That was cruel. The guitar tone was complete ass. i mean a 1980's marshall lead 12 amp sounds better than this, hell a Peavey bandit sounds better than this. Not a one of those guitar judges would sound much different and have every excuse in the book. Very first thing I would ask the judges is which one would let me jack into their amp so I can peel some face here LOL.
Wow, very cool. Thanks, for sharing. Congrats to the winner & everyone that had the (you know what) to do this in front of all these mega guitar slingers. Kept thinking "don't play Eruption" & obviously don't play "Smoke on the Water". Even though it would have been hilarious if someone would have played Smoke on the Water. I would have laughed.
The last guy was the best technique wise but shreeding with no sense !!! No beggining middle and end !!!! Its old after 30 seconds !!!!! People only want to go fast and they dont learn to songwriting !
Some of that was hard to watch... but playing with that sound and those guitars I can see how thinks might bomb! Kip was stern but fair! but the max i would have awarded was a 6 and that was to AC/DC man, he at least played somewhat in tune and in time and entertained.
If the guy from Buffalo New York from the little trolls was on here he would get an 11 I mean they have packed houses in Buffalo New York the little trolls I think it's the trolls now my favorite playing since the 60s
shred? I will make it simple! Alex Lifeson rush, Ric Emmitt Triumph, Randy rhoades, Stevie Rae Vaughn Daid Gilmore, Floyd, three April wine guitar players, steely Dan, mark knofler dire straits! Simple!😉👍
Thanks for sharing this! I couldn’t make the Cruise this year so this is the next best thing to being there. Keith Roth was a great host for the event and Kip Winger was totally entertaining. 🎸
Number one really really sucked number two was about a four I give the camera work a 1 even the older cannons has a mic level that's what I'm good at yes I can play no I can't barely play anybody else's music I make my own mainly because the effing RU-vid won't let me use other people's songs so I learned to make my own I got the film Eddie Money at the Lilac Festival in Rochester one time does 10,000 Maniacs were there Bob Marley's Band The Wailers man I love Rochester New York the blues is the influence I have a picture of Randy Rhoads from the first concert in 1981 I think 8 * 10 somebody made they got to bring a camera in there and it's not too good really but I really like.... yeah
Hey, I thought we moved past the grunge Also you are on a cruise ship on the Caribbean, Everyone seems to be in shorts, t-shirts, light clothing “except”...
Brook, I have no idea who the announcer is. Must have missed the intro. He looks like Paul Stanley in disguise (lol). Yes, it's def a cruise. I've been wanting to go for years.
Atleast at guitar center you get someone whos actually heard a song before lol but which of us didnt start like this, just brings back memories of annoying the crap out of my parents and siblings lol
Fun event for a cruise! Good on the people they put them out there. I can run arpeggios all day, but that doesn't represent my talent. Let's have some Gary Moore style stuff. Music with feeling such as Parisienne Walkways! That would be a show! "Parisienne Walkways
Very kool Im a Drummer So there is no Secret here Bonham is my Teacher in spirit. I Just love the Moment RnRoll can come together with Good Citizens and Jam Hendrix & Bonham whould be Proud.
This is both excruciating and entertaining, Guitar Center on the high seas for sure!😅 One thing I noticed a lot of these players do is over-rely on tremolo picking, typical Blues licks and random tapping. I think the key to this type of contest is to start out with a really good rhythm part and then play some solo fills in the same key (E, A, or G work well). Joel's advice to let the notes sing after each phrase is well put. However, it is difficult to go blind into one of these things playing an unfamiliar guitar that might have a sub-par setup…the ones that brought their own instruments were wise to do so, and they generally played better because of it.
Im waiting for one of the judges to actually be as honest as Kip winger only no filters... Something like, " Are you people fucking with me??" Then just leave. Quietly stand and walk my ass off stage left... Far far away..
I was rapping my pants the first time I played him for people I picked the song Arlo Guthrie Good Morning America it has a couple pretty hard twists in it I got pissed and I walked around the crowd telling them the Fockers won't turn my guitar on cuz I'm not a professional I called the guy's wife I asked her how would he like it if his guitar was not plugged in LOL he wasn't my friend then but he is today
These guys can barely even play. I think they need to require a certain amount if experience to enter, or dont record the contest. If I was up there, I would blow everybodys doors off. If you cant at least try to go balls out, why bother. No one here knows what a Dominant 7th is or what a Lydian Flat 7 seven is. That requires some experience and these constants have 0.
@KipWingerTV Contestants shouldn’t be judged as seasoned pros like Gus because they’re not auditioning. You were judged by Beavis and Butthead characters because all your songs were cheesy and dated. The judges should have prepared and written out or downloaded criteria for judging guitar solos instead of imitating Simon Cowell.
