This was a big surprise to me with my 2010 scrambler. It was nice at first, but then it became, "I just want to get some groceries and head home!" Lol it's also fun arguing with normies about how it doesn't have a carborator.

@@markcameron8510 "we youg'uns" are growing an appreciation for old stuff, yes. I'm 33 now and have missed a lot in life due to personal problems and long-term unemployment. I hope I'll get my dream bike in 2-3 years. Currently, the favorite is a Speedmaster. I like the simple style of it, also the simple controls. Sure, it has a few modern touches like the riding modes, but overall it's a simple bike. I work IT, if I want a computer on wheels I can just strap my computer to a bike ;) In addition, I've always liked both the motorcycle and car-design from the 50ies to the 70ies. Afterwards.. Not my cup of tea.

My father had a 1986 Bonneville 750 that he used every summer until he passed away in 2017. I have many fond memories riding on the back as a kid. The engine noises from 1:10 to 1:30 gave me a grin from ear to ear combined with a few tears of sadness.

I love bikes, but unfortunately where I live they're death sentences. Every week one fatal accident in the avenue in front of my home. One week not long ago 2 bikers died crossing a traffic light and not 3 days later a biker acelerated as he turned the engine on (not sure if it was a faulty clutch cable) straight into a truck wheel. One time a car driver decide to make an U-turn from parking without left turn sign directly into a biker. Another time a biker hit a dog that was crossing the avenue. All of this only in my block.

2016 Street Twin I got second hand. It was the first year of the liquid cool. I tested the Honda classic and it ran real hot. I'm an ancient woman and find the Street Twin something I can handle. Hope that doesn't turn off the marcho dudes. It has more power than I need and probably more than you do too. I am a bicyclist so I have no complaints about the seat or suspension. If you ride a bicycle for hours you'll never complain about a motorcycle's comfort. I recently saw a super cool woman in this weird net stocking outfit and her boyfriend each on these power racers bikes while filling up my Triumph. They were doing selfies. Five hours later I was still riding my Triumph. I was certain they were home posting their pictures on social media and resting their backs and arms while this old lady was still loving the day on her motorcycle. I did not buy the bike for its classic style. I bought it because my own research--which doesn't mean I am right but it's what I concluded--showed the Street Twin with the slipper clutch very accessible and one I could learn to shift on. (I road a scooter for about two years. Started ancient.) But besides being very accessible, it is a head-turner. I think a beautiful bike. More importantly, I can spend the day on it without feeling like I've spent the day in a washer machine. It's easy to ride for hours on end. And wicked fun.

Love my 2013 T-100. It’s about to turn 55,000 miles. Not bad. I bought it new so every mile on it is mine. Also, I’m now 58 years old and until I bought this bike I’d never ridden a street bike ever. This allows me to know exactly how many miles I’ve ridden on a motorcycle my whole life as well. Kinda cool. Hadn’t ridden a dirt bike since I was 14 years old either. Fell in love with it. 550 miles in the last two days! Yes, I’m a fan! Great video! Thx!

I never owned a Triumph but I rode with some guys that all owned British bikes for a while and it wasn't just the Triumphs that needed all that TLC in the garage. Triumphs, BSAs and Nortons all spent their fair share of time in various states of disassembly. One of the Triumphs owners called it a labor of love to rebuild the top end every winter and the bottom end every other winter.

A OK boomer here. Still riding my 1976 T140V Bonneville that I bought brand new. The best part of owning it is coming out from shopping to find some young riders eye balling the Bonnie. After some biker chit chat they stare in wonder as I tickle the carbs and swing out the kick start lever. My God he's going to kick start it is the amazement on their face which turns to a smile and a thumbs up as the Bonnie barks to life and settles down to an idle. Love you younger bikers what ever your riding and the new Triumphs are beautiful. Ride on brothers and sister. A OK Boomer!

