Day 26. Socktober 2023.
CSM E-Wrap Cast on with 1x1 Rib Cuff. Circular Sock Knitting Machine.
Using an e-wrap is just one way to have a selvedge edge for a ribber sock. I will show the e wrap and how to start your ribbing. Also how to change back to all cylinder needles.
This year I decided to do socktober. Each day I am going to post a video of me cranking some sort of project on my Erlbacher Gearhart Speedster knitting machine.
Join me on my journey!
Have fun experimenting with all different yarns.
In this video:
○e-wrap cast on
○placing the ribber
○1x1 rib
○changing back to all cylinder needles

Thank you so much for sharing your daily videos for socktober!! Sorry I’ve not been commenting, I’ve watched all of them and they are superb! Thanks for much! I tried Juana’s cast on today for the first time and will try the e-wrap tomorrow after watching your video. I keep dropping rib stitches 😞 not sure what I am doing wrong. Your sock looked so lovely with all the rib intact. Thanks again and happy cranking! 🧦 🧶

I definitely had to adjust my ribber a few times with very minor changes/movements to get it timed the way it is now. I hope that you keep going and you will get it. Lots of practice. Thank you for watching and commenting when you can. I really appreciate it.

I love that yarn! Also, this was a great camera angle to see exactly what should be happening. I'm contemplating doing a November challenge and trying to make each of the things you shared (some of which will be on the really, really hard side for me!). The ribber portion will definitely be the most difficult, but watching this makes me think it's time to try again.

Oh I love that!!!! It's exciting. There are still things I wanna try or do more of. 😊

My sock machine is your machines ancestor so I don't have that piece that you are putting the spring on so I am guessing the older slow version for me? I definitely have been a chicken about the ribber this is very helpful for me to see thank you

Oh yes that was a newer thing added to the machine. I know it will Be a little slower but it will definitely be doable! I was definitely chicken when I first got my ribber.

You made the ribber a little less scary. Not ready to try yet, but will utilize this video when I am ready. Thanks 😊

Oh thank you. It took me a few tries before I felt comfortable. And by a few I mean over 5 or 6. So just get to it at your own pace. 😊

I finally made the e wrap cast on, thanks to your video. It's on a pair of shorty socks. Much quicker than the hung hem, but not as finished looking. But what a fun alternative!

How do you do this without a ribber
@aquilladahun-aleftyknitter
@aquilladahun-aleftyknitter 9 месяцев назад
You can do a mock rib, taking out every other needle. I am not sure I have tried the e wrap with that though.

Whoever invented the knitting machine was a genius. For the most part I can see how its works, But I can't fathom what it took to invent and make it work. What is the difference between the cylinder needles and the ribber needles?
@aquilladahun-aleftyknitter
@aquilladahun-aleftyknitter 11 месяцев назад
The ribber needles are shorter so they can all fit onto the ribber tappet plate.

Hi. I enjoy watching your videos. I am amazed by what humans have created. I am amazed that humans can operate and use these machines. I have a flatbed knitting machine with a ribber. I have had it a year and feel I have barely scratched the surface for its possibilities. Lots of trial , errors and successes. 🖖

Hi! Thank you so much for the kind words. I was just having a similar conversation about we love watching "how it's made" but we really want to know how these amazing people made the actual machines to make the products. That in itself is interesting. Keep learning with your flatbed! They are amazing Machines. I know many people who use the ribber attachment to make tubes for socks!

I have made several pairs of socks on it! Only have to seam the ribbing together on the cuff. Yeah, I would like to hear from the people that make the interesting things also!

@@libh8956 I love that you have made socks on your flatbed. I know NOTHING about flatbed machines. I have watched videos on RU-vid because it's interesting
