The Australian delivered spec-S and spec-R are both turbocharged however JDM S15’s in Spec-S are non-turbo and R is turbo. Autech version is NA.

🔥 I have to correct you. In Australia the Spec S and Spec R are basically the same identical car (both are Spec R's). The Spec R had a sunroof and bodykit and steering wheel that distinguished it from the Spec S. People who didn't want a sunroof, bought the Spec S. So let me rephrase. Australia: Known as the 200SX. All S15's brought into Australia from Japan are turbo SR20DET Spec R's. The S badge went on the cars that didn't have a sunroof. Japan and NZ: Spec R and Spec S are different cars. Spec R are turbo. Spec S are non turbo. The JDM Spec S was the budget no thrills version. JDM Spec R had all the options.

I love the look of the S15 so much! Back in gran turismo 2 days I built mine with the ethos of a JDM camaro. That’s what it is to me, a JDM camaro for sure! The US would for sure build a heavier version with bigger engine (unnecessary Chevy….) it would be cool if the turbo 4 cylinder Camaro 1LE of today was 1,000lbs lighter, I would want that if they would build it. I want an S15 with an RB25DET, so should I just get a GT-T skyline?

As an importer myself the reason they raise the value on Supra’s, Skyline’s, Silvia’s, (etc) is because if they don’t there will be no market for the cars anymore if they are selling at a low price. That’s why the price jumps up by 10-15% every year.

Since it is now 2024. I can confidently say the Spec-S are relitively cheap.(er). An auto with the winter package (gives it the limited slip dif) un-nutured is around $12k not including taxes, and registration costs. To manual swap, a used trasmission goes for around 275,000 yen (give or take $1,750 plus shipping. Its really not out if this word pricing at this point and time. I believe as time goes on, they will go up in price. I just bought a 99 s15. It was $14,500 including all the fees. Has around 77,000 km.

You mentioned that the non turbo Silvia's were mainly Australian which is not true. The Australian spec s's come turbocharged from factory however they're just de-tuned. Only JDM spec S's are non turbo

You’re forgetting their valvetrain is very sus. I’m saying this owning an sr 240. Depends on the car maintenance etc but this is not a car I would ever bang off the rev limiter from the factory. I’ve already thrown a rocker. Good power plants for decent power but one of the worst factory valvetrains for a jdm legend.

Nissan could make a killing if they just retooled a small factory to put out some of their classics with the minimum updates to be road legal today. They don't need to make or sell a lot of them, they would just need to make something like a hundred a year and sell them for a premium. Brand new S15, maybe with a QR25DE as the base model and a VR30DETT as the higher end model? Since their charging a premium for it, make it cost more then the new Z, since your buying it for the "classic" factor anyway. Would you buy a brand new S15?

Right Now, i could import a Good condition silvia s15 for around 20 Grand, including import fees, Taxes, and so on Here in germany. It would probably be cheaper if i would Buy it on an auction though. I dont know until what Point the Price is reasonable, since i am only Interested in cars since i got my licence a month ago. The only Silvia i can find on the market directly Here in germany is 70 Grand xD

I started young really young when I was 12. I grew up in a poor family and I never wanted to ask for anything so everything I’ve wanted I would work for. Started to gather up some money doing chores and bought what I wanted. That followed me through my later years where the savings I’ve accumulated over time have resulted in me being able to buy the stuff I’ve always wanted without having to worry about money. Best advice I could give is to watch what your money on if you don’t need it don’t get it. Take that money and invest that money in like stocks or whatever that will make your money make money if that makes sense

Mate you have got it all wrong. In Australia the only option was turbo there were no non turbo S15s available to the ADM market!!! only imports from Japan. Spec S and a R in Australia were both turbo and basically the same as Spec R JDM models. Only in Aus the Spec R got the sunroof and aero side skirts. Whilst the spec S had normal body and no sunroof. Both units had the extra bracing. Heads warping is a crock. They will spin bearings with poor oil changes/starvation. Unlike Japan there is not a lot of snow in Australia so rust is normally not an issue compare to ones from Japan. Also the JDM t28BB vs the ADM brush bearing turbo is irrelevant as who owns a S15 with the stock turbo? I dare say that in a year or so it will be better to buy a ADM S15 than JDM

damn got my first 240 back in 2016 for $1200- factory 5 spd and clean but slick top. not too long ago bought another for $4k but its leather and power options. had me realize the serious demand on these and tbh they are not all that. I want a S15 bad but not sure if itll be worth it tbh, i can get a jzx100 or 90 with the good"ol 1j instead of waiting for 2024 for a spec s...still thinking this thru
