GRC has also been overlooked and seems like a dark horse.

This video is answering a specific user's question regarding SOC and Cloud Security. With that being said, people don't always consider GRC as a path because they are usually attracted to the technology aspect first (not documentation). The demand for GRC professionals is only going to continue increasing as new laws and regulations are released.

No one person has all the skills! That’s why there is a lot of cooperation and collaboration!

The broader you go with your skill sets, the more difficult it is to be really good in one particular area. That can be OK at smaller companies where you need to wear many hats, but you'll want to specialize in large organizations.

I have Cysa++ but I don’t have experience. Which title I should looking for on search?

I highly recommend working through my free eBook's roadmap to make sure you have the knowledge and skills that employers are going to expect. If you only have a CySA+, you definitely have some glaring gaps in your foundation. Common job titles include Information Security Analyst/Engineer, SOC Analyst/Engineer, etc. but you really need to look at the experience/skills listed and see if it's a good fit because titles mean relatively little.

Thanks, but my main problem is the Time, family kids other working understand. That's why I asked which one would be more smoothie as a entry level jobs. 😊

Unfortunately there is no path that will be "quick," especially if you are starting from zero. With that being said, cloud and cloud security are growth areas so they offer the fastest path to entry and to the top since there is a massive demand for the skills. If you can pick up the Infrastructure as Code (IaC) side of things, then you can go even faster. Security Operations is more established and will absolutely be a longer grind.

So this something I wanted to ask, might seem silly which pays more SOC or cloud security.
@JonGoodCyber
@JonGoodCyber Год назад
@@pradeepvedhams334 since you didn't mention a specific level of job as that indicates the amount of compensation, I'll talk in general terms. Both the starting salaries and top level salaries are going to be quite similar. What's not going to be the same is the amount of time it takes to get the top level or very high on the compensation scale. Cloud is an emerging area with high demand so it's going to be easier to make quick and significant pay jumps. SOC jobs are more established in both their responsibilities and salary bands.

Hi Jon, I want to get into the path of cloud security, I have knowledge of cybersecurity, hacking and programming with python, I have never worked in IT, my plan is to start with aws partitioner, and then continue with solution arch and then sec, do you think I could get into some work? My doubt, is if I have to do some SOC path (blue team) or directly I go for cloud, and the last doubt is if I need to do comptia sec+ (I have the knowledge from other courses, but I can't afford the price of the certification for the moment) or with aws partitioner is it ok? Thank you very much for your time.

Cloud Security is rarely separated from general cloud responsibilities today, so if you want to work in that space, you need to develop your general cloud knowledge and skills. It will also be more challenging to find some rare cases where Cloud Security is a separate role if you don't have any IT experience. Remember that the Cloud is like the networking world of the past, where you can specialize in it without needing to venture too far away. The path that I would recommend for somebody focused on Cloud, especially wanting to go into Cloud Security: 1. AWS CCP 2. SysOps Administrator Associate 3. Solutions Architect Associate 4. Solutions Architect Professional 5. Security Specialty I'm not saying you need to have all of this before applying, but it won't be easy to land anything without at least an Associate level certification. Indeed, things become a lot easier once you get to the Professional level.

where to learn about cloud security
@JonGoodCyber
@JonGoodCyber 6 месяцев назад
Most cloud positions in the industry today are more commonly generalist type roles, which means you need a solid understanding of everything that Cloud has to offer, not just security. I always like recommending ACloudGuru because I've had personal success with them and they cover the major vendors.
