Definitely needed the aprons. Good call

Agreed. Can't imagine the original in the photo last very long and it must rack back and forth like crazy.

Nice to see no burn marks as you taper the legs. Your work is always impressive. Thanks

Very interesting reverse leg tapering- I’m so accustomed to seeing table legs tapered at the bottom. I’m curious to see how you cut a matching angle on the apron and tenon to match the leg. Great work as always HB!

It's like the person who made the original table screwed up and put the legs on upside-down and then was like ," no one will ever know ".

As always a great video. So glad you chose pieces with some sap wood. I feel the sap wood adds to the beauty of the overall project. Have a great week.

Good choice to add aprons. And thanks for the explanation about haunched tenons. I always wondered why they even existed - seemed like a waste of labor. Thank you! Thumbs up.

This sofa table is a VERY nice piece, and I'd like to make one for my own home. I'll probably add another shelf for shoes, though, as it will be right next to the front door.

Nice easy build for a change. Nice job on the table. I am glad my source of wood I help mill and kiln dry . So I get my pick of the best lumber at a great price $1.25 bdft. no matter what type of wood.

Nice method and structure. Just love a haunched tenon. I don't have a mortiser so a bit more work involved but still nice to make.

I’m working on one now but I just tapered two sides of the legs! Thought about doing all four but seems like it worked out ok! I really like the walnut but where I live it’s kinda hard to get! Thank you for sharing your experience Caitlin on this build! Stay warm! 😊

It’s always interesting to here what kind of lumbers people get locally. Oaks, walnut, cherry, and maple and easy for me to source everywhere.

@@HoneyBadgerWoodWorks Oak cherry and maple are the easiest to get around here! All Walnut is sold to the companies that make veneer! Thanks Caitlyn!

I love black walnut. It's almost $14 per linear foot where I live though.

This was somewhere in the $10 a BF range, but realistically it was also surface on 2 sides, arguably three.

Was this wood from Wilard bros? They have amazing selection of species. And about 30mins from me as well. Neighbor took me there once...wish I had deep pockets!
@HoneyBadgerWoodWorks
@HoneyBadgerWoodWorks 7 месяцев назад
Yep, this was from them. Finally made my way up there. It’s just shy of 40 mins away so just long enough of a ride to be annoying. But, the selection was great and everyone there was super nice.

Putting together a 2nd garage shop after few year hiatus and recent move I'm learning to do with a lot less just by watching you. Also, reverse taper, nice touch. I always did the two surfaces inside. Question: did you angle the tenon shoulders up top? Good stuff, Thanks.
@HoneyBadgerWoodWorks
@HoneyBadgerWoodWorks 7 месяцев назад
Yeah all the tenons had to cut at an angle. That's in the next video and I did it on the RAS. Made be realize why most tapers stop below the apron hahaha.

@@richardgoeltz3769 I could be a brand issue, when I was buying the bit for this I bought a High end bit because I read the cheaper ones are garbage.
