Namaskar, dear brother Barunkumar, your passion is admirable, but look at the language you are using. All capitals, accusing our sister of committing sin. Please, don't write this way. Baba wants us to follow rationality, and not to be fanatical and dogmatic like this. To the topic, yes, you are correct, the pronunciation should be "Baba nam kevalam". But with Samskrta, it is common to voice a consonant with the short vowel "a" - hence, "m" becomes "ma", and then we get Baba nama kevalama. It isn't wrong when pronounced like this. It still follows the rules of kirtan - i.e. it should be in anustup meter and should have 8 syllables. The meaning is unchanged. The "o" sound comes in from the Bengali pronunciation of "a", and of course then to fit in with the tune, people start lengthening that sound "oooooooo". Then it can become wrong as the ooooo takes away from the mantra. Better always to just sing Baba nam kevalam. I was physically present on at least two occasions when Baba corrected kirtan at DMC. Then, the error was that they were singing things like "Baba nama Baba nam Baba nama Baba nam Baba nama kevalam", or "Baba Baba Baba Baba kevalam". You will see this in at least one of the DMC speeches available on You Tube, and He says, "Baba nam kevalam" - perhaps even the speech you are referring to. It might be good if you link that in this chat. Easiest and best to always follow Guru vak, but remember, simple Baba nama kevalama isn't wrong. @anandiiannag Sister Anandii, your kirtan is amazing and beautiful, you put your whole heart and soul into it and certainly, Baba would be very happy to hear you sing like this.
