Hi Stephanie, very proud of you and the growth and credible information on your channel, Great JOB!!!!! Hope Gary and family doing well. I also applied and successfully got SSN for both J2 minors and I DID NOT PAY EITHER. IT IS STATED NOT ELLIGIBLE FOR EMPLOYMENT. however I people who I suggested to apply were not successful and had to go the route of EAD even though they are also J2 minor.

It’s very strange that a few people get the SSN without an EAD I guess that’s their blessing or somebody don’t know what the correct procedure is. But from “woppy kill fillop” 😂😂 this is how international teachers acquired their dependents SSN. I guess we live and learn! A win is a win!

I would say, call/walk in to your local social security administration office and directly apply for SSN. I got SSN of my two J-2 dependent kids without applying to EAD.

I applied for the SSN at the Social Security office for free for my son who is a minor and got it. Did not have to apply for the EAD since it’s not for work
