This as a good example of getting to the root of the issue of the student/worker by asking probing questions; placing the emphasis on the issues in the current caseload. It boiled down to lack of confidence in communicating and relating with an older generation. The educational supervisor was calm, reassuring yet tactful when giving the worker constructive criticism. The worker really needed an experienced agency worker or supervisor to model how to engage all family members when conducting an assessment and then further coaching to develop her to be able to do this when she gets cases. On a professional note, I really hope that the student isn't wearing inappropriate (torn jeans) clothing to the agency and on home visits with families. While it may be "cool or cute" outside of work, we have to remember that workers represent the agency. Ones in the community, to include services providers and the courts, should be able to differentiate between the client and the worker. Well done video!
