look into how white woman vs Black women are feminized historically... it’s very interesting and telling. also in your own life ask Black women and white women how they are stereotyped, they’ll probably say things that fit under the large umbrellas of “ladylike/fragile” versus “rude/mean”. also connected to skin tone color in general as well (anyone with dark vs light skin).
@@susanatorres-londono9716 Generalizing a stereotype to people you don't know is wrong but it doesn't mean many/most stereotypes aren't based on reality. The average man is more aggressive than the average woman, it doesn't mean every man I encounter is aggressive but the stereotype holds true. Some stereotypes can be outdated tho.
That's the thing though it's unconscious bias he probably didn't think that he was being racist or see it as him being racist because the way he was raised and where he grew up and they all act like that and say stuff like that we see it as disgusting because we see the racial undertones behind it but he probably doesn't and it's sad
@@frankiegreenberg2771 It’s funny that you’d just state that knowing it’s a blatant lie! Ben is a racist but claiming that he is automatically a Trump supporter because he is a bad person shows how big the lies are that you are being told by the Democratic and how many lies you are spewing!
As a white man nothing made me happier then to see jaison bury ben with his intelligence and his intellect and without insulting him once And to see bens face when he realizes there no excuse to make for himself. Russel was just a user and a liar but its survivor deal with it ben was an asshole and the real villian. And i bet he wouldn't be calling anyone ghetto trash in publc where no one can save him
Grindr Queen Shii Ann deserved better than her Sook Jai tribe, but she is also very obnoxious and full of herself so I understand why no one really likes her. That is everything to do with her personality, not her race. Jenna Lewis and Shii Ann are practically the same people lol.
yeah it was super heartwarming how he was nice to her said he liked her because she's a hard worker haha. all those other people being mean to her because of the way she was eating was so silly. they're on survivor, why does it matter if she eats with her fingers? lol so trivial
Pj McLaughlin I mean Shii Ann is clearly obnoxious and has no self awareness, but I don’t blame her flipping on Sook Jai in Thailand. I don’t think there’s one person Shii Ann played with that actually liked her, except for maybe Amber?
never watched her seasons but that was insane to me how thoseother two were talking like school girls.. is using your hands really that foreign?? how else do you eat chicken ? weird...
Getting grossed out because someone didn't waste any part of the chicken? Seriously?!🙄 Millions of people around the world eat with their hands. Just because that boy grew up wasting food and using utensils doesn't mean his worldview is right and others wrong. So annoying 🙄
Bret is genuinely one of my favorites of all time and if he doesn't ever go back on Survivor I'm glad we got a season of TAR out of him to scratch that itch of mine
Yeah I feel bad for her she continuously found herself on the outside of Social Circles when she played and she's struggling with cancer right now I really hope she gets better
Props to Shi Ann. I was raised using my hands to eat my food. Even when eating rice you scooped it. It's not because of bad manners, it's because of cultural difference. (I am Arab by the way)
@@unknownaura Sounds like you're just uncultured. Again it is very prevalent for Asian and middle eastern countries not to use silver ware. She should not have to change who she is just because people can't rough and tough it.
@@unknownaura how the fuck are you literally watching a video about cultural differences and still miss every single point it's making. Your a fucking asshole dude, and I hope for your sake you do have a brain in your head (that thing on your shoulders) or that they're accepting first grade transfers students (regardless of age)
@@unknownaura just because others ate like that it doesn’t mean she needed to follow their ways. to eat with your hands is common in many parts of the world, probably not in yours because you’re from eu or us and used to customs of white people probably but it’s literally being resourceful. if you were slightly smart you would utilize that same eagerness to call out how the guy felt the need to specifiy she’s a girl as if that’s in any way relevant or not sexist. use your brain.
"Go back to eating ketchup sandwiches and drinking kool-aid" ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING that Jeff allowed that to happen, that POS should've been kicked off of the show as soon as he made those ignorant remarks. Ugh. On the opposite side, Zeke and Bret are amazing, that was such a wholesome moment ❤️
"Her eating habits are repulsive". My two responses to that, Robb, are as follows; 1. You just ate the flesh of a chicken and then would be comfortable discarding all of its nutritious organs, therefore disrespecting the life you just took. 2. This is thinly veiled racism and from recent interviews, I can tell that absolutely nothing about you has changed.
yes we all know it's racism he was clearly making racial comments America was still very racist in the early 2000s it's only recently that we've taken steps to try to recognize our racism and try to change it we are getting a lot of push back but we are still making progress and even though it is very small and very incremental I think it's good we're making progress
i’m watching the season with jaison. and let me just say, thank god he said something, no one deserves to be treated in the way ben treated jazmin (i’m sorry if i misspelled her name, idr the spelling exactly)
@@jennyjennr YES! Literally the worst part was seeing all those white people not back up the black guy, just leave him to fend for himself (sorry i don't watch survivor this just came up on my recommended lol)
I’m so glad he stuck up for her, the other guy was completely out of line. The things he said should not have slid then and definitely would not be acceptable now.
The way Zeke was saying how grateful he was for Bretts generation made me so emotional cause yeah we joke abt the older generations but they did the early steps to making this world a more accepting place for everyone
Gay guys to win Survivor: Richard Hatch: Season 1 Todd Herzog: Season 15 Who will be number 3? Will a LGBT woman win? Island of the Idols - Missy or Elaine?
Rodz Alvarez you mean the guy who stood up to a racist bully? Or the racist bully himself? Because the racist bully was voted out that same tribal, and Jaison lasted until the Final 5
@Lucifer Ms your assuming only made an ass out of yourself . I did not say that at all. Nor did I imply that. Those are your words alone. Here is why using the word “hood” is racist . Using the term to describe the only Black woman on a show is racist. That is fact. www.tmj4.com/news/local-news/responding-to-inequalities-common-words-or-phrases-with-racist-history Here educate yourself because you are truly an embarrassment.
