One of social psychology’s interests is how we think about ourselves and others. It points out several errors in the way we think about ourselves and others. Contributors to these issues are the interplay of our sense of self and the social world.
"spotlight effect" - a concept in Social Psychology. It's the belief that others are noticing our appearance and behavior more than they actually are. In simpler terms, we often think we're under a spotlight, with everyone paying close attention to us, when, in reality, people might not be as focused on us as we think.
The illusion of transparency is the illusion that our concealed emotions leak out and can be easily read by others. We often make a mistake by thinking others catch onto our feelings, even when we try to hide them, assuming everyone is closely watching our every move. Social psychology sheds light on these misconceptions, labeling them as errors. Numerous studies reveal that people primarily concentrate on their own worries, dedicating limited time to notice how others look or act.
