This game will never be good. Its so broken, townies suck and are so dumb, half the packs are so broken. I'm so sick of new expansion packs and new content when most of them are so broken and unplayable.
It really makes me sad to think how downhill the sims has gone. I also feel bad for other fans of the sims that don’t have the kind of computer that can handle games like paralives. It just is sad knowing that it could have been incredible, but it’s not.
Inzoi has very high demands, but paralives is supposedly gonna be compatible with alot of older gen pc's. They are really trying to work on the optimization of the foundation within the game and trying to avoid high poly counts etc. So to avoid it being difficult to run!
sims 4’s whole point is that it is a light weight game originally built for online gameplay so it runs fine on most pcs. the limitations of sims 4 like no open world bad ai and no color wheel comes from that. sims 4 is a nice game and it would have been dumb if ea made a sims 5 when sims 4 works so well for what it is
@@togoxoThe problem is that it doesn't work well as anything at all. The game is a broken, buggy mess. If it worked well as an optimized game, then that would be fine.
@@togoxoSims 4 works well for what it is? Really? Even basic commands get canceled out because of the many bad coding in the game. the AI is ridiculous, just take a look at infants. The game is not good and that's that.
Accidentally got here early. If EA really wants to keep building on the sims 4, they need to do a comprehensive update and bug fixes. Just adding more and more packs when the game is fundamentally broken cannot carry the franchise for much longer. I am excited for the MySims remaster though
EA doesn't care about a few players leaving the Sims world. Most will continue to buy the new packs. As a FIFA player, I have seen nothing different in the last 10 years. EA is a money machine and investors continue to expect the usual income. Sims 5 is not in EA's interest at the moment
There is no way they can continue with The Sims 4 for much longer. By now, this game is comparable to a 20-year-old car. For everything they fix, they do more damage. The code is nearing breaking point with every new update and every new DLC. They need to let go, if they want to continue to milk the franchise. Sometimes, you have to invest, no matter what. Sometimes, you have to renew, at least to a degree.
i want more realistic sims, behaviours, gameplay, interesting content, creating worlds.. not a separate game just for mobiles and online, decorating and a pink door wtf
Let’s be real. It WAS supposed to be Sims 5, but people were dragging it so hard that EA and Maxis decided to change the narrative to save their asses.
Agreed, I just don't know how they have sat there doing nothing for so long when other competitors are popping up in the market? I feel so upset as I love the sims but EA are slowly killing the game through their laziness. I will be looking to play para lives and inzoi and that's after being a player of the sims since sims 1 but the bugs and glitches are making gameplay enjoyment really challenging!
There is no Maxis any longer, not the way it was in the days of Sims 1 to Sims 3. They're fully part of EA, have been stripped down to the bones, and can't really work for themselves any longer. Maxis is in-name-only now, not a studio any longer.
We don’t even need an open world but at LEAST make it semi-open world?? I’m just sick of having loading screens everywhere, even to go to the neighbour’s house. It’s exhausting.
Most of the player base would move on to The Sims 5, because it would, in theory, be a better game than The Sims 4, but the fact that they wont even try is honestly embarrassing 💀The whole "we don't want to make players lose progress" is a bad excuse imo.
I wished they would've been at least a LITTLE transparent by saying something like "we know how much time and money you have spent on The Sims 4" or something along the lines of that. They can at least acknowledge their expensive game that's over $1,200 and the 80 DLC for it. Because alot of people who bought every single pack will find it hard to start all over again because of the amount of dollars that came out of their pockets for this game. But aside from that, ALOT of people actually want to move onto a new game but this is the hill they choose to die on... literally💀
Personally I like making characters and playing as them which I why I play a lot of customisable rpgs, however there aren't a lot of life simulation games like the sims out there. If the sims had any sort of competition this franchise would have been dead a long time ago
if they had added color wheels back then, there would be no swatch updates for base game now. They would have come up with actually something instead 8,D
Exactly! I always say that listening to dedicated simmers get so excited about stuff like new swatches reminds me of listening to someone in an abusive relationship get so excited about their partner doing the dishes once, or not yelling at them for making a mistake... they don't even realize or understand that that's listerally what everyone else has in their relationship, only also way more. Just like the tiny things simmers get excited about are things every other game already does, but way more. Tbh, I didn't used to be much of a gamer, so I didn't always really understand this either. But my husband is an avid gamer and he absolutely hates the Sims because of how EA runs it. Even if he wanted to play it, I think he probably wouldn't just on principle.
