'Social Distancing'. This was something that was totally unheard off before the pandemic. This tune was composed by Ben soon after he returned home from a walk in the neighbourhood during the second lockdown in Auckland in 2020 There were very few people out on the street and almost no traffic. People kept to the 2 metre rule for social distancing. In this composition the piano and kamanche are representative of people out on the street. Two very different instruments played by people who come from different parts of the world but connected through the common language of music.

'Social Distancing' is one of the tunes on ‘The Music Never Stopped’ - an album of 12 tunes (10 instrumental and 2 vocal) composed by Ben Fernandez. These were inspired by emotions felt during the Covid 19 lockdown in New Zealand. Each tune tells a story . This album is also a reflection of Ben’s personal journey as a musician . It has solo piano, ballads, jazz, latin, funk and elements of world music. The tunes were recorded live at the Kenneth Myers Centre, Auckland, New Zealand
