It was a fun weekend. In additon to PIGs there's also LAMBs (Learning And Making Beautiful Socks), and a few others. Lol. I can't remember what they all stand for but they work socks into it somehow. 😂

Great recap! You reminded me of Iowa tornadoes. Many summer evenings spend in the basement with tornado warnings in northern Iowa. I hand knit socks, lately at least one set a month. Love Felici and Opal. Lang came back with some new colors.

Yes!! I grew up in Northern Iowa and have lots of tornado / basement memories. My mom would load up a laundry basket with a blanket and a few games and our weather radio and we'd head down to our not-so-nice / little-bit-scary basement. But glad we had shelter! 😂 (And my family still does this, but our basement is a bit nicer/finished. ) I'll definitely have to check out Lang - thanks!

@@JenGeigleyKnits Definitely scary. I was a senior in high school when 30 miles away Charles City had their big downtown tornado. I still remember those very black clouds roll over a beautiful blue sky. Now living on Long Island, New York and had a small tornado take out 5 trees in my backyard as I was watching from a window. Oh, I should have been in the basement.

I keep my sock tubes in an antique bowl with my tools needed to hand knit the toes and heels by my chair

Have a look at the Colorada Cranker's 3 wedge toe for toe up . Takes a bit to master it but it makes a nice easy stretch over to the other side and not too taut. .

I haven’t done socks on my addi, just on my sock machine but depending on what size machine you have, i’m sure you could!

Haha - so, I had a tiny crack in my yarn feeder, and I patched it with a bread tie until I could go home to fix it. (The MacGyvering worked!)

Hey Jen, I'm super curious about your thoughts about the Dean & Bean machine vs the Erlbacher.

Hi! I've never used an Erlbacher, but several of my friends have one and they love it. I like my D&B because it fits into my budget and does the same thing as the more expensive machines. I wanted to see if I even enjoyed cranking socks (there's a big learning curve for all of the machines!) and didn't want to spend too much before I knew if it was for me or not. Now I know I love it! But yes, I'd recommend Dean & Bean machines to anyone starting out ... they are a great family-owned company and have lots of online videos and support.

LB had new colors and I bought a bunch of it and now the new colors are discontinued. I have the pink in the old version and that grey you have.

interesting!! yes, the skeins I just ordered from ebay (or etsy?) - I can’t remember - all say ‘back for a limited time’ on the labels. huh!

I’m mad they discontinued it again. It was a great buy for sock yarn, I can whip up a few pairs out of one skein and use them as gifts that don’t break the bank.

@@tinypanther yeah - why do they do that?! I love affordable sock yarn in fun colors … I did find a bunch of it and the price was the same as the lion brand website (surprisingly,) so at least I got stocked up but yeah. give us the yarn we want!

sorry, another question. You said you "saved yarn for his heal/toe/cuff" - how much of a 50g or 100g skein do you save for that? ... assuming you are making 1 pair of socks from the tube. :) love this - i hope you dont mind all the q's

I just kind of eyeball it but maybe next time I’ll weigh it! For my stripey socks, I know I need 2-3 stripes worth.

Hi Jen! i have another question about the afterthought everything. sorry if you already spoke about this - but the ribbing - is the choice between 1x1 and 2x2 about ascetics or is the 2x2 more stretchy also?

Yes - you can do either one! I just like how the 2x2 looks!