a few years ago, didn't EA say "if you don't buy the Sims 4, you won't get the Sims 5". Now they are saying "cos you spend all your time and money in the Sims 4 we aren't going to make the Sims 5". That is blackmail, pure and simple. Some other legal ramifications present themselves too
honesty project renee seems like spores galactic adventures where its a seperate game but basically the same game with extra parts added onto it allowing a different mechanic to function
I keep thinking the team behind The Sims is entirely made up of businessmen who've never played the game and are completely detached from what their customers demand...
The Sims2 & Sims 3 had far more gameplay than we have in Sims 4, it's is such a leap backwards and I just don't enjoy playing the Sims anymore. Build mode is great, but live mode just doesn't cut it compared to what we had in previous Sims games.
You know what I want in Sims 4? Sims I don't hate. The townies annoy me like crazy and even my own Sims don't feel the same like my TS3 Sims. Mostly because I don't understand them. They just do whatever they want but not what I tell them (autonomy is switched off btw) Anyway, you expressed my thoughts exactly. A new Sims game makes more sense than thousands of updates to a broken game...
I was so so upset... I was looking forward to a Sims 5 exactly because I'm not happy with Sims 4 so I had hopes they'd make a Sims 5 that was actually better than The Sims 3... to know they're not planning on making good Sims titles like the old ones anymore just makes me so sad T_T oh well maybe I'm just getting old HAHAHA
If EA honestly wants to keep The Sims 4 as a main title game they should consider what we have up until now "Legacy Sims 4" and focus on updating the core game to include the features Simmers desperately want, like... Open Worlds, Create a World, Colour wheels, Smarter Sim AI. If they can do this and Rebrand the Game as "The Sims" I think that's the best-case scenario for the path they've laid out for themselves.
Remember when people were unhappy about the underwhelming Sims 4 at release and said they'd wait until Sims 5, and a SimGuru said if people didn't buy Sims 4 there wouldn't BE a Sims 5? And now Sims 4 has been successful for a decade and.....there still won't be a Sims 5.
I find it funny their reasoning was "we don't want players to start over after a decade of gameplay" a decade YOU created and we WANT to start a new one finally. Give us the new game
It definitely was going to be Sims 5 but after seeing Paralives grow, Life By You , and THEN INZOI dropped they knew they could not compete with the market for sandbox simulation anymore so they changed directions. (I also think EA was behind Life By You failing) but thats for another day hehe 🤭
I really want to know who it is in EA that keeps pushing for online multiplayer, because that person (or those people if multiple) need to GO. It's getting embarrassing, they are very clearly not understanding what their target audience is.
Exactly! They tried to make the new Dragon Age game a live service multiplayer at first. It's wild. Single player audiences want to play single player games. Not sure how many failures they need to see before that sinks in, but you'd hope they'd learn from Skull & Bones, Suicide Squad, Anthem, etc.
I remember playing sims 3 and i fully designed every item with patterns and all. Making super original houses. I hope they will add it to the sims 4 too
The fundamental problem with new Sims sequels is that they always go back to complete basics. They don't build upon anything that has come previously. In fact in many ways we take several steps backwards. I shouldn't have to buys pets and seasons for every new game, it should be baseline as to what to expect. Unfortunately cooperate greed wins out every time.
I mean the power is in Maxis' hand to NOT do that. And I think they know they would have struggled send out a barebones Sims 5 that wasn't open world when InZoi and Paralives are both open world and set to deliver things like weather and cars as a basegame element. And, you know, they could just charge for the GAME. Yeah, you've pumped your numbers with free-to-play, it works, but the problem with free to play is you need enough whales buying everything to supplement the people who play for free and then never end up buying in. Sims cost money to make and maintain and what use to pay for that is BUYING THE GAME. Now that its free, they HAVE to sell the packs, the base game is just bait to sell packs which ultimately has made the packs more restrictive than before. They want you to feel like you've run out of things to do, so you'll buy something else.
my sims still choose to walk across entire 50x40 lots to take a dirty food/plates to the bathroom trash bin despite there being a perfectly good dumpster not even 4 steps away from where they were so like... they can add whatever they want onto it, but the game is still so abysmal and the sims coding is still genuinely helplessly stupid. until they tell me they overhauled the ai/sims behavior entirely, i'll never be able to play more than a few hours of sims a month before pulling my hair out and leaving to play another game lol.
