I also realised I've cut a bit of commentary by accident while discussing the existing mori gameplay. What I meant to say is I enjoy using the green/ebony Mori to confirm a kill to prevent flashlight/flash bang/pallet saves. This has the downside of not being able to get perk value that relies on hooks, but it does allow you to get the kill which is very important Vs strong SWFs and survivors who will throw themselves at you to prevent the kill adding depth to the Mori offerings and actually changing up the gameplay for both sides. My bad for cutting that section.

I find it funny how these nerfs all but remove her ability to do anything but drop a drone in chase, which is the thing survivors complained about the most.

Yeah i understand but skull merchant has the ability to freely injure you. Plus not only she can hinder you but gain speed too. U could reach reach a 15% speed difference which is like having bloodlust 3 over the survivor (not even counting you can gain bloodlust over it). So yeah her kit was overtuned and definely needed nerfs. Maybe the nerfs are too much now but she was super frustrating to play against and definitely needed them.

Clown cannot lockdown a part of the map at once. Amount of times I lost health state because some drone was hidden behind some wall and it activated just when I was chased is too much for me. I am glad for these nerfs, really boring killer and 'just crouch during chase' is not a counterplay you think it is. It's a free hit for any competent killer.

@@kamsko5957 You know what WASN'T hidden behind that wall? The gigantic yellow circle every drone places on the ground showing where it's at. Had you paid an iota of attention to the ground, you could've deactivated that drone preemptively or simply run around it when chase began.

I swear to God, I’ve read the Skull Merchant’s power description in full at least three times, and only now that I’ve gone back for a fourth specifically looking for it after you mentioned it do I see the bit that says “Survivors who are crouching or standing still inside the Area of Effect cannot be detected by the Scan Lines.” That should be in bold, underlined, all-caps, and in bright red, appear as a loading screen tip every time Skull Merchant is picked, and also appear as a tooltip when you go to hack the drone.

Also when the drone is in sleeper state the lines are where the lights on the model of the drone are (afaik this isn't mentioned anywhere in the power). They also made it so the colour of the scan lines change depending on if it will scan you, when they are grey they won't scan you and when they are orange they will. This is also something not explained anywhere outside the patch notes of when they added this which to someone who doesn't understand the power probably looks confusing af as the scan lines randomly change colour.

Here are my suggestions to tweak her instead of this neutering of a nerf. * Active scan lines move slower at base kit, but have a boost of speed when you change the rotation direction with a quick visual/audio cue for the survivor to react to if they're fast enough. This will encourage the killer to change the rotation direction more often, making chases more interactive and less "stick a drone in loop, let it do its thing" * Increase the duration a survivor is scanned, but you only get haste when you're chasing that survivor. That way you get more time to track them down but they won't be screwed over by a teammate getting scanned on the other side of the map. * Give clawtrapped survivors a way to prematurely remove their clawtrap before the battery expires so they don't feel as helpless. Maybe bring back the Dissolution effect so you can counter the power at a cost, or hacking drones will reduce a portion of their battery life. I actually really like Skull Merchant in her current state. While she is massively overhated, there could be changes to make her less of a burden to play against. However, this change just goes completely in the wrong direction.

I mean not really. She needs to continously replace hacked drones and survivors can avoid being scanned when hacking them. She is worse at 3 genning than killers like hag or plague or knight or singularity.

sprint burst / map awareness (just in ur brain, not the perk) + repair the 5% of the gen 8 times and boom - u r no longer locked in. Skill issue.

@@CrazyPumpkin1 Yeah, but you forgot gens can be in a deadzone, all pallets can be dropped and she can also take other slowdown perks. I had many games like that, its a snorefest, that's why many people just unalive themselves on first hook when they find out she is the killer.

