Khosta (Abkh. Kabanya River) is a microdistrict in the city of Sochi, Krasnodar Territory, the administrative center of the Khosta district of Sochi.
The settlement has been known since the Middle Ages as the possession of the Abkhaz princes Khamysh. The Genoese trading post Casto was located here in the 12th century.
On January 19, 1899, the State Council decided to give the settlement of Khosta the status of a city with a simplified administration. The estuarine plain of the Khosta River was divided into 175 urban, 60 craft and 50 summer cottages.
From December 28, 1905 to January 6, 1906, the red banner of the Sochi Republic fluttered in Khost.
On August 10, 1934, the Presidium of the All-Russian Central Executive Committee reassigned the Khosta Village Council (the resort village of Khosta) to the Sochi City Council from the Sochi District, and in 1951 it was abolished as a resort village and on April 18, 1951, together with the adjacent settlements, was transformed into the Khosta District as part of the city Sochi within the boundaries between the rivers Kudepsta and Agura.