Instead of adding all those swatches, they could've just as easily added a color wheel, and I think there's actually a mod that adds one, so it actually is doable.
I think EA were most worried about Life by You and that's why they dangled Sims 5 in front of us. Now that LbY is cancelled, EA have dropped the charade.
I wonder how live service is going to work when everyone has their own combination of mods and packs. Like how am I supposed to see my friend playing in her island when I don't own island living?
oh no... That is probably why they want to do it, so if you want to play with your friend, you have to have the same packs. It will give you more incentive to get the pack your friend has.
All of the dev previews they've shared don't really make sense for a spinoff game. Why would they be building on a new engine and reanimating everything from scratch if its a spinoff..? I personally think it was a recent decision to reclassify it as a spinoff, and it WAS originally intended as an exploration of the Sims 5.
I love the idea of having one person play one individual sim in a family - that was you have the freedom to still control a sim but its less control how you would interact and come across circumstances just like in real life, even if you are connected to a stranger for seperate sims I think that would be cool.
Sims 4 came out in 2014. Which counts as 21st century. The sims 3 came out in 2009, sims 2 came out in 2004 and the sims came out in 2000 which is classified at the end of the 20th century. Someone correct me if I am wrong please.
I love how there is this topic of “starting over” with pack in a new sims game when they could literally just add all the previous pack features into the base version of a new sims game. Crazy to me how The Sims have warped peoples mind into thinking they absolutely have to pay for every single feature.
I used the sims 3 to test what my real life wallpaper options would look like up on my walls. I used it to pick a real life wallpaper pattern. It was amazing. The sims 4 could never.
History repeat itself... as happened with The Sims 4 being recycled from the disaster of SimCity... maybe The Sims 5 will be a recycled product from Project Renee if it does not work
It’s kinda of sad.. bc with the sims 2 and sims 3 I used to play all the time for hours and never got bored.. but with the sims 4 I get bored.. and it’s such a money grabber.. I hate it. Like what happened? Why is sims 2 and sims 3 way better than the sims 4?
I haven’t played with my Sims since I started playing other games like "Crime Scene Cleaner" and "House Flipper". If you love the interior design aspect of the Sims, you’ll love "House Flipper".
When you look at communication with investors all that matters is profit. They don't look at what people are complaining about on RU-vid and Twitter. The Sims 4 is the most disliked Sims game ever but it's very profitable and it's in the end pretty smart of EA. A base game that is so boring, broken and unambitious, you will want to buy all the DLC just so your game has a bit of flavour. They are like those phone sex line operators, they will keep you hanging so you spend more money. I swear EA has been edging us for 10 years and we are so desperate for fun we stay.
Yep. I started playing when I came across a RU-vidr I used to watch who does Sims stuff. It looked fun. Then I installed it and found that the game was unplayable. Dozens of mods and a few expansion purchases later, the game is finally playable.
I would looooove just an open neighbourhood I hate how my sim can stand right beside a house or their own house and I have to go through a loading screen and "travel" there..
I dont either but I think what is the most aggregious is the swatches they did come out with are all the same. Nothing fun. Nothing new. 10 years and that's all they came up with ? Ew.
