When you realise there was 100% chance for at least one person's favourite Pokémon to be picked and it turns out to be the favourite Pokémon of the top comment because of survivorship bias.
Seeing the start to this series kick off with Sobble was a delight to see on my dash! One of the best aspects of Sobble is that it’s subtly the correct narrative choice. There are no wrong answers in the game, but choosing Sobble means Hop gets the bouncy and energetic Scorbunny and Leon gets the calm and gentle Grookey, both matching their personalities to a “T”. Sobble, however, is kind of the first starter who truly needs a kind and empathetic trainer’s help taking on the world in order to become the best it can be. Being implied to be interpersonally Hard Mode, it requires only the most dedicated trainers to raise it (which is also why it’s not a bad choice per se for either Leon or Hop: Leon being the champion is an experienced and patient trainer, and Hop is dedicated to making it to the championship). Sobble lives under a brutal amount of stress and anxiety at all times and outright isn’t advertised as a happy creature even though its friends can cheer it up. Pretty much every animator and artist understood the assignment and took this to mean Sobble’s smile is one of the most precious and wonderful things to experience in all of Galar, more precious than a king’s treasure, and this remains true for the burned-out but still paranoid enough to set traps teenage wreck that is Drizzile, and the now-confident Inteleon. If you play with them in camp, you can see it in action - Inteleon for instance has the most adorable little laugh and will pretend to cough or clear its throat as if to say, “Right,” while still grinning broadly.
Im not THAT familiar with The Dex other than one time watching it for like 4 hours in the night instead of sleeping. I really thought these were the same guys maybe, but apparently just the exact same idea?
RU-vidr Lockstin and Gnoggin should be invited for a special episode of this! He's been doing his own such spotlight mini documentary for every pokémon there is - he's funny, witty, thorough and dives surprisingly deep in the various areas of knowledge as he goes!
Sooooooooo I was playing Pokemon blue version the other day and was fighting one of the lesser trainers in the poison ninja gym, I just beat his arbok with mew's psychic (I named mew lil giegue), and then he sends out Sandslash, so I send out my Vaporeon, now the reason I did this is because on a chemical level, vaporeon is cooler than sandslash. Allow me to explain the science behind my hypothesis. In chemistry specific heat is the amount of energy required for one kilogram of a substance to be raised one degree Celsius. Now water's specific heat requires that it absorbs about 4200 joules or one kilocalorie(one nutritional Calorie) for one kilogram of water to be raised one degree Celsius, now sand is a heterogeneous mixture, however around %80 of sand is composed of the element silicon, silicon has a specific heat of 710. So it takes waayyy more energy to heat water to the same temperature as sand, water is also a liquid on most places on earth, which means its particles can move around and disperse energy more easily to cool down faster. This is why sand at the beach is hotter and the water is cooler. So basically vaporeon is made of water and everyone knows it so vaporeon is like water, and sandslash has sand in the name, and it is also ground type, the ground is sometimes made out of sand in some areas, also Sandslash can learn the move slash, and also sand attack, so it is safe to assume that to the same extent that Sandslash can slash, that it is also sand, so we can say that Sandslash is like sand. Putting this information together we can deduce that vaporeon is like water and sandslash is like sand, and by extension, that vaporeon is cooler than sandslash. Now Pokemon is sometimes like an anime sometimes, but in this particular battle, I had battle animations turned on, the root word of anime is animation, so at this particular moment Pokemon was like anime and in anime, mostly the cooler guys win. This is what I was thinking in my head when I switched from my mew to my vaporeon against Sandslash of the enemy. The enemy Sandslash got one free turn because I used my turn to switch, so sandslash gets like a bonus turn, and it used a slash attack which has a higher critical chance, and! It got a critical hit on my vaporeon! It wasn't good but it took like half of its vitality HP. Next turn! My Vaporeon out-fasted the enemy Sandslash, so it gets to first this time, I told it to use surf because surf is like the best water move probably. BUT THE SANDSLASH SURVIVED BY A SLIVER! SANDSLASH