What makes you think sadako 3.0 got nuked (aside from the released version where she actually did get nuked until later) cause she's pretty much how she was when she first came out with lots of quality of life changes

I'm assuming it's because sadako 2.0 made her strong thus survivors don't know how to counter, while yes that is one of the reasons she got changed, but another reason she got changed was because us sadako mains despise sadako 2.0, they removed what was unique about her, nerfing her chase abilities (nerfed reikos watch, remove bloodlust and chase while demanifest) while making her map traverse limited because she can condemn survivors globally without holding a tape Sadako 3.0 was a revert to all those changes she received from 2.0, I will say she's no longer strong and would be somewhere in C tier, but if I want her to be strong she needs buffs, not reworking her into something different to the point we no longer enjoy playing her

​​@@jaymatsu23673.1 Sadako is the weakest version of sadako and most of her add-ons were not adjusted for the change in her mechanics making large amounts of them completely useless. The add-ons they did change were all massive nerfs that didn't need the nerfs in the first place to the point one of her iri add-ons is literally a meme addon now. She is also the only killer off the top of my head where the survivors can outright delete your power and you have 0 control over it.

I hate SM, but there nerfing anything interesting about her, but keeping the annoying aspect of losing a health state by a tiny pixel of a scan line I didn't notice, and making it even harder to counter since we can longer see scanlines from a distance, is kind of a cruel joke at this point.

I do not agree with the countplay part. Yeah it was pretty much crouch when about to get scanned but the problem is that skull merchant doesn't get any penalty for it. For example crouching to avoid nemesis tentacles put him on cooldown so you get rewarded for actually dodging it. On the other hand for skull merchant you had to crouch but doing so she gets massive distance advantage over you to the point that even if you dodged the scans you can get in m1 range. Same for clown, throwing bottles also gives him a bit of speed penalty (not counting addons). If you get scanned and get injured, Skull Merchant doesnt get any penalty so the distance you can get from her is almost nothing to the point you would rather get M1 so she's put on cooldown. Also not counting that certain tiles are a clear death sentance against her. If they make an animation like nemesis after scanning the survivor she is chasing and injures then she would probably be balanced.

As with many things, these issues could be solved by better sign posting. Change the scanned graphic to make it more obvious you can crouch under it, and have the drone play a clear "Motion detected" voice line upon scanning a survivor, lampshading that it won't scan you if you don't move.

I came up with the idea that Keep the haste and remove the hindered and injure and make them Blinded and Oblivious instead but now I just think keep the hinder and keep the haste, and just stop her from instant injuring a survivor, because 90% of people who complain about her is she insta injures, the Skull Merchant Changes need to be reverted, because I bet the next rework will just be another nerf, or just changing her power entirely from drones.

The worst part about loving this killer is - no matter WHAT they do, no matter the nerfs, no matter how bad she is, no matter how fun she is, now matter how decently balanced she is; people are still gonna dc and demand for more. I played ONE game of her in months (pc issues) and that 1 game had a Dwight praising bhvr for killing her. It's dumb

Let's see how many nerfs my boy got because of all the trash playing this game: Patch 1.8.1 Nerf 1: Increased the time Survivors must have left the Terror Radius to have their Auras revealed from 1 second to 10 seconds. Nerf 2: Increased the Terror Radius from 16 meters to 24 meters. This change was motivated by a desire to allow Survivors more room to maneuver around The Nightmare without having their Auras revealed for being outside his Terror Radius. (I thought survivors wanted killer interaction... I guess not) Nerf 3: increased the duration of the Movement Speed penalty after tagging a Survivor with Dream Demon from 1 second to 3 seconds. This change was motivated by a desire to allow Survivors to put more distance between themselves and The Nightmare before they fall asleep and become vulnerable to his attacks. (I guess 3-10 seconds of damage immunity was not enough for the trash survivors) Nerf 4: dying Survivors who are healed to the Injured State are automatically woken up. (Why? Oh yeah for trash survivors let's just allow them to wake up for no reason) Patch 3.2.0 Nerf 5: Buff: Asleep Survivors now suffer from the Oblivious Status Effects. (This was not a buff it made him unable to use half the perks in the game and the Lullaby takes away the point of making anyone Oblivious) Patch 4.7.0 Nerf 6: Added a Movement Speed penalty while placing Dream Snares, reducing his Movement speed to 4.0 m/s. Nerf 7: Reduced the maximum number of Dream Snares from 8 to 5. (I guess it is ok for Trapper and Hag to have 10 though) Nerf 8: Reduced the maximum number of Dream Pallets from 10 to 7. (I guess it was just too hard for survivors to use an Alarm Clock, or a Hand Clap, or fail a skill check on a generator, or fail a healing skill check) Nerf 9: Survivors using Alarm Clocks are granted full immunity from falling asleep for 30 seconds, including when The Nightmare attacks them. Outdoor Rope: Applies a moderate (-6 %) Action Speed penalty to Repair, Healing, and Sabotage actions. Nerf 10: Applies a slight (-2 %) Action Speed penalty to Repair, Healing, and Sabotage actions. Nerf 11: For Survivors in the Dream World, the distance at which repairing noises can be heard is increased by 8 meters. Jump Rope: Tremendously decreases Survivors' Action speed when in the Dream World. Nerf 12: Applies a considerable (-9 %) Action Speed penalty to Repair, Healing, and Sabotage actions. Nerf 13: Applies a moderate (-4 %) Action Speed penalty to Repair, Healing, and Sabotage actions. Nerf 14: For Survivors in the Dream World, Grunts of Pain are 50 % louder. So BHVR wants us to play skullmerchant like a worse Legion? Injure a survivor in chase with drones then be a M1 for the rest of the chase (5% Hindered is almost nothing, I've seen 4% Hindered when fully infected against a Wesker) And she's only going to have 1 scan line that's fully visible, no one is going to get randomly scanned so it's going to give you 0 info outside of chase...

