I can confirm this. I review every book I read, and the view count is terrible lol I still love doing it, though.

How wonderful! If this doesn't encourage people to make a BookTube channel, I don't know what would!

This is really lovely, Mark. Thank you. (I have been thinking about trying to put myself on a bit more of a regular booktube schedule rather than my seat-of-the-pants approach. Maybe next year...)

This is such a great video. You’re right about people doing videos for themselves as much as anyone else. Book review videos definitely help to define the channel even if they’re lower viewing figures. Challenges are great and I’ve enjoyed the ones I’ve set up for myself, and you’re right if you fall behind it doesn’t matter. I used to think it did. Wow I didn’t know you could look up the University reading lists. I assumed it was just in house for the students. Brilliant video mate.

I really enjoy making the TBR videos, but, like you, my wrap up at the end of the month looks very different from my plan.

Yes tags do help a lot in the beginning but I agree as the years go on they are less fun lol. Great video. Thanks !

WONDERFUL. I'm planning a "What's on my TBR and why I have them". Currently I have 17 on my bookshelf that are TBR and they all have a story as to why I have them. Some have been on in my TBR for maybe 18 months 😱. Read one : Buy two 😳

This video is a breath of fresh air. I'm still figuring out this whole BookTube thing lol. However, I'm enjoying documenting my thoughts on what I've recently read. I also switch between audio reviews or in front of the camera reviews if I feel like it. Wonderful video sir! 🙂❤📚

Wonderful video! For me, I don't watch review videos of books I want to read because I enjoy knowing as little as possible before going into it. I will more likely watch review videos for books/genres I don't normally gravitate towards so I can narrow down which ones I should try.

Another great video! Thanks for the tips. As a nervous introvert, it's taken some time to get to that point but I'm hoping to get my first video sorted in the next few days. I'm trying to not put too much pressure on it. Just to get *something* up and then go from there. I'll likely look at the book newbie tags at a later stage. I think I might benefit from few eyes in the beginning. 🤣

@@BookTimewithElvis thanks! I did manage to get a video done and was publishing it before I could change my mind but RU-vid rejected it and would only let me put it up if I edited some of the music with the YT studio but that isn’t that easy to use and keeps glitching (the music I’d used to my knowledge was fine to use but I guess it’s even more complicated when not edited in YT). Currently in limbo as I just haven’t been able to find more info on how to fix it or use Yt studio for editing audio in several parts.

Lovely advice. I'm a very new booktuber. I have a lot of ideas, but my struggle is making the time to work on them when I'm not at my day job! I make sure I have time to read, but as you likely know, sitting down to record can be harder than it sounds. P.S. If October is Victober, what is November? I don't believe I'm up to speed on the next "thing"!

I'm thinking of starting a channel, or I should say, put more effort into my channel. One thing about starting a channel is to make sure that you're ready with your equipment. I haven't got a camera yet so Im using my phone and Im not satisfied with my videos. Thanks for the tips.

As someone who watches a lot of booktube this all sounds like great advice to me Mark! I would say that you shouldn’t worry about your wrap up not matching your TBR for the month, if most people are like me they can’t remember what you said you were going to read anyway 😉 Also for new channels I’d say not to make videos that are too long. I will really only watch long videos- over 20 minutes from people I’ve been watching for a while and know I like, I think newbies should try and keep them short and sweet and they’ll get more initial subscribers, they can then do longer videos if they fancy it.

Love all the advice! Definitely the booktube newbie tag. It really helps people find your channel. I like my 1001 book challenge because it gives me a video record of the books and I tend to forget books. 🎉😮
@jamiebbooks
@jamiebbooks 10 месяцев назад
I'm liking that video record part too. I started keeping a reading spreadsheet in 2007 to keep track of what I read, but it doesn't capture good impressions of what I read, just titles and a 10 point decimal rating system. Even if many of my videos early on are not really great entertainment for others, they record much more of what I thought of the books I read.

I regularly peruse defence force reading lists (US, UK, Australia). I did laugh when you opened with book reviews. It's interesting that they are such a minority on booktube (although there's millions of Stephen King reviews 😴😴). I do find tags rather tiresome I must say 🤭🤭
