@user-sj2zy3rp2p “How long” you’ve ridden is determined by how much you ride each day, how diverse your riding is, etc. Has very little to do with how many years you’ve ridden. I know a lot of guys that have ridden for 25 years and probably have ridden around 10,000 miles. I do that easily in under a year. Not much question which of us has more “motorcycle experience”.

I’ve been riding since 1977 and have owned about 20 bikes but my fav of them all is my 2004 GSXR600 which I find perfect for the street. I love the riding position because it keeps your core strong if you do it right as well as the power band. It’s more then anyone could ever need on the road. My 2nd fav is the 1985 RZ350. Liter bikes are somewhat like a Hellcat engine compared to a BMW M3 engine. I personally like how most liter bikes tend to be not as “high strung” compared to 750’s and 600’s. My Bimota YB6 EXUP (has a FZR1000 engine) cruises at only 3000 rpm at typical highway speeds.

I tried an Aprilia Tuono V4 a few weeks ago and I was left in absolute awe of the machine. It lifted my front wheel in 230 kph in 5th... I immediately wanted one, but honestly, riding my KTM 790 Duke lets me use all the gears and is super quick and agile, it's absolutely made for twisties. I love going into a curve and quick-shifting down 2 gears to stay in the proper revs, feeling the rear wheel move a little, etc. I feel like the Tuono would just feel too much of a bike for the twisty roads I love to do. Like I wouldn't need another gear, wouldn't matter what riding mode I'm in, whatever. It's just too refined. But I absolutely get why people have them. And this is not even a proper sports bike.

I went from my CBR500R to a 2008 CBR1000RR… quite a difference but at the end of the day, a bike is a bike - litre bikes just pull in any gear and some people want that rather than having to rev out a smaller engine.

How long did it take you to get confident riding your 1000RR? I have a 4RR I’ve been riding for two months. My plan is to learn how to ride for one riding season, then upgrade to a S1K. Only reason I’m debating is because I heard if you put it in rain mode, it’ll bump it down to 130HP which is similar to a 600cc
@gabrielpsaila7102
@gabrielpsaila7102 11 месяцев назад
@@tiger2q a 4rr is a great bike to get used to sports bikes on. Going from anything less than a 600 to a 1000cc is always going to be a big jump, there’s guys on 600s who get scared on 1000s but it really depends what you are like. If you gradually get used to revving a 1000 out and learn bit by bit you’ll be okay, if you have no self control you’ll potentially die. If you’re unsure at all - I would go to a 600 first as it wouldn’t disappoint and is more realistic to get used to.

I bought a 2005 model which has no bells and whistles, no fancy ride modes or ABS, just pure raw old school biking goodness. Its just as nimble in the twisties as the 636's Ive owned but at high speeds is somewhat terrifying. 100mph really feels like 100mph as the wind drag is something that you dont get with the aerodynamics of the sport bikes. Also it purrs like a kitten at 70mph on the highway. Im in freaking love.

I bought the Suzuki GSX 8R a month ago, even put the full Akrapovic exhaust on it, got the ecu flashed by TST Industries. I sold it back to the dealership and got the Ninja ZX10R. For over 20 years I’ve had multiple CBRs, but today, I wanted something more! In Louisville KY where I’m at there’s not any tracks close to here, but I want to get into track days with this bike :)

Thank you for including Tarrare at the end of the vid, his story is one of my favorites from history lol For those who want to know more, he eventually joined the French Revolutionary Army and his unique ability was used to smuggle vital information past enemy lines. He was given a letter in a small wooden box to eat, and after reaching the point of delivery the box was then retrieved from his excrement. He was eventually admitted to a mental institution where they would attempt to cure him, until he literally ATE A 14 MONTH CHILD... and then they exiled him.

I traded in my 2018 Versys 650 for a 2023 1000sx 4k miles ago. Love the 1000sx but wish I still had both bikes (can't afford that). Yammie talks bad about the Versys but I disagree, it was a great bike,,, I had to trade it in because it was rebuilt after a wreck and then got flooded and repaired again but it was never the same, it was like... anemic, didn't want to go to full power... I miss her though... going weird places, up down curbs and stairs and it would always do little mini wheelies when leaving red lights,,, it way sicker than Yammie makes them out to be. The 1000sx has a traction nanny that keeps me feeling "mature and responsible" out there. All in all though,,, I love them both.

Doesnt matter that you dont need the full power of a liter bike on the road…the acceleration/getup cannot be replicated in a 600 or lower. And trust me…that shit matters in fun factor

Nice work, had litre rockets for years. - on track days they make sense and about the right power but on the road, especially with the latest 200 bhp bikes there to much but still you gotta have them. Currently got a V4R and Zx10R.

I bought my first street bike 5 months ago, a KTM 390 ADV. A couple weeks later I bought a Ducati SCRAMBLER 803 cc air cooled. Lots of fun. A couple weeks later I bought a Ducati Diavel 1260S. Ooh Laa Laa..... the torque and the power curve of that engine are addicting. The key to riding ANY motorcycle is to first learn how to control the throttle and how to control the clutch. I learned about 15 years ago by riding single track dirt trail in the desert around Phoenix for 4 years. Once you master the clutch and throttle, no bike is dangerous or intimidating to ride.

Sport touring bikes are all fun and games but you’ll always lust after the liter bike. My first bike was an r1 I’ve owned 5 other bikes since, and still find myself missing the rush of speed but married life has made it so it’s not with the fight to have one lol

My dad wanted to upgrade. He sold me his 2012 ZX14 with full bolt ons for $3000. first time on a motorcycle outside of the Honda 300R I rode when I took my motorcycle class. Personally, I don't think 1000cc or 1400s are too much for a beginner. You can easily start on these types of bikes with self control. My dad always told me growing up, "1000s are like guns". IMHO, 1000s, big liter sport bikes are bragging rights more than anything. You can never really use this kind of power on the street, without getting in huge trouble.

I had a 21 fireblade and went to an R7. Love liter bikes but I guess I’ve done some maturing a realized going fast isn’t everything and I’ve had so much fun on my R7. It’s lighter and a lot more fun in twistes and the track. Yeah the straight line isn’t there but it does everything else better imo.

My ZX14R is perfect for the streets and has 113 ft lbs of torque. It's comfortable, to me it looks good, and on the highway, it makes you feel like a king. I wouldn't mind an MT-10, maybe next year. Most of the people who ride 600cc Supersport motorcycles in my area, plan on moving up to liters, one person who I rode with promptly was nearly killed after getting a used R1, the power is definitely a rush, I could ride my ZX14R just on the freeway and be content although I take it out into the twisties where it doesn't do too bad.

I test rode the Versys 1000 and i almost bought it, that engine felt awesome! imo 100-120hp and 100Nm of torque is the sweet spot for touring and everyday riding. In the end i went for NT1100 from Honda, because i got a really good deal on it brand new also it has better wind protection (i'm a tall dude), i'm very happy with it. I miss the 4 cylinder engine that Versys had... but maybe i'll trade in my honda and get the 1000SX in a year or two? who knows :D