TURN IT IS NOW!! CRITICAL HIT SLASH AGAIN!!! VAPREON IS UNCONSCIOUS NOW!!!! It was rediculius because of all the science and logic I just used to prove beforehand why I should have one. However looking back now there might have been 2 reasons number 1 is even though in the animes the cooler guys win, it is known that guys with yellow hair also win a lot in the animes, needlessly to say the power of anime betrayed me . Sandslash has yellow hair I think Soo yeah. Number second reason is my vaporeon was level 27 but the Sandslash was level 33, in the Pokedex, Sandshrew, which is baby Sandslash is the 27th Pokemon numerically and numerically Eevee is number 133, but which is 33 plus 100. Now what is special about 100 is that that is the number of Voltorb, which is electrical, what is also electrical is the Pokemon "charjabug" introduced in Pokemon sun and moon, in a week which is 7 days, and in seven days the sun comes and goes seven times so that's why we call Pokemon from that game "gen 7 Pokemon" so anyways charjabug knows how to use the "volt switch" technique which attacks but also switches to a different pokemon, so if we cancel out the 100 of Voltorb out of 133 of Eevee, we get 33 which is the level of the enemy Sandslash, and my VAPREON was level 27 which is the number of Sandshrew, so that plus Voltorb's relation to electricity and by extension charjabug and its "volt switch" technique we can hypothesize that the "coolness" got mixed around especially because vaporeon is from Eevee, which has unstable DNA, and it was sent out just after mew, which has all the Pokemon DNA inside it, so it becomes obvious that this is what happened, and that the Sandslash I was fighting was also super Saiyan Naruto from the animes, But really I should have won
My favourite thing about this is that they actually acting like real people discussing something instead of feeling AI generated but the real life references are a close second
Will this pokemon is actually based on a veiled chameleon with a slight hint of a green basilisk. It gets more basilisk looks when it evolves into its adult form. The most closely designed in this is based on the veiled chameleons, mostly preferring the color scheme of the guise, rather than the girls. Brielle veiled chameleon. Have their girls out of the two different gender sets. Having more brown and less colored guys have vibrant colors and when threatened, they put their chin out, bare their teeth and hiss like crazy. But at least for an extra kick, I could see this Pokémon doing one or two things crying., cause it's just a baby or doing what real chameleons do with a slight advantage: puffing the chin out and baring the teeth, and hissing like a snake when angry, but also uncurling that tail if it would be possible and swinging it like a whip to do knock back. And my also guess is this Pokémon feeding on both fruits and meat, and maybe a little bit of vegetables because real chameleons have an omnivorous diet. They mostly would eat insects, as they would do in the wild but in captivity chameleons can also eat fruits and vegetables. They have to be small enough to be right to get in their jaws though.
Very fun idea for a series! It seems like you two aren't necessarily covering Pokémon in a specific order either. I like that. It keeps things exciting. :D Bonus points for mentioning the manga and Sobble's real life counterparts. Can't wait to see what's next!
Very fun series. Cool to see cross media examples acknowledged. Dig the hosts to, Maple and Spruce seem like holding a Pokemon class was both of their dream jobs growing up lol
Interesting! I'm glad watching Pokémon at certain 22 years old. My first series I binged on was Pokémon Journeys until Pokémon Ultimate Journeys, and gosh Sobble is so adorable! I never stop thinking how absurd his personality since he met Goh, every time he's on screen I immediately adore him whenever he does. Here is what I remembered: 1. He camouflaged himself and ate at Ash's and Goh's breakfast, 2. He got startled by Silicobra and Darmanitan, 3. He simply escaping prison by Team Rocket during the battle, 4. He pats Goh, 5. He was crying in playground while Goh is doing his test, 6. He helps Goh founding fossils, 7. His Japanese name is Messon, 8. He saves Oddish from newton canon event, 9. #1 fan of Inteleon, himself basically, 10. He ran to Raboot avoiding Professor Kukui, 11. He entered his depressed emo phase, 12. He fights back Meowth and Wobbuffet, 13. His fingers were a cheeto, 14. Veteran at hide and seek. Afterall, I'm glad seeing this video pops up on my RU-vid recommend page and learn something new. Binging Pokémon XYZ lately, hopefully you guys do Beyond the Pokédex episode with Dedenne!
