Hi Carl thanks for going over the basics. I am thinking of buying this stihl km 56 but when I went into the dealer to purchase one they advised me that this one wasn't powerful enough to properly handle the edger attachment. What do you think? I was told to purchase the km 131r. Let me know your thought I would love to hear your opinion.
tiget tiget thanks for trusting our input. Although the KM56 does work we find most people who purchase a Kombi step up to the KM91 or more, you are purchasing a machine that will be used for more than a trimmer, edger, polesaw....... it is worth spending a bit more when you go Kombi. As for a dedicated edger the FC56 is powerful enough for the task if used weekly/biweekly. They do a great job of maintaining an edge.
I'm just another homeowner, but you may have to take a shovel to identify or isolate the edge of the concrete surface if it's a sidewalk or driveway. "The Midnight Chopper" has a vid using the FC56 of his first time edging an overgrown sidewalk that will help answer your question. "SB Mowing" also does extreme makeovers of neglected lawns that may give good illustrations. It really comes down to how overgrown the edge is. Once the edge is established, the FC56 is good to go.
Thanks for the feedback, the intent was to give the purchaser of this machine a quick run through on the basics. We will continue to work on improving our content.
