There is something about this song that spans decades and generations. It is the purest of pure soul/pop/R&B. Delightful orchestration, great vocals and it is a song that lives on long past 1973 when it was released and charted #17 on Billboard's Hot 100.

I have listened to Larry Bragg sing with the great "Tower of Power," and ladies and gentlemen, as fantastic as they are, I now realize that I like these ladies with Larry MUCH BETTER. The wonderful sound they create, in conjunction with Larry's incredible voice, is, believe me, something to love (check out their groove in "Take Me To The River"), in fact I'm ADDICTED. Btw, take special note of the drummer. They are the heartbeat of any band, and this girl BRINGS IT... solid as a rock. More people should hear this band, so please share them with the world!!

I discovered ToP after I heard the Anaheim Kingsmen do this tune (my friend Ron Cain covered the trumpet solo so well) and though I dig all the tunes, So Very Hard To go is my favourite because it always takes me back to my youth and I remember my friend who is no longer with us. I never really liked the replacements as much as I love Lenny Williams - until I heard Larry in Oakville, Ontario (and several time since) and now I can't wrap my head around Larry not being in the band. So it was a good surprise to stumble on this tonight and thank you for posting the video. Also, if you girls are every in Ontario, or even Buffalo, I want to see you play. You're much better looking than the originals.

The cover was great, but the horn section just needs a little more "playing in the pocket", and to fix some intonation issues. Besides this was great. Also the trumpet player showed have it played it in it's written higher register than taking it down a register. Still a great set.
