Sockeye fever is real and spreading this summer! This is video is my first outing to the Fraser River using a controversial technique called "bottom bouncing". End of the video I share my opinion on this technique.

Just discovered your YT channel through googling your website, after a slow day at Stave. You've got some great content and I am definitely going to use it to learn from. Thank you!

4:38 Thank-you for the honesty. If people would just admit these fish are NOT biting and being snagged it would be a lot less controversial.

I was checking your blog and I don't see any info on Alouette river. Can you share some spots if you know of any. Not your honey holes but just something to try and wet the line that is withing the regulations specified on the PAC.

Thanks for checking out the website. My recommendation for Alouette River, is look at the river on Google Maps and focus on bridges across the river.

Thanks for the comment Jason. With the amount of Sockeye in the Fraser River right now there are no magic spots, as most sandbars between Chilliwack and Hope will produce fish. This one is closer to Hope.

@@BCFishingJournal the bars you mention along the Fraser from Vancouver through to New west. Are they spots one could catch sockeye bottom bouncing? For instance foreshore park or north arm by queensborough bridge

@@andreabruno5495 The river changes each year, but if they open Sockeye I’d recommend looking on Google maps for runs between Chilliwack and Hope (plenty of places to fish).

Why don't folks bar fish the fraser for them? People do really well on the Columbia fishing like that

Good question, I have heard of some guys doing this. However that approach is not typical as the Fraser water clarity is pretty poor on the run timing, so challenging for fish to see you bait. Also I’m no Fraser River Sockeye expert but I know these fish are more lockjaw in these upper sections of the river (many miles inland from ocean) where anglers can target them. So it’s a tough fishery in these conditions!