Honestly I'm cautiously optimistic. Sims 4 clearly needs a lot of love and attention to get it up to snuff, but I don't think it's unfeasible; game's not nearly as fundamentally broken as the Sims 3 was in it's final days. That engine was literally on fire, and not in a good way. Obviously the Sims 4 hasn't been getting the attention it needs, but presumably that's because they were working under the assumption that it's gonna be replaced anyway. With them abandoning any and all plans of a sequel and fully recommitting on the current game, it makes it at least plausible that they're gonna dump some of the considerable budget that would have gone into the Sims 5 into the Sims 4 instead. And the latest patch wasn't that bad of a start. Had fully given up on them ever fixing some of those bugs, but they actually did. If they not only keep that up but double down on it, I'd consider that a win. Already spent an ungodly amount of money on that game, so I wouldn't mind getting some (more) value out it. Wasn't looking forward to buying weather effects for the fifth time.
i mean what I wanted was them to take the feedback and put weather, pets, ownable cars, and open world as base game and retain all the life stages currently in Sims 4. They get to decide what a base game is and for the first time in the entire series lots of things could have been included at the start. We would only have to pay for those things “again” if Maxis decides to do it for the FIFTH time and doesn’t change at all. What Sims 5 was is the potential to change, to compete with games that are promising at least limited weather and a selection of pets and such at launch. They do not have to make weather and pets packs, they do not have to pack-lock cuddling in bed!!! Weather was suppose to be in base game Sims 2, it just litterally didn’t work yet so it became a pack and unfortunately that led to weather ALWAYS being packaged separately, but it doesn’t have to be. There was zero reason for it to be a pack in Sims 3 and 4 except the choice to hold it back and deliver it as add-in content. As far as I am concerned, they can sell holidays and experiences as a pack, that’s fine. Just not weather. And I know most people would hate it since Sims 4 has gone free to play (and now there is probably no going back), but just charge for the game again! Free-to-play just means I’m gonna get you to pay-to-play ANOTHER way.
I stop playing sims 4, 2 years ago, since none of the pack ( that cost a kidney for like 12 things that aren’t playable with 1-4 figure that doesn’t work ) properly work… I’m so sad I loved the game but it’s ain’t possible to play a game that can’t be properly run and you risk to loose everything every update … on top of it they made it almost impossible to play the sims 1-2-3 unless you find a cd copie ..
Was was looking at the store yesterday (since stuff is still on sale). Even after buying a handful of expansions and packs, and even with 30-50% off on almost everything, Steam still says I can add everything to my cart for over $1200.
Laura Miele said that they wanted to keep the sims 4 going for maybe 15 years. I'm not sure what happened over there that just made them give up on working on The Sims 5. But I seriously want them to reconsider. Jake Solomon (known for the xcom series) recently created a new studio that Grant Rodriek (formerly known as simgurugrant and was also responsible for Rene) joined where they aim to create a new life sim game. And with unreal 5 offering so much potential for life sim games that we have seen with InZoi other developers could soon start to work on life sim games. Meanwhile EA are going to try and appeal to the mobile market with Rene which is a completely different market. I would not be surprised if they are going to fall back to the sims4, investors are gonna wonder what on earth they are doing (because they can't grow the market much more with the sims4) and HOPEFULLY they will see reason by then, but I would definitely prefer for them to realize this themselves sooner.
What EA could've done is they could've hired the former team that did Life by You and they could've bought the rights to the unreleased game and they could've added a few unique Sims things and they could've released that as Sims 5. After all, Life by You did have Sims 3 vibes and it did have the former leader of Maxis in charge of the team, it would've made quite a sizable profit in the long run, after all, Paradox wasn't going to release it, EA could've snatched it up.
I doubt Paradox would have sold EA the scrapped project. It belongs to Paradox not the development team. The team didn’t get to take the game/code with them.
I'd be happy if Maxis took Sims 1 or 2 and gave it Sims 4 graphics and build mode. That's all they really need to do for a hit main game 😭 I've been showing my kids sims 1 & 2 to my teen kids to compare to sims 4. Even they're shocked at the quality drop.
The fact they still have investor days ... who tf burns their money for this lazy crap company? Are there still investors left not learning from the Ubisoft debacle? It's insane to image there are people willing to give EA millions of their dollars to produce nothing but shit.
The wonky table analogy is so real too because they keep adding all the packs (cake) and trying to even out the table legs with sugar packets 😂 (the patches)
i hope they do get overthrown lmao, maxis isn't even the same company anymore they have completely changed devs at least twice since sims 3 and since they are owned by EA they are in charge of hiring meaning all companies that have been with EA for long enough just makes them a pure extension of EA leaving the companies unique in name only.
