Chris Storm depends on what you’re after. I use mine for a daily car and currently have Tein Flex Z on it and they ride wonderfully. If I were after more of a performance setup I’d likely go with BCs or Fortune Auto. A little more pricey but you get the customization of spring rates and such.

Nicolas Moreno all IS300s have 2JZ engines. If you’re after a manual, good luck. They’re hard to find and some people want a premium for them.

U dnt need to change the bottom end. Swap the rods and pistons with gte one. Done.

I think the back seat are fine but gosh yes the cupholders suck soooooo much on these these things and the windshield is so small too.

@@z33avery30 Let's see, they share the same platform, they share the same body, the major difference is the non turbo engine and the left hand steering that the GS version recieved as the JZS160 while the JZS161 got the GTE engine and right hand drive and most likely a more beefy drivetrain overall.

How much do they go for where you are? In NZ they're quite rare and go for about 6-10nzd, we get the is200 and toyota altezza with the 3sge cheaper over here

For SURE, though it's not rated with a ton of power they are super comfortable and sporty even "tossable" in stock form... as long as its been maintained. Many you'll find at this point are beaten up and worn out unfortunately

@@LucoreAuto there are sc300 manuals between 92 and 97. Sadly none for the gs300 but i heard there's a kit that used the 5 speed from the 240sx

@@sounddrivenofficial technically exist but very VERY hard to find. And unfortunately something that rare usually means unlikely to be torn apart and turned into a "build" There's always a WAY.. just get ready to put in some WORK!

@@3dler954 that swap is definitely not cheap or something to easily consider, its a LOT of work especially if you want something with good interior fitment. Unfortunately, you are correct. They are getting harder and harder to find to work from

@@3dler954 oh indeed there are, we're always out here to help... for a price. Peddle box, an R154, clutch flywheel pressure plate, all the hydraulics, shifter plate adapter, flywheel... and more. All parts costs before you even begin the labor side which alone will cost easily north of $1,000. You can very easily be $4,000 into a swap without starting even a first power mod.

I just dropped 1.5k to upgrade/tune my awful engine leak on my 02', I've only had it for about a year and a half now, they did not take the best care of it. I got it for 2k down from 3 with some nice haggling, dude said the a.c. worked, NOPE. That alone is a k to fix. Anyway I wish you the best with fixing/tuning it up.

Wrong!

I've had both cars and I agree 100%. The GT86 is jumpy and doesn't slide smoothly around turns without aftermarket suspension. The boxer 4 engine is revvy but needs major massaging to get decent power. Turbo kits for it are expensive and you really need an E85 tune to make it worth it, which puts you in the $5000+ range to get the engine in shape without any suspension mods yet. Then if you blow the engine you need to come up with $2500 and hopefully your parts aren't demolished in the maze that is the engine. At that point you might as well just get an RB or 2JZ and take out a $10K loan to get that build done. IS300 plus $5000 in brakes, suspension and turbo kit and you have a 350-400HP 4 door that can slide around corners without trying to kill you and it has a solid deck, cast iron inline 6 engine that has TONS of aftermarket support and is bulletproof. And if you blow the engine you can pull all your parts off the engine and slap them on a used $800 2JZGE and you are back in the game. Wanna go nuts? Another $5000 can get you a heavily built 2JZGTE and R154 and as many horses as you can afford. Want to just keep them stock? IS300 is a bit slower overall but it's comfortable and easy to work on yourself. GT86 looks dope and gets you revved at stop lights, hopefully you don't have a dog or go on any road trips because there's no room for anything or anyone. If anything breaks you better have a friend who works at a Toyota or Subaru dealership.

@@teamneverlost The Beams motor wasn't put in the North American IS300 and often people refer to the IS300 as an "Altezza". The Beams also revs higher and is more responsive than the boxer motor in the GT86. The Altezza weighs more, but that can be fixed with weight reduction and by tuning the Beams for more HP. The 3SGE is much more capable of taking mods where the FA20 and its variants need major internal modification to put out much more than 300HP. The Altezza also can take a 1JZ, a 2JZ and even a 1UZ with modification, so can the GT86 but not nearly as easily and the work is basically all custom.
