I played rugby against Western Carolina a few times and I remember the one time we played at WCU it snowed most of the way up there but when we arrived the campus surrounded by snow capped mountains while the campus itself wasn’t touched. We played just outside of the football stadium but I remember how awesome that place looked with that backdrop.
Agreed... As a quasi-Aus equivalent (not that we have much University sport), I'd love to see a Melbourne Private Schools AFL and Sydney Private Schools Rugby Union grounds (not many could be called Stadiums). In Sydney I'd combine GPS and CAS and say Scots, Cranbrook, Shore, Knox, Barker, Kings, Riverview, Joey's, Newington are worth covering.
There are 765 colleges in the US that have full football teams split into 5 main levels with conferences within each level. Even crazier is there are 15,800 high schools that field football teams. Some of them have stadiums as nice or nicer than the nicest field in this video.
@@TheJimwilt20 Fun fact, my high school (whose baseball field can be seen briefly in the opening montage for Samford) has played at Seibert Stadium before, and our own stadium - which has been around since the 70s - is easily better lmao
I do enjoy your college football stadiums. Especially how that is my favorite sport to watch. I hope to see more videos from this or any other topic you like!
I would like to mention that the Citadel is directly in the middle of remodeling their away side bleachers. That is the reason for the wide difference.
I've been to Gibbs several times in my younger days. Spartanburg High School used it for home games until a couple years ago when they built a new school. It is a lovely facility with great views from the hill it sits on. The Carolina Panthers of the NFL hold training camp at Wofford as well.
Johnson Hagood the Citadel stadium is going under a renovation on the visitors side to accommodate enough people to qualify for hosting a bowl game. Since being in Charleston it will be a good lower level bowl game location. A little off topic from the stadiums but The Citadel does have the best looking uniforms 8n the entire country including all divisions.
The team's jersey and helmet design history is so vast, especially for an institution that foucses on tradition. I hope they stay with their latest helmet design. Very clean and makes the whole look feel very traditional.
Yup! They changed the names about 15 years ago. FBS used to be called Division 1-A and FCS used to be called Division 1-AA. Both are the top level of universities in America, but they are split into FBS and FCS based on funding, student enrollment, prioritization of sports, and somewhat geographically as well. FBS schools get 85 scholarships to offer to their players, FCS schools get 63 scholarships to offer to their players. There are lots more little details and interesting facts you can learning when you are interested! 🙂
The citadel stadium is also the an office and Arsenal for the South Carolina National Guard. They keep weapons in vault in the main part of the stadium.
Adding to the video, VMI and The Citadel are both military colleges and have one of the best rivalries in the FCS known as "The Military Classic of The South"
The Citadel's stadium is literally built over a cemetery. A mariner's graveyard occupied the site and the stones were relocated but not the bodies when the stadium was built.
Do the major conferences of NCAA Baseball (SEC, ACC, PAC 12, Big 10/12, AAC, Mountain West, etc.) also maybe do conferences of the best d2 stadiums- some are very nice!
Do you think you could do American Association of Baseball stadiums? It’s an independent baseball league but has stadiums close to some high end minor league ball parks! Love the videos
The Division II and III football stadiums... some of them, are quite bad ass... the Best High School Stadiums? An entire wealth of months, if not years.
Actually they updated arena to have clear windows and new turf too so you might want to update the video As well as refurbished the entire interior of the Ramsey Center.
It's one of the many videos that I have started making, but haven't gotten around to finishing yet. I guess it will be finished within the next month or so.
The visitor's side of Hagood Stadium was demolished because of lead paint contamination. You can see the footprint of the Orginal stand. Plans are to rebuild it according to Wick-e-p-dia.
The VMI stadium was ugly before it opened. The school can afford to renovate or even replace it....If The Citadel can build a new grandstand on the east side of the stadium, they could be back in position to host the FCS title game again. Or better yet, bring the title game back to Chattanooga.
I'm confused. Do you mean Chattanooga Choo Choo? Because that is about the train and hotel just up the street. I love the scenic City but I'm not aware of any songs about Finley
Pertaining to the new permanent visitor stands being built at The Citadel, as someone who lives in Charleston & mingles with Citadel fans and alums, The Citadel has shown very little interest in replacing the visitor bleachers with a permanent stand project any time soon. ha
