Any other locations that are nice at YVR?

You can use any directional microphone that mounts onto the hotshoe of your camera. Make sure it includes a deadcat to eliminate any wind noise.

Hey Harold, it depends on the locations you'll be spotting in mostly. Do you have any spots that are very close to the airplane? If so, I would say the 70-200 makes more sense, since you'll be covering a focal range you currently don't have with the 200-600. But if you want to have a very versatile lens you can use on your travels, maybe the 100-400 might be better.

Hey! Let me try to answer your questions: 1. The Nikon P1000 is a great planespotting camera to start out with, for a few reasons. It is budget friendly, and it has built in optical zoom up to 3000mm which means you don't worry have to worry about getting different lenses. You can shoot any distance with it. I recommend it! 2. It is possible to make money out of planespotting once you have developed the skillset and built up your portfolio, but it shouldn't be your first goal while getting into this hobby. You should aim to enjoy it and develop your photography and planespotting skills - making money out of it should be a nice bonus on the side. Once you get the camera, I would recommend going out to planespot and learn your camera, learn photography basics, learn editing in lightroom or photoshop. Create a profile on something like Instagram to share your photos. Engage with other avgeeks in the community. Over time you will build relationships and friendships in the community who will help you grow as a photographer and planespotter. Don't worry too much about the follower count or likes, just focus on sharing your best work and improving. Eventually as you get better and better, you can start uploading your photos to professional aviation photographer websites like AirTeamImages, or reach out directly to magazines or publications that may be willing to feature your photos in print or online. I can't agree with you more on your response to my second question. And certainly, your response to my first question as well. Nikon p1000 sure does have a legendary zoom range, making plane spotting possible in almost any location in the world. And for the money making part... It is true that making money from this shouldn't be my main goal. The main goal for this and any other hobbies is to have fun. I intent to start my Instagram after I get my camera for my birthday. Looking forward to making some relationships... And some memories that I always wanted to make when I was even younger. Your advice surely was helpful. Thank you for your time!

@@onemoreweektogo Oh! Online plane spotting is where you take a flight simulator, (lets say Microsoft Flight Simulator or Project Flight Roblox) and you go to an airport in the game then start screen recording peoples landings or takeoffs. then the editing process is probably the same

For starters, you can check this website to see what spots have been used by other spotters at different airports: www.spotterguide.net/. Another great way is to get in touch with other spotters at the airport you want to spot at and ask them. Local spotters tend to have the best knowledge of the best spots as well as things to watch out for. Sometimes security may show up to see what you're doing. If you're not doing anything illegal or trespassing you should be fine - if they ask you to leave just kindly listen and find another spot to try. It's not worth getting in trouble with the authorities to get a photo.
