I'm playing on Chess.com -- these aren't sponsored videos but the site seems pretty cool.
Chess has been having a resurgence in popularity this year so I have finally acquiesced to semi-popular demand and started to play a bit. First, let's hone our skills and get a little more warmed up and then let's conquer chess dot com one board gamer at a time.

Most definitely. I'm enjoying this series immensely no matter how he plays so imo he should just play whatever kind of chess he wants to without worrying about what we think. Can't please all of the people all of the time and this series seems very popular anyway

Computer: "You want to trade a queen for a queen and a knight?! Inaccuracy!" I feel like the engine sometimes suggest stuff that only makes sense if you can see 20 moves ahead, and makes no freaking sense on the face of it.

If you want the best analysis of your games you should use a bot that you can alter how many moves in the future it's scanning for. A low level player like me barely can see 5 moves ahead, so a computer looking 20+ moves ahead is too much to really help me

Something I'd like to point out, at 23:47 after your opponents knight move in the analysis, the reason why rook to f4 is recommended by the engine is because it effectively forks the black knight and mate in one. If your opponent rescued their knight by taking your c pawn for example, rook to h4 is checkmate because of your knight and your opponents rook blocking their king's escape. It's a pretty cool tactic.

At 13:26 you can move your Rook to F3, attack the Knight and the Knight takes the A1 Pawn then you move the rook to H3 and that's a check mate.

I understand not wanting to analyze games you made obvious blunders in, but I feel like often you also avoid analyzing games where you didn't even recognize where you missed wins or strong advantages. Either way, been loving the chess series NL!

So I think you might want to know this for endgames with real low time - you can premove multiple moves, so in some situations you can premove a check mate even if you only have like 1 second so that the opponent can't run out the clock.

That first game gave me a heart attack, but the second game! I mentioned it in the last one but I know you've got a backlog so you couldn't have seen it anyway. You're playing a gambit which most gambits by definition are offensive. There is no, "should I play this defensively?" The moment you decide you want to play defense you've given up the positional advantage you got by giving up a piece. Playing a gambit defensively is effectively just playing a pawn or more down for no reason

Pretty sure the fork with the knight at 10:40 loses the game, he can take your pawn on G2 with check, if you take with the rook, you get mated by the queen, if you move your king he takes your rook with discovered check and then just mates you anyway

In the first game he was considering blundering knight move for uncomfortably long time :D (27 Ne6 gives opponent triple attack in g2 with check so NL didn't really have a fork in this line)
