As a Christian and a former law enforcement officer, I can only tell you what I have seen regarding the way interactions go down on the street when it comes to dealing with Black people, especially Black men. Black men are far more likely to be argumentative. They are far more likely to resist even though they are being treated the exact same way that a White citizen would be treated. They are far more likely to be combative. It's hard to explain, and it makes no sense from an objective viewpoint. As a rookie, it always perplexed me as to why someone would fight a cop rather than resist even over relatively minor infractions that the person was clearly guilty of. Then, what you get is officers who are not confident in their abilities who are terrified. Many people are not comfortable with physical violence, even many police officers. Often the training is inadequate and taught in a way to keep an agency from liability rather than training an officer to win a fight by whatever lawful means possible. Compound that with the misconception by society that Black men are somehow all better at fighting, and we get officers who are either too quick to use excessive force, or they hesitate to use the appropriate amount of force necessary to gain compliance and have to play catch up once the altercation escalates beyond the point of where a lesser amount of force could have resolved the situation. I believe it is paramount for agencies to staff their districts with officers who are most suitable for those districts, and base those decisions purely on an abilities basis rather than a political correct basis. You can be a White officer and get along just fine in a predominantly minority district. You have to just treat people like your neighbors, but you also cannot be afraid to "handle-up" on someone when they get out of line. To do that, you have to be confident and unafraid. That comes with faith in God, good training, and physical fitness. It also helps if your agency has your back and isn't going to do to you what Minneapolis PD did those three officers in the George Floyd case, which is to poorly train you and then throw you under the bus when you apply the training they taught you, when the evidence was overwhelming that they did everything by the book, and Floyd most likely would have died even if the police never touched him. He saw he was being stopped, so he swallowed a lethal dose of fentanyl to avoid it being used as evidence. I've had that happen to me. Thankfully, EMS was able to revive the kid until we got to the ER.
How can u get rid of an over 400 years of hate, discrimination, injustice without talking about it. You can’t have a relationship without dialogue. Marriage problems don’t go away without talking about it. So race would go away without talking about it when racism is still relevant. So if we stop talking about it, while we are silent, will it not be happening? So silence is the new remedy. ?
@brucedavis8773 Well it has been talked about. It's been talked about a lot. It's been in our history books and it's been Consistently taught. The problem comes when you See every negative incident in the world happening and are contributing it to race. I'm not gonna sit here and bark at a ten year old japanese girl for pearl harbor.
Why do these conversations never bring up the biological (genetic) fact that race does not exist? Why keep bantering about a nonfact? We must rephrase this debate so that we can emphasize the fact that people are people! Can we rephrase the term ‘race?’ Maybe emphasizing the fact that we humans naturally ‘notice’ those who look different than ourselves? Help us to get to the core so we can see each other as nothing more than brothers and sisters who need to learn to live in the same house?
The two young cops had never experienced the type of discrimination and racism that perhaps the uncle had. They stopped to check things out discriminating or not the uncle reacting out of his perception of the cops motivation not thier actual actions, makes a huge scene and they decide this dudes freakin out were out of here. All you had to do was say "hey we live right around the corner we are walking to the store." They probably would've asked a few more questions like authoritative pissants and then left.
