I would like to see the rest of the drill after this brilliant unopposed technical segment. I even got a membership to The Coaching Manual and can't find it anywhere on their app(not even this video). It is such a quality unopposed segment of a session that can easily be adapted to make it opposed and to progress to the SSG but I'd like to see Limbrick's version. It's quality for not only teaching your players about playing out from the back but also teaching your midfielders about rotation( teaching that holding midfielder about timing his run by dropping off his marker to receive only in the correct situation and not just standing around and hanging out by the CBs) also about body shape in receiving to play forward and at an angle as well as off the ball runs by the fullbacks and the more advanced midfielders not to mention a bit of combination play for good measure. A+++ unopposed technical session. If anybody could somehow find or direct me where to find the rest of this session let me know!
There’s a skill practice and a game in the other videos on the link. If you want to find other sessions by the same coach you can search for Anthony limbrick.
I like this coach (a hint of an Aussie or Kiwi accent in there?) although I wasn't sure of exactly how this exercise was involving everybody. The target players and the goalkeeper looked a bit bored.
This video is merely meant to represent the unopposed technical segment of the session and this drill could easily transition into the opposed skill segment by turning a few of those players into pressing opponents.
This playing it out from the back is absolutely bullshit unless you are a top premier league outfit let the keeper kick it long and have a big player to win the header guaranteed you will score loads more goals and concede less 👍
I disagree, this session is brilliant especially at the 7v7 and 9v9 level of the game when you have a goalkeepers who aren't going to be able to hit a goal kick 75 yards up the pitch and it's critical these players learn these things young. It's also crucial the midfielders learn all about the rotation and movement off the ball that's being taught here too. Such as that deep midfielder learning to drop off his marker at an angle at the right time and not too early and to receieve on the back foot to play forward which cues the fullback to make a run forward and the more advanced midfielder to drop off their marker and offer an option. All while teaching an encouraging combination play.
