Sobek is an ancient Egyptian god associated with the Nile, fertility, military prowess, and protection. He is often depicted as a man with the head of a crocodile or as a full crocodile. Sobek was revered as a powerful and fearsome deity, symbolizing the dangerous yet life-giving force of the Nile River, which was central to Egypt's agriculture and survival.
Sobek was also considered a protector of the Egyptian people, particularly during times of war, thanks to his fierce, aggressive nature. Crocodiles were both feared and respected in ancient Egypt, and Sobek embodied these dual qualities-he could be a destructive force, but also a vital protector and source of prosperity.
In some traditions, Sobek was linked to the sun god Ra, merging with him to form Sobek-Ra, a deity that emphasized Sobek's importance not just in water, but also in cosmic power and kingship. Sobek's temples, especially in Faiyum and Kom Ombo, were significant worship centers, where live crocodiles were even kept as manifestations of the god.

lyric:
From the Nile, his name is heard,
Sobek’s reign, fierce and stirred.
Crocodile, king of might,
Rising up in endless fight.
Born in waters, fierce and wild,
Protector, warrior, nature’s child.
Nile runs deep, under his hand,
God of the river, ruler of the land.
Scales of green, eyes like flame,
Ancient power, none the same.
Guide the kings, hold the line,
Sobek’s strength, through all time.
(Sobek, Sobek!)
Rising from the depths so deep!
(Sobek, Sobek!)
Ruling where the waters seep!
Protector, king, never wrong,
Hear the Nile’s ancient song.
In the battles, warriors called,
Sobek’s power never stalled.
God of creation, god of war,
Protector of Pharaohs, forevermore.
Floods of power, rivers rise,
Storms of fury in his eyes.
Nile flows strong, day to night,
Sobek stands, pure might.
(Sobek, Sobek!)
Rising from the depths so deep!
(Sobek, Sobek!)
Ruling where the waters seep!
Protector, king, never wrong,
Hear the Nile’s ancient song.
(Oh-oh-oh) In the Nile, hear the cry,
(Oh-oh-oh) Crocodile, under sky.
Eternal guard, never die,
Sobek reigns, gods abide.
Temples carved in stone and sand,
Prayers rise up, across the land.
Creation flows where he commands,
Sobek’s grip, in every hand.
With each offering, power grows,
Crocodile god, the Nile flows.
Guardian of life and fate,
Sobek’s rule, never late.
(Sobek, Sobek!)
Rising from the depths so deep!
(Sobek, Sobek!)
Ruling where the waters seep!
Protector, king, never wrong,
Hear the Nile’s ancient song.
From the Nile, his name is heard,
Sobek’s reign, fierce and stirred.
Crocodile, king of might,
Rising up in endless fight.