@Lucifer Ms HAHAHHAHA that’s doesn’t even make sense. Neena brought awareness to a racial stereotyping word (“hood”) and how using that word to describe the only black person is wrong and racially driven. Then u call her racist for pointing out a racial stereotypes? Wtf bro u really are pathetic 😂.
Cao Boi's problem was that he didn't fit in with the other Asians, partially because, as he pointed out, he was the only one who didn't grow up in America, which made it difficult for him to relate to the others. Also, he was the only Vietnamese with two Filipinos and two Koreans.
@@shay1330 omgg when jeff asked Courtney if she has an eating disorder or is anorexic I was like WHATTTT ? and then I realized it was an older season bcuz there is no way that would pass today . the show would have been immediately cancelled .
I honestly hope they do one more returning player season for seasons 28 through 39 call the season the end of an Era and then retire those players and focus on the new era I think they should bring people like mama c ryan the probation officer that everybody hated from season 35 I forget his name Donathan Davie Christian and basically not Karishma lol jk love you Karishma but she over reacted when she got that cut on her hand and she basically isolated an ostracized herself from the rest of the tribe because she thought nobody liked her
Eager Turtle Jaison was always complaining besides Ben’s boot episode, Liz was so stank and negative, Mick was very attractive but super boring, and Natalie didn’t get in any screentime until Episode 4. Besides Natalie, the only likable people are the first 2 boots Marisa and Betsy, along with Ashley. And everyone except Marisa and Betsy enabled Russell’s awful behavior and gameplay. The fact Betsy was voted instead of Ben still disgusts me.
@@a.jdeets5527 Agreed, I think the Foa Foa tribe is quite overrated. Like, Natalie, Mick, and Jaison were fine. And Russell could be entertaining when he wasn't getting too much screen time or being an ass. But yeah, I didn't care for most of the other pre-merge boots on that tribe. I actually liked Betsy from what we saw and I wish she went farther (her one moment with Jeff in the reunion show should be enough to have her back lol). But Ashley and Marisa were boring and I couldn't stand Ben, Liz, and Mike. The latter being one of the only times I didn't mind a player getting medevac'd. Based on his awful premiere episode, I think he would've been really irritating and unlikable moving forward.
I'm just completely guessing here, but I feel like Cao Boi grew up in a world where it was normalized to make fun of different cultures including Asian people, and it's possible that he started playing along so that he wouldn't feel as hurt by it and eventually just got used to it.
It's so nice to see a man from a generation that would be more xenophobic , Jake, take up for ShiAnn. Some people are just pure at heart and don't see our differences ❤
During that Samoa scene with Bigot Ben, I really wished they had Eliza there to call him out on his bullcrap. Or rather just to hear Eliza call Ben a deceptive lying bitch like she did to Twila and Chris.
+Eager Turtle For eiher the sociocultural moments in survivor or cringe series, may you also include the Ami/Lisa incident in Vanuatu that causes Lisa's downfall?
Do you mean the moment where Lisa says they need to know how to do something around camp, incase Ami isn't around? I'm not really sure how that's a sociocultural moment. It's possible I'm completely forgetting something though.
@@eagerturtle4791 Yes, that moment. Because of how Lisa just HATED acting like she swore on the bible & suddenly after considering Ami "the LAST one that's gonna go babe!"..."wanted her BUTT outta here" cause she's so mad. 😂😂😂😂😂
@@pjmclaughlin844 I've included it in one of the previous cringeworthy vids, but I don't think it works that well as a sociocultural moment! 😊 Might rewatch it because I don't remember the bible stuff and that could count as sociocultural. Haven't really included many religious moments so far.
the race war season was actually a really good idea for a season even tho the title might be a little harsh. gives people a good inside into other cultures.
Lmfao why is it that anytime someone says something really fucking racist or sexist they feel the need to use the phrase “pulling that card” when they get called out it’s like dawg people are just calling shit like they see it 💀
Ugh I wish Janet had won this season Not to be like this but...idk I really wish a woman had won that season like let’s be real it was never going to be Noura but there were so many good female players and tommy was so lacklustre in comparison
Exactly. Being able to laugh at yourself is nice, but you have to realize that even if you don’t care about perpetuating stereotypes, other people still might. it was just insensitive
Paloma Yi I thought they were being ridiculous, he was saying it to other Asians. Yul was such a condescending and arrogant douchebag. Cook Islands is a horrible season.
TheMurrmursonbottle I don’t understand how making Asian jokes to other Asians is offensive. Yul and Becky acted so smug and holier then thou the entire season (along with Ozzy and Sundra). The Aitu 4 were so unlikable and only one because production rigged it in their favor.
A.J Deets I mean, they aren’t as offensive as a non-Asian saying them, but the main problem was that these jokes were going to be put on television where hundreds of thousands of people would be watching them. If the other Asians would have laughed at them, many viewers could start saying them too, no matter what race they are. This is obviously a problem as it can come off as racist and crest more issues. So I think the other Asians in the tribe were right in telling Cao Boi to stop making those jokes.
I think it’s important to remember that Cao Boi comes from a different culture than the rest of his tribe. He grew up in Vietnam, where there isn’t a culture of political correctness on such issues. It’s not about who’s right or wrong, it’s just a culture clash.
@@larphraulen and it’s entirely possible to make good funny racial jokes but his insult jokes all seemed like they came from ignorance, it felt more self-hateful than actually funny
