South Africa should of kept the SADF instead of disbanding it after apartheid most of the current problems could be put down easily ex the looting and and so on not defending apartheid but SADF as a defending force was pretty good in tactics
My father was in the old SADF & 2nd battalion during that period of time , it taught him alot but buggered his knees up - his other friends from the force have also got the same problems - the thing with the SADF they didn't do things sloppy or lazy they actually did it the right way and that's how you get through life , you've got to not be lazy with things.
My old neighbor fought for the SADF he misses his old country. He moved to the Netherlands and always told me if his dog died, he would go back. I am a soldier myself, and he spoke with me for an hour about the bush war and showed me his wounds on his arm, which he is still not able to move. I gave him the recognition he deserved and gave my respects to him. We think he moved back, since we never saw him again.