Yeah, them not making TS5 is committing to the abomination that is 4. They can sell garbage, and people will keep buying it to try and make the game as good as the others.
its nice that they wanted to utilize the online functionality of the sims 4. the game’s online part has been sitting unused for sooo long its nice that they wanted to utilize the online functionality of the sims 4. sims 4 is an online game that was made to work for singleplayer the way the game does stuff is still very much same with how online only games do stuff. like the sim loading creating world and household loading etc.
They are hidden code in the base game. If your usersettings.ini file got reset somehow, they go invisible again unless that code gets added back. You can also grab a room with them off the gallery.
project renee sounds more and more like a... game mode. the way you're describing it here it makes it sound like a game mode that you'll be able to select on the main menu when you load the game up
It’s not an add-on. That was news sites not understanding the difference between Sims 4 and The Sims. EA never said it was a Sims 4 add-on and the news sites printed corrections.
I wish I could carry a pocket sized Satch in my pocket so he can review all my life decisions in this manner. He’d be like: “I think that’s a terrible decision, yes I do yes I *do* “
The state of the gaming world for the past 10 years has been as follows: Fans: "We want another instalment of this game please!" Developers: "We want to work on the next instalment for these fans please!" Corporates: "What's that you say? OK, how about we don't do what you all want and just keep flogging a dead horse for money!"
The only way to make the Sims futureproof would be to switch to a modern engine and drop whatever they're using at the moment. That would mean all expansions would need to be updated as well (not even talking about CC and mods), so it's never gonna happen, EA would never manage that in a lifetime.
Gameplay of the Sims 2 Open World and Customization Options from Sims 3 Build Mode from Sims 4 ---It's not that hard, EA. This combination would easily sell a million copies overnight. I guess they just don't like money.
It’s just so sad because it’s like they aren’t trying. There is this game I’m waiting to come out called To Pixelia and everytime I play the demos, I just fall more in love. And it’s a pixelated game so it’s not realistic graphics, it’s just it gives ppl what they want which is open world, cars, gym membership and more (not sure about color wheel). EA management just doesn’t understand what we want and it’s going to kill one of the oldest game franchises. Like if you are making it an extension, why wouldn’t you do sth like sims medieval again. It doesn’t need to be that game or in the same time period, but it was fun
So my question is what about those animations and new build/buy aspects they showed us a while ago? Where they were making the sims more animated to where we can really tell their emotions and how we can change the individual parts of furniture like beds and pillows. Is that just going to be put on the back burner to use for the next generation of The Sims or is this going to be a huge update for The Sims 4?
I'll return to the Sims 4 if they'll implement a proper open world, a color wheel, modern retextures, bug fixes and more things to do. If that will mean it will never happen, I'm going to be perfectly fine with never returning.
Cars are pointless without open world. It seems like sims 4 doesn't care about our experience actually playing the game. They just care about build mode. I like to play with multiple sims in my household, but then I feel punished whenever I want to travel with one sim, because I can't control what the others I left at home are doing. In sims 3, it was awesome, you could literally click on any home in the neighborhood and see what that sim was doing in their house!!!! Sims 4 gameplay is a bit sad. It basically forces you to have one sim that you care about and ignore the rest, or to play with a single sim household. It just feels like they don't care about the people who ACTUALLY play the game. I think they cater mostly to build mode players and to people who only play a little and get sick of it, or little kids who don't have long attentions spans and just play the game for a little, get boarded, and want to start a new family. Sims 3 had lifelong ambitions that gave you a reason to play long term. The fact that so many people have to have a handful of mods to make this game playable really says a lot. :/ Honestly, I have recently gone back and played Sims medieval, and I love so much about it. The story is funny. I can fast-forward through the current action. Fast forwarding actually works. It is open world! It has the color wheel. OMG, it just reminds me how much things suck in sims 4. Oh, and the inventory!!! OMG, selling things to the market stall in Flinchwick and you have to click one at a time!??!??!! This is 2024, why can't we type the number we want to sell? And when we try to gift something to someone or enter something in the fair, for some reason it splits the same item up multiple times? Why do roses show up 4 different times? I'm assuming it is because of the different quality levels but yet you cant see the quality levels from that screen, so it doesn't make sense. --End rant, since this is already too long
