use shortcuts and have lacks in your general understanding of the game

This is my favorite mod to play. Fair warning it gets a little janky in the late game.

I just want to congratulate the modder for researching history well, before making it. Safavids are Turkic origined empire which is mentioned in this mod. And till the end of empire (1736) (which replaced by another Turkic ( Azerbaijani empire of Afsharid Empire by Nadir Shah for Afshar tribe which is Azerbaijani speaking tribe) they preserved their Turkic ( Azerbaijani) nationality.