I love my 2013 Bonneville T100. Bought it used in 2017 with less than 200 miles on the clock. The only mods I’ve done so far are that I changed the stock pea-shooters for some TOR pipes. They look exactly like the original pea-shooters. The stock pipes sounded like a sewing machine-way too quiet. The TOR pipes give it a proper throaty burble. They also give it a nice pop when down shifting/engine breaking. Next mod is a louder horn. That’s it, so far. Though, for longer rides, I bought and installed a quick release windshield, a gel pad for me arse, and some saddle bags. All of them are easily removable for when I’m just cruising around town. Bike is a weekend toy, only has 3,400 miles on it, so far. Thinking I might do a tail tidy and put in some LED turn signals, bar-end mirrors, and a smaller front fender. I like the Motone stuff. I enjoy talking motorcycles with people. Bike always gets a lot of attention from old bikers and normies alike. The thing just pops. 😃

40 years since last riding, I have nothing but praise for the STreet Twin as a first bike. With no training or experience, I'd riden a friend's Suzuki GT 380 back in college (thank God for the digital gear indicator) and wanted another standard bike. A close mate with two (other) Triumphs suggested the ST. Took a weekend riding course (on a Kawasaki 250), but wanted the power and weight of a 900 for slabbing stability. For a 5' 9" newbie, the low CG of the ST was as easy to handle as the old GT 380. Confidence of flat footing, but upright riding position. I cant imagine a better choice for a first bike for ease of handling but one you dont quickly outgrow. Love the classic look (without devoting my weekends to polishing chrome). Yes, I do get guys in their 60s and 70s approaching to admire the bike and sharing their Bonne exoeriences, and frankly, its great. I get the same reaction to my 69 year old aircraft, Youre not just buying a bike that inspired countless similarly styled models from every major bike manufacturer over many years, but also joining a community with a storied past. This one with a little more class though. Make America Great Britain Agsin!

Got a new t120 in 2018, first 6,000 miles it became apparent the counterbalance shaft was installed incorrectly and my engine was torn all the way down to the crank and put back together. in that same 6,000 miles and the transmission stopped shifting, faulty parts in the shift shaft and also assembly, apparently a well known issue. I've seen a guy whos replaced his radiator twice. But I digress, I love this bike, smoothe motor, and Yammie nailed it, older guys only stare at my bike, no ladies.

I purchased my 2022 T120 a few days ago in San Antoino Texas. I had to ride it home to West Texas about 250 miles. I rode in the city, on I10 interstate highway at 80 mph speed limit, I did over 100 mph passing some big riggs for short burst. The last 80 miles was hills and twisties on back country roads. But on this portion, I pick up 35 to 50 mph cross winds. Those winds sucked ass especially with big rig going the other way passed me. I had to put gas in the bike 37 miles from home. I guess I got crappy gas mileage from the interstate highway riding. I purchased this bike because I had a 1982 Honda CB900C custom from 1983 to 1998 and loved that bike and wanted a bike that sat and rode like it. The T120 is the closest bike I could find that rides like the Honda from 1982. I love this bike and will be keeping it. I had to sell the Honda due to having to move overseas in the military. I was USAF from 1984 to 2007 active duty, retired.

Bought a 2019 Street Twin....in Thailand...love it. Fun to ride in the twistees, solid in the rain, and great overall bike....tons of torque at the low end. Kind of wish I have a 6th gear though but it is plenty fast for me

Returned to riding after several decades. Picked out a 2018 Street Twin. Works for me. Feels like the bike I rode 35 years ago, only better. Easy to ride. Reliable. If I can find an old Meridian at a price I like? I can get it to tinker with. Might as well have the best of both worlds.

Years ago I owned a Kawasaki 440. That was a newer model of a Kawasaki 400. My bike had a 6 speed transmission, but #6 was too tall for the power band. But I did enjoy the very standard shape and size of the bike. Today I would like a Bonneville 1200. It is classically styled. Not radical, not racy, just right.

A major issue with old Triumphs is that most are right-side shift. It's hard to switch between that and the standard left-side shift of nearly any other modern and even most vintage bikes. Go for the new bikes unless you like wrenching even more than riding.

The important thing to remember is that Hinckley products ( while great) are not Triumph. I don't think people realise that John Bloor bought only the name of Triumph and not the company. The conditions of the sale were that he could use the name but that he had to change the logo. In fact he actually distanced himself from Triumph in order to build his new product. Indian also went through some curious copyright issues at the time of its collapse until Polaris bought the name and also the company effectively.

I would ride one. I had a 1963 TR6 that I rode for a long time. My riding buddy lets me ride his '67 Bonneville. He doesn't ride it much any more because he can't start it with bad knees. In the garage is a '77 Bonny that needs some serious engine work. I'll get that one running when I have time. Every day ride for me is a '87 Wing.