Great video! I enjoy playing Skull Merchant I like to set drones here and there and then chase survivors into them so I can get the 2 tap with the claw trap. I feel like perhaps the haste part of her kit could've been removed and it would've been ok but BHVR are really just gutting her to appease the entitled survivors than can't learn match ups lmao.

ig the main reason why we got so many bad reworks while reworks are being pretty rare compared to tweaks is bc there are too many killers, stats of which bhvr needs to monitor, they simply can’t handle the amount of things in the game, that’s why: wesker is being most bugged killer since his release, twins rework was failed, various bugs on other killers aint patched(sadakos “buffed” phasing, blight’s repeating syringe animation, nemesis invisible zombies, chucky silent attack charging etc…). Bhvr needs to spend one update on reorganizing devs work and fix “spaghetti” code but ig short term money from another feng skin and new bugged chapter is more appealing.

"Mid tier killer" but has the ability to give multiple negative status effects and can basically shut down any loop by pressing a button lol. And before y'all say "She has counterplay" her counterplay only works if she's not chasing as it's damn near impossible to work around the drones mechanics when the killer is also chasing you.

Skull Merchant is such a shining icon of BHVR messing up so bad in every way. Her rep since launch has been driven to the ground. In addition to the dreaded chess merchant, her awful visual design and lore didn't really warm people up to her either. And then the repeated reworks that made people hate her even more in addition to making it really hard to naturally find out the counterplay to her power because it kept changing plunged her even further. At this point I don't even know if anything can be done to save her. She doesn't have the fun power to rally a supportive base (like demo or billy in the past) and doesn't have the cool lore/design to draw people in (like dredge or unknown), so she's left with a completely empty hand. Genuinely don't know what genius rework BHVR is planning but at this point just scrap the whole thing and start over.

I blame otzdarva, he's a skull merchant basher even though he says BHVR doesn't listen to him, I know the devs probably take his opinions verbatim. I always see a clip of Otz saying something then 3-4 weeks later its in the Dev update.

I'm surprised this game still going considering how little they care about how fun and enjoying killer side is compared to survivors, they do nerfs to mid tier killers based on how hard survivors spam whining which is the exact feedback you shouldn't take seriously, meanwhile killers much stronger than her get just as strong forever, biased much lol So many survivors would rather have a killer nerfed than learn to play better against it, this is a problem I only seen in this game, survivors being entitled of other side being nerfed instead of getting better at the game, there's literally 1k+ hours survivors that have no idea what they're doing because they rather ask for nerfs than get better and learn something, and it's all because there kind of mindset was created because of BHVR not addressing it properly, they probably don't mind the toxicity which is insane, else they would of done more about it.

