The Soboth reservoir resembles a Canadian mountain lake with its fjord-like bays and offers the opportunity to spend a wonderful day swimming. The lake is located in the area of the hiking village of Soboth, the district of the market town of Eibiswald and extends over the two provinces, Styria and Carinthia. The reservoir was built in the early 90s as a reservoir for the "Koralpe" hydroelectric power plant located in Lavamünd. Due to the construction of a fill dam, it looks like a natural mountain lake at 1,080 meters above sea level. It is fed by two streams of the southern Koralpe and is about 80 hectares in size, 3 km long and 80 meters deep. The reservoir must be completely emptied every 10 years for inspection work, which usually takes place in the winter months.