loving the idea ofthis new series!!! count me in to beyond :D only thing that could make this better was if they discussed origins, inspirations, or behind-the-scenes design!
I really like this series especially how they cover different pokemon media like the manga which isn't talked about much 😅 look forward to see other pokemon covered please continue this series
This is kind of ingenious to spread the light for those who don't really get acknowledged all too often. And they're not starting with Bulbasaur / Kanto either. This seems like a very neat series !
I'm happy to have stumbled onto this and found my Galar starter was chosen to begin this series. While I kept mine as a Drizzile I considered him to be the core of my successful Galar team. I think I'll kept watching to see what else will get highlighted here. Let’s see which one _professors_ Spruce and Maple talk about next. Oh, and Keep Calling.

This is such a cool idea, can’t wait to see the Paradox Pokémon get featured. I wonder how they will do Pokémon that have regional variants. This is such a cool concept!
Do you plan, by any chance, to have this published on the Italian channel featuring Italian subtitles? In that case, I would be more than happy to provide you with those subtitles :)
2:24 "And sure Sobble can't cry at the volume of a jet engine like Whismur" A gentle reminder of how messed up life with Pokemon can be. I still don't understand how solid ground can exist when magcargos are all over the place (10,000 °C is nearly ten times the melting point of soil). Just being in ten feet of one will instantly melt you to death.
well because the people that live in the pokemon world aren't full blown humans it shows a few times in the anime, they have magical properties about them, and the land itself that they live on also has a magical aura with it as well so it might seem impossible if it was realism but because the pokemon land is about magic and mystery not full blown realism anything is possible when it comes to the pokemon world.
Yeah, that and The Dex episodes... I enjoy bulbapedia because it has more info, but this show is entertaining enough thpugh.... But they should have bought the people form The Dex show to do this, no offfence to the serie's current presentators tho!
The actual way out this Pokémon was made is that it's based on both effusion between two lizards, which would be very weird to actually make a hybrid of of a green basilisk and veiled chameleon. It mostly gets its color scheme, shiny or non, based on the guys compared to the females. veiled females are usually brown and don't really have that much of color on them. But the guys have vibrant colors. and possibly the diet of this Pokémon would be more than just berries, but also insects as well, at least if they're small enough. Because real chameleons are omnivores, sure they have tiny razor-sharp teeth, but they also would eat insects as well, which is mostly their main diet source. And instead, at least of this Pokémon crying when it's scared, my guess of its other way would be baring its teeth out, appearing itself to look larger, uncurling the tail, shaking it like a whip and hissing.
Some feedback: I think it would be helpful to explicitly divide the video into sections: eg. History, Pokedex, Design origins, Battle Analysis, Anime, Manga etc. Should make it easier for people to digest and appreciate all the research and writing done.
For those in the replies, this person is a genuine fan of Vaporeon and not a fake copypasta fan. I’ve been on this person’s account before, and there were no signs of the copypasta whatsoever.
Not entirely since they don’t discuss the meta capabilities but it’s like a spiritual successor Always wanted someone to carry the mantle of that series
@@madnessarcade7447 Yeah, it's sad that Pokekells and Alex just STOPPED. It was entertaining and they had real chemistry. I don't remember Kells undermining Alex.
Oh wow, Sobble for the first EP! Pokémon Unite has just added Inteleon into the roster a few days ago. What a coincidence (or not? lol) Will be watching more of Maple and Spruce this summer!