The Clown: The Clown's haste bottles can't be used in loops without benefiting survivors. SM's Advantages: Compared to the clown, or any killer for that matter (that do one thing), SM receives a constant haste bonus for minimal effort, along with the undetectable status effect and them having the quietest footsteps in the entire game. Power Comparison: SM gets multiple different buffs, and she nerfs the survivors (Broken, Haste, Hindered, Undetectable) without needing add-ons, while the Clown only receives Haste and Hindered Gameplay: Mindless gameplay for both killers and survivors, since SM doesn't need to do anything to get value from her power, whilst the clown still needs to know when its a good idea to use bottles. And don't get me started on how "crouching" shouldn't be a counter, because even a single crouch tap can screw you over and give SM a free hit, essentially meaning A: Dodge power, get injured B: Don't dodge power, get injured This is why I think SM needed to be changed in some ways, BHVR could've definitely done it better, and do tell me if I got anything wrong or missed something, or if you have a different opinion from mine.

This new basekit mori "will not" encourage slugging for 4k. Look, nowadays every single killer tunnels, proxy camping and slug players. Im kinda new, almost at 1k hours, but 80% of the killers always slug for the 4k. So this mori chanhe will do nothing, except you use less offering. Skully? Well, I know her counterplay, but I rarely go againts her, no one using this killer, probably because of the hate.

Her counterplay is to play and win chess against her. If you fail to even understand this counter, then you should 100% uninstall this game. Then, go back to league and run it down town your top laner playing as jungler, going 0/15, and then get a 14-day vacation, please and thank you.

I'll be honest, I don't like the Skull Merchant (mostly because of her aesthetic), but this is straight-up nonsense. Why destroy a killer just because people don't like going against them? It makes me curious how almost everybody DCs no matter what, praying to face something they find "enjoyable" every time. Dead by Daylight is a casual game, where you try out casual builds and characters. If you don't like it, DEAL WITH IT. This community is so hiveminded and doesn't want to understand that every player has different tastes. Instead, they feel the need to insult you and send mean messages.

I havent played much in a while, but i do know skull merchant was hated for dragging out the game. If that was still the case, im glad shes dead. If that issue was fixed, then i dont really have an opinion on it. If its just that poeple dislike playing against her, then killing her is a bit dumb.

Hey! In case you weren’t aware she was given a rework about a year ago that got rid of her 3 gen playstyle. Among the many changes she got the most notable one was that her drones no longer detected you while working on a gen so her ability to hold games hostage was removed with that rework. Additionally, a few months ago an anti 3 gen mechanic made its way into the game so she can’t even 3 gen if she wanted to. Long story short, they nerfed her because people complained, not because she was oppressive 🫠

By far the most unfun killer to play against in the game. Until she gets a full rework, nothing could possibly nerf her enough.

​​​​@@blueboy1958 there's Zero Counterplay for the drone if SM forces the damage state. Even the only way to get rid of the drones is only temporary and can just be negated by recalling the drone. It's not even just SM that has this problem btw. Singularity has the exact same issue now because they turbo gigga buffed his robo ass.

@@blueboy1958 The Biopod aimlock while outside of it on top of the reduced invulnerabilitiy after an EMP and the faster targetting were an obvious problem when put together the moment the patch notes were released. I said so on other YT videos, on reddit and on X. You can't even get an EMP in chase anymore unless there is someone 99%ing the printers. They completely f'ed his balance in the ptb and released him to live servers completely unchanged☠️. Like, wtf?! Do they even learn?!

Gutting a killer and making them perhaps the worst killer in the game for A YEAR is absolutely ridiculous and it’s for sure a long time. 3 months is even too long. Plus if you have played dbd before you know that devs can’t be trusted when talking about dates. 4 years ago they us a day and date where cross progression for Nintendo would be released, some people bought the game on Switch because if this, but when the date came there were no cross progression and no explanation to why. It took them about 6 months before they even mentioned anything about it and to this day they haven’t even said sorry or explained why it never came. And you seriously believe that when they finally rework her it’s going to be a good rework? Bhvr is making horrible decisions clvery often and people should be angry to let them know it’s shitty. Imagine what a cool game we would have if bhvr actually listened to the players who have thousands of hours of experience before making changes.

😂😂😂yeah the survivors just complain about any and everything to be honest it is all a part of her game plan to stop you from doing gens lile it clearly tells you how to counter her play in her power description like how do people have the time to read about the knight but can't counter play Skull Merchant that doesn't make sense to me guess what im be pissing off survivors even more now by playing knight because my skully is nerfed