I've got a 2018 t100 black and just did my first 5 night 6 day 1,300 mile camping adventure through northern Arkansas and southern Missouri. I had an amazing ride on incredible roads. Loaded with gear the bike still handled great and never gave me one problem. My only constant paranoia was that I'd get a flat and be stuck patching a tube on the roadside but i never got that flat. I've put 20k on this bike in 3.5 years and have never had one single issue with it. They are a lot of fun! Get a bonnie! ...and question to other owners, has anyone upgraded to the JoNich Tubeless spoked rims?

I bought a 2017 Triumph T100 as my first bike shortly after completing the MSF course. It has enough power to grow into... the power curve dies off so you won’t get yourself into trouble either. Not only are there parts a plenty but they are super simple to install. You may think you want a 1200 but when you’re riding the 900cc variant, you never feel like it’s too slow. If you are thinking cruiser as a first bike.... get a triumph modern classic instead. The clutch is super light. The brakes are adequate. The suspension is soft and forgiving. Once the aesthetic appeal wanes, there’s a reason why modern classic owners love our bikes months and years after purchasing. The triumph modern classics are the bikes Harley should be building and just aren’t.

Just bought the wc Bonnie T120. Love it! Its classic, has a 270 degree crank just like our 1937 John Deere Model B, as well as an inline twin of course, and I found a guy who gave me a good deal on a diamond limited production one. So far love it but just bought it last month!

Perhaps an older bike would be great for someone just learning to ride so when they need to wrench on it, it can be a learning experience as well.

Hello Mr Nuuuube, Long time watcher, first time commenter. I have a 2017 street scrambler. It's my daily commuter. I average 300kms per week. I've put 36k on it in 2years. I've customized a few bits here and there. It's been been a great bike. Loads of torque and fun to ride. No regrets. I'd buy one again

Steve McQueen and stuntman Bud Ekins riding a Triumph in The Great Escape stoked my interest in motorcycles. Eventually bought a cheaper Bonnie look-alike, the Yamaha XS650. Now looking to buy a T100 or T120 as opposed to a Kawi W800. Gotta have liquid cooling in the desert. Thanks for the video.

I have owned a '69 T120 (first bike backing the '70's ) and now own a '96 Thunderbird 900 triple; old enough to be interesting but modern enough to be reliable, best of both worlds! Also the 900 triple will walk all over any 900 twin and give the new T120 a decent run for it's money (but not the Thruxton 1200).

Friend of mine owns a '05? '06? an '0-something. She let me ride it only one time and I'll admit I loved it. Weight down low, high quality, polite throttle. I follow my local Triumph store online and love the looks. Will I ever get one? I don't know.

I really enjoyed riding a T120 on a test ride once. It was glorious, torque EVERYWHERE. Stupid acceleration, like the kind where you look down and simply cant believe what a simple twist of the wrist achieved (read lack of thrill). Brakes were okay but test the limit of what traction a tire can actually give (read ABS comes on sooner than you'd hope) Then you come to a corner and have brown pants for the rest of the day. Lovely bike, not for me. I did really enjoy the speed twin, its a completely different beast and ticks all the right boxes after stepping off a street triple.

You have not mentioned the sixty eight thousand bikes with wiring harness issues. My bike with 1200 miles on the clock requires a new wiring loom ,major problem for Triumph on the newer Bonnies. Plus serviceing costs annual service £200 a major service £550 and the street triple major service £750.

I bought a 2013 Bonneville T100 as my first bike and I love it. Great for me as first bike. I considered many makes/ models/ types. I considered everything from a Motto Guzzi to Kawasaki KLR and almost bought Yamaha XSR 700. I like Harleys as well, but pricing scared me. Considered Sportster 48 but pricey, and peanut tank range not a selling point for me. Lots of guys like Suzuki V-Strom, for me even though I am 6ft tall I didn’t like the height. Also considers Kawasaki Vulcan, but not crazy about cruiser seating. Maybe it’s a new rider thing, but I prefer standard seating, and thankfully the previous owner of my Bonnie upgraded the seat, I have the bench seat as well, not so comfortable.

I would definitely recommend a Royal Enfield Interceptor 650. Great bike to learn how to do your own work. More in keeping with the bikes of old. Similar to the street twin. Same 270 degree crank. Love both bikes, but for the price I would get the Interceptor. In fact I just did and that was after countless test rides on Bonnevilles.